THIS.

When I was finally able to get my 256 Silver yesterday, I returned my 64 GB Space Grey from launch day (sorry fischersd ). The employee asked me why I was returning a phone I bought yesterday. I said I'm returning it because I finally got what I wanted, in another store, today. The "rollout" of launch day stock was atrocious. Why the hell were stores only getting one freakin model? After waiting 16 hours, you have to go home with something! Then they had the audacity to tell me "Apple doesn't encourage waiting in line on launch day", and I quote "it's like lining up at an event, without a ticket to get in". Sure, I made the decision to wait... but don't exclude yourself from responsibility, when you are filming us for Apple PR hype montages. Plus, lining up for Apple products is the world's least secret unspoken tradition.

So no, I don't feel bad returning my opened 1-day-old device. Because they brought this on themselves.

I wouldn't go that far. It's frustrating that stock is low, but Apple did a decent job balancing supply and demand.

They could have easily restricted supply to just United States, and/or only for pre-orders. Building these systems and processes to allow for more ways of Reserving, and then fulfilling them same-day, are not easy. The fact that we can even try reservations on a daily basis can only come from them caring about their customer, and doing their best to allow everyone a chance to get one.

What happens to those orders that were placed on October 27th? Yes, I’m glad that I could reserve one in store. But what if my nearest store was 2-3 hours away? Or I lived in Saskatchewan where there are no stores? I’m left to rot, while others can just reserve and be “bumped up”.

Nobody is saying Apple isn’t working towards balancing... but this launch has been extremely wonky. In the past, stores were 1-and-done on launch day. You would be lucky if you found stock the day after. Now it seems like a given.

In fact I find it very hard to believe 256’s were so constrained on November 3, yet boatloads appeared on Nov 4. Don’t tell me UPS only unloaded the plane on Friday night. Something is off with how orders are being processed/fulfilled this year.

I tried at 6am on the last two days and finished picking a time slot and everything in literally 6 seconds flat at 6am sharp when it all showed as available and nada.

Sigh...I think I'm giving up on the store front. Just going to wait for my stupid nov 21-28. Maybe apple will throw a bone and move it up...

Given this is still the weekend, there's a good chance our Orders will be bumped come Monday. I've cancelled mine, and that should bump others up.

Many others will simply wait for their original delivery. Meanwhile, for those like us who really want it over the weekend, we can find them in-store. It's easier for Apple to provide weekend shipping for their own stores, than to try and satisfy individual buyers with weekend-shipping to their homes.

I see what you mean by wonkiness. Either the stock isn't as constrained as we believed, or Apple is getting better every year with managing distribution.

seems to be true in ontario, but the reserve in store process is a joke in alberta

Does anyone know if the stores are getting resupplied on Sunday or if what we are seeing on istocknow.com are returns, or cancellations. Or maybe they are just making available inventory that they have on hand. Based on what I am seeing the quantities seem to be very small (maybe one phone per update) as they get snapped up instantly.

Just saw availability at Square One and the Eaton Centre of 256k SG and these were gone in seconds so I'm assuming it was one phone at each location. Or maybe just an appointment slot opened. I didn't get past step one before they were gone. Frustrating.

Still no progress on our launch orders that are stuck on Nov 21st.

Fair enough. No system is truly perfect, but there is always room for improvement. Both sides of the argument have valid points. It takes courage to call out a company you love, for their poor decisions. It’s for them to take customer feedback and work on improvements for next year.

Regardless, I really feel for those who simply can’t participate in the reservation process. They’re the true losers in this scenario. They have no choice but to receive their order whenever Apple chooses to fulfill it.

+1... I thought this would go well but here I am refreshing the page every 15 seconds to try and reserve a phone 2 hours away, because I don't want to wait until Nov 20-27... If I was willing to wait I wouldn't have woken up at 3AM on Oct 27...

Pre-ordered on Oct 27 2017 at 1:06AM and have a Nov 21-28 eta.(no bump yet)

I have setup istocknow such that it shows me stock across canada and for certain stores close to me and i am seeing every few seconds phones being re-stocked. Don't give up guys, one phone will show up eventually that you can pickup.

I do recall for my iPhone 7 plus i had to wait 1-2 days post launch to get it but always had my phones first weekend, this maybe the first time i don't!

I wouldn't spend too much time on it today. I doubt they got any new stock in since it's the weekend. I'll bet the stock they received Friday they kept for saturdays reservations. I think tomorrow or Tuesday we will have better luck.
