thanks captain I was trying to see if this guy who seemed to have information had some insight, no need to be an *******.
he said he works for AT&T, how would he have insight on your apple.com order?
Just to confirm, this info is only for those that ordered via AT&T, right?
Does this also apply if I ordered an AT&T phone from Apple?
I signed up for a new account with AT&T and I do not have any amounts in Back-Order. I ordered a 16GB Black and a 16GB White. Is it safe to say I will be receiving two separate packages then from different locations?
We have 16,100 white 16's here. They will ship separate, and you will have two different tracking numbers, we treat those as separate orders. If your back order is 0, YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED PHONES. YOU WILL HAVE THEM ON FRIDAY.
Like I posted before, if you have a backorder of 0, you have been assigned a phone and our processors have yet to physically scan them into the system.
How does "NEXT DAY AIR" translate to Sep 21? Shouldn't you have it tomorrow?
Just to add some additional information to the thread.
I ordered one white 16 gig and one black 16 gig through apple.com app for att at 3:30 am est. tracked via phone number on UPS.com, both are in Addison IL, Yesterday they showed up as one item. today each has a unique tracking # attached to it now.
Dont know what it all means, but that is what I know.
It is how we process it. Each phone is streamed as a separate order. With so many shipping centers, it wouldn't be practical to ship together.
I ordered a black 16g through at&t at 9:45 AM EST, and my confirmations all said delivery would be 9/21/12.
When I checked order status this morning, I still have a quantity of 1 on backorder. Is it possible that could still change today, or has everyone who will be receiving one already had their order status moved off backorder? You say that if backorder is 0, you will be receiving a phone, but is there a chance if still on backorder?
When should tracking numbers start generating to our orders? Do they populate as they are labeled? Or will they all be sent to us on Thursday?
Every phone in the states right now is accounted for. They all have a recipient attached to them.
I can tell you with certainty you will not get one of those phones. However, AT&T of course is still being issued phones on a daily basis, and you may get one of the ones produced over the last week that are scheduled to ship out today or tomorrow. You ordered late, I'm going to expect your phone to be delivered after Friday.

There is a delay on AT&T's side. You will be able to find the phones using your phone number on UPS.com or Fedex.com before AT&T tells you the number. The reason being is we label the phones, scan the phones to an apple account, and they are boxed up. AT&T receives batch updates at times throughout the day. So AT&T could be a minute behind or 4 hours behind depending on when your package is scanned.

Thanks for responding. Well, I did have some movement it turns out...I checked the status about 20 minutes ago and I now have 0 in the back-order column, for whatever that's worth!

You're going to be sorry when ATT breaks out the measuring tape to see who spilled the beans.![]()
