he said he works for AT&T, how would he have insight on your apple.com order?

it was more of a whole thread kindof thing ive been asking this all day hoping someone is in the same boat as me but unfortunately no one is.

Every year.
Some ship direct from China.
Some are already in a US 'warehouse'.
Some will be delivered by UPS and some from FedEx.
Some very special people might get theirs one day early, and the unboxing videos and pictures will follow.

The only thing you can count on, if it's not in your hands on the 22nd, there was a problem.

THIS INFO IS FOR 16G BLACK PHONES ONLY:

Started allocating phones @ 0600 EST today from the main warehouse. 3400 done so far (roughly 1%)!

Those of you that show an order count of 1-4 phones with a back order of 0 and are stuck in pending will start to see shipping info appearing. IF YOUR BACK ORDER QUANTITY IS 0, YOU HAVE BEEN ALLOCATED A PHONE. PLEASE STOP CALLING CUSTOMER SERVICE, THESE PEOPLE KNOW NOTHING AND ARE JUST TELLING YOU SOMETHING TO MAKE YOU GO AWAY. THEY HAVE NO ACCESS TO MODIFY OR DETERMINE THE STATUS OF E-COM ORDERS

Rate quotes are being ran on the shipping, and because of the location, it is easier to ship via UPS, however if the price is 14% or less, it will be cargo'd to fedex.

FWIW, 7% of AT&T's allotment (of a total of 406,000 phones) are coming from China. If you are receiving one of these phones, they actually have a different screen than those that have been in the US since June. While they are different, the end user could never tell them apart. That is the only difference.

Just to confirm, this info is only for those that ordered via AT&T, right?
Does this also apply if I ordered an AT&T phone from Apple?

Orders through apple go through an entirely different channel as opposed to ordering from AT&T... My info pertains to AT&T e-com and phone orders only.

Apple oversold, and are literally running at 110% productivity which is NOT good. However Apple has top notch customer service and will over night phones to you to keep good on their practice right from the factory.

We had a set number of orders that we knew we could handle and had an exact cut off number. However, with CC's being rejected, that base number was extremely dynamic, so some who pre-ordered will not get phones because of processing issues, and those that ordered really late will be lucky and will take that slot. I can tell you that every single phone here has a recipient now, every single last one... When we are done labeling on Thursday, if you don't have tracking, you're unfortunately not receiving a phone on Fri.

I signed up for a new account with AT&T and I do not have any amounts in Back-Order. I ordered a 16GB Black and a 16GB White. Is it safe to say I will be receiving two separate packages then from different locations?

We have 16,100 white 16's here. They will ship separate, and you will have two different tracking numbers, we treat those as separate orders. If your back order is 0, YOU HAVE BEEN ASSIGNED PHONES. YOU WILL HAVE THEM ON FRIDAY.

Like I posted before, if you have a backorder of 0, you have been assigned a phone and our processors have yet to physically scan them into the system.

Thank you for all your information.

Please do not send me personal info for me to do phone status checks. I do not want to know your personal info, and I am not allowed to look up customer info. I can't help you.

Thanks

Just to add some additional information to the thread.

I ordered one white 16 gig and one black 16 gig through apple.com app for att at 3:30 am est. tracked via phone number on UPS.com, both are in Addison IL, Yesterday they showed up as one item. today each has a unique tracking # attached to it now.

Dont know what it all means, but that is what I know.

It is how we process it. Each phone is streamed as a separate order. With so many shipping centers, it wouldn't be practical to ship together.

I ordered a black 16g through at&t at 9:45 AM EST, and my confirmations all said delivery would be 9/21/12.

When I checked order status this morning, I still have a quantity of 1 on backorder. Is it possible that could still change today, or has everyone who will be receiving one already had their order status moved off backorder? You say that if backorder is 0, you will be receiving a phone, but is there a chance if still on backorder?

I assumed they would come separately, they were showing as one order before the tracking numbers were assigned.

Earlier in the thread it was implied that only phones ordered from ATT were coming from Illinois, but mine were ordered from Apple.

When should tracking numbers start generating to our orders? Do they populate as they are labeled? Or will they all be sent to us on Thursday?

Every phone in the states right now is accounted for. They all have a recipient attached to them.

I can tell you with certainty you will not get one of those phones. However, AT&T of course is still being issued phones on a daily basis, and you may get one of the ones produced over the last week that are scheduled to ship out today or tomorrow. You ordered late, I'm going to expect your phone to be delivered after Friday.

There is a delay on AT&T's side. You will be able to find the phones using your phone number on UPS.com or Fedex.com before AT&T tells you the number. The reason being is we label the phones, scan the phones to an apple account, and they are boxed up. AT&T receives batch updates at times throughout the day. So AT&T could be a minute behind or 4 hours behind depending on when your package is scanned.

Thanks for responding. Well, I did have some movement it turns out...I checked the status about 20 minutes ago and I now have 0 in the back-order column, for whatever that's worth!

Where do you see this backorder column? Im on the ATT page and do not see it Anywhere. Does it make a difference that I ordered it from a retail store vs online?

Tomorrow is the last day for people to have the back order number go to zero and to still receive on friday.

Nevermind - AT&T email linked to a status page that is not as detailed as the one everyone else apparently is using. :)
