I've got a bit of a silly quandary, don't know if I'm just making a meal of this or not..

I received my SG 256GB from CPW today (very late in the day, at first the tracking said the delivery driver couldn't find my building, then I noticed I had two missed calls from him so managed to call him and direct him to me - phew!).

My Apple order is due 13-20th for the same phone, and has AppleCare+ attached too. I know it's probably not a popular point of view, but I've thought about selling my CPW phone and waiting for the Apple one instead - simply because it's "bought from Apple" and that's where I've bought all my Apple kit previously.

Am I right in thinking there is basically no benefit to buying from Apple over CPW when we're talking SIM free unlocked phones in both cases? I can just buy AppleCare+ for the CPW phone and be in exactly the same position?

Now that I have the phone in my hands, sealed, I'm not sure I can wait until 13-20th :( .. but at the same time, I kinda want all my Apple hardware order history in one place. ARRGGHH.

Thoughts gratefully received :)

I had the same Apple order for 13-20th but have cancelled. ALL iPhone X’s come from the same source. There’s not some for Apple and some for CPW. All the same. If you’ve got a good one (no dead pixels etc) then just keep it. I know I am. All CPW iPhones are unlocked so EXACTLY the same as you’d get from Apple. Keep it. I’m going to get AppleCare Plus. I know it’s a lot but it buys pice of mind.

And there’s a thought. Apple wouldn’t sell you AC+ if your CPW iPhone X was in any way different.

Thanks. Knew I was being a bit silly but you've put my mind at ease.

I was surprised when CPW said it had been dispatched.

Anyone know how to transfer Whatsapp backup from android to iOS?

Tired to purchase Apple Care online last nite. The diagnostics process was a breeze and all went well till it came to enter any payment information and all was spat back - no matter what card was used. Tired to sort it out via online chat but they said a Agreement team would have to ring and sort it out as the Care was pending but failed.
They this morning morning and had it quickly sorted. They blamed the sheer number of people trying buy Apple Care . All good now but and happy my iPhone X is now covered.

Just bought it for mine. I couldn’t add it to my basket on the Apple site so arraigned a callback today which I’ve just taken. Expensive at £199 but this thing outside a case looks very expensive to repair! AC+ at least provides piece of mind.

I haven’t needed to use my Apple Care since the 5S .....but when you need it (and live close to an Apple store like I do) it makes life so simple. They just tend to swap it out regardless of the fault or damage and get u on your way!

Ordered my Silver X on Monday this week (So was quite late to the party), website was showing 10th for delivery. I've just had my dispatch email, so should be here tomorrow or Monday. Was not expecting that!!!

Anyone else have the same?

I picked mine up this afternoon, despite the jokers over the past couple of days hacking into my DPD account and changing the delivery date and place (did they really think it’d work?!).

Anyway, all set up now but I had the same sales pitch from CPW about insurance. £15.99 a month?! More expensive than AppleCare plus. What are you guys getting? Any insurance at all?

I had to get insurance that included theft as you can't be too careful these days as you found out so went with insurance 2go for £9.99 a month.

I’ve had it on my iPhone’s since the 5 also and NEVER used it but I just know I’ll need it IF I didn’t get it. Sod’s law.

I have theft insurance with my Home insurance but....not really bothered about theft as my iPhone’s never ever leave my side. Even when I go to the loo!

Also, whilst I was on the phone to Apple they said my X was an unlocked one, putting to bed once and for all that those bought from CPW are unlocked.

I just got an email to say my phone has been dispatched however I phoned them a couple of days ago to cancel as they told me it won't be delivered for 2 weeks or so. Does that mean it will be delivered tomorrow if though I cancelled it?

Am I the only one who had a bad experience with CPW? Upgrade to a 256 silver ordered at 8:26 on the 27th. Kept telling me delivery was 3/11 (even at 6:05pm on the 2/11). Then on the 3/11 they tell me delivery is 10/11. So I cancelled and went direct to EE. Even if EE delivery is to be after 10/11 I just didn’t want to give CFW my business. Is it because I was an upgrade and not an outright purchase ? Who knows. Either way, hope you’re all enjoying your new Xs!

Hi,could you mind to tell which model number of iPhone X you received from CPW is? A1865 or A1901? Thanks you!

I used BackupTrans the last time I went from Android to iOS, and it worked well enough. It's not free though. I guess this would be the thing you'd want?

Model no: A1901
Part no: MQAF2B/A

A1865 has a Qualcomm modem, A1901 has an Intel one. Apparently the Qualcomm one is better in low-signal conditions.

For what it's worth - both the CPW and online Apple Store ones that I had delivered here in the UK, both SIM free/unlocked, were both A1901.

Carphone Warehouse Iphone X delivery dates on new pre-orders have been pushed back.
If you pre-order Iphone X today, the delivery is pushed back from 17th November to 1st of December for Iphone X 256gb.

Be careful with Carphone Warehouse orders on O2 (upgrading a monthly contract) for this reason: if you end up not liking the X, you cannot return it. I just found that out so now I'm stuck with the X, which I would exchange if I could because I'm not getting on with it so well (FaceID, notch, etc) .. grr

All UK iPhones are A1901 as far as I know.
Yeah, that would make sense. There's zero A1865 ones on eBay UK, which wouldn't be the case if a) there were two variants commonly available in the UK and b) it was that big a deal to begin with
