Folks, thanks to sterling contributions by @MrMister111 as the Original Poster and many many others during the past 332 pages such as Vlud whose name is no longer appearing when I hit @ and the first characters of his name, so here's a shout out to his Github repository: here, and many many more, the products and market for CarPlay Wireless Adapters has advanced dramatically. There are more products than ever before, with relatively lower prices and improved stability and compatibility. That last however still with some exceptions! CarLinkIT and other manufacturers deserve recognition for their responsiveness to individual consumers and maybe even discussions here.

Why this eulogy? Simple! I am closing the CarPlay Wireless Adapter Issue Log with thanks to everyone who has contributed to it and hopefully it provided some useful information to those consulting it. But I think it has served its purpose and maybe I will find something else to add to my forum signature going forward!

Onward and upward!

EDIT: I just have to mention my current adapter and all time favourite from Sunweyer that remains the single most stable and reliable adapter that I have ever owned: this one!

Wondering if the mini ultra solves the iPhone 16 Pro Max audio skip / cut out issue. Carlinkit 5.0 has this issue and Carlinkit has acknowledged the problem but it’s been over a year without a fix.

I bought this one for use in rental cars and it worked in both without a hitch or any appreciable lag or audio issues.

Served my needs. Used it with an iPhone 13 mini FWIW.

Cars were:

2025 VW Jetta and Mitsubishi Outlander

Just a note here for a very specific application. The AAWireless Two+, which recently distributed its Indiegogo Perks, is an update of an Android Auto wireless adapter that added native CarPlay support. The highlight functionality is easy switching between paired devices on any platform, AA or CarPlay... unfortunately, it does not work reliably with Mazda vehicles. (Although when it does work, it's more responsive than my old CarLinkit 2.0.) The company has been quite responsive in trying to solve the problem, but they have concluded they'll be unable to solve it on their end.

Anyone have any suggestions for an adapter that offers easier switching between paired devices?

Carlinkit has a setting in its configuration page to use the cars or phones GPS. You can make it use the phones and then you eliminate any GPS problem from the car. I would assume most all the other dongles also have this setting. After changing the setting the device needs to restart because a negotiation happens at startup telling the phone when it connected what the car will support or not.
In the Carlinkit Web Interface, there is a setting for GPS (Switched Right is Green, or you can set the switch to left). Which setting is for GPS to come from the phone, and which side is for the GPS to come from the car?

I have a circa-2020 CPlay2Air dongle that doesn't play well with the iPhone 17. I reached out to CPlay2Air and they acknowledged an issue with iOS 26. Rather than wait for support to push out new firmware, I'm going to look for an update. The CPlay2Air has always been pretty slow to connect and I'm reading that newer models connect much faster.

Is anyone using one of the Ottocast variants with iOS 26 without issue?

That option should read 'Car GPS Antenna Passthrough'. It passes the car's GPS to the phone through the dongle. Turning it off, the phone would be completely dependent on it's own antennas/positioning.

Yes, so flipping the button to the right is "On"?

Correct. Green = Pass it through. Gray = block.

Note: Passthrough requires hardware and not all dongles have them. CarLinkit does; others are a hit or miss.
Thanks for the reply. I have the GPS setting to Right/Green. Do you know how to verify that Car Pass-through is enabled? Is there something on the map screen or phone that will verify that GPS is from the car?
