it would be really cool if chatty complications for modular watchface will also have icon for weather status like default complication on picture above (cloud with moon)... will be that possible in next release?

Beside that detail I really like chatty complication, makes me smile almost always when I check my watch :)

Unfortunately there's just no room to have both the icon, the temperature, and the chatty text, especially on 38mm watches :\

yep that makes sense... so and how about weather icon without temperature number for small notification complication? it will nicely work with chatty complication

how about joining the call for a weather icon + precipitation chance? (i've not used chatty but i presume that doesn't go in there?)

thats not bad either... I think that best will be to have precipitation if it is cloudy and uv index when its sunny out there... or UV index if it's above some value and precipitation chance every time else... or some similar logic :)

edit: I found problem with precipitation chance complication: app in iphone says 15% but watch complication shows 1%... its some kind of bug? 'cause sometimes it updates and I can see 15%, but then after next update it shows again just 1%

edit2: now it showing 2% on watch and 15% in iphone app ...for sure its bug, 'cause when I play with watchfaces for a while it will show right percentage, but after few minutes it again show just 2% (even if it is now 14%)

edit3: also is there any specific date when will be final version of app with new watch complications available?

Some sort of "smart" option might be neat, where it switches between the different options based on what's going on outside.

Where were you looking in the iPhone app? The iPhone app shows 3 different values for precipitation chance, 1) the precip chance *right now*, 2) the precip chance for each individual hour, and 3) the precip chance for the entire day. The Apple Watch complication shows the precip chance for each individual hour, rather than the one for right now or the entire day. It's unlikely the 3 different values will all be the same since it can vary so much throughout the day.

Not yet, I'm still deciding whether this update should go out relatively soon or hold it back for a big 3.0 update with more features.

OK, so I just put out the latest beta update. I went out several times over the past week to test it and the complication has been pretty much flawless in updating the location within an hour of arriving there. I'm not caching the location at all anymore, so every update of the weather data will always be for your *current* location - before, it would fall back to cached location data if a location wasn't returned after 2 seconds. Let me know how this one goes and thanks again for your patience!

exactly, smart complication between precipitation and UV would be great, especially in summer :)

ahm ok, so precipitation chance in iphone Im checking here and I was thinking that same value should be visible on watch complication, so maybe I was wrong about that bug

yep, just asking... Im ok with that, you just send me invitation to beta, so Im completely happy to be able to try new complications and stuff :) ...it was kind of funny situation, because I download beta and after few seconds I get notification, that there is new version of beta available :D

Yeah, that's the current precip chance in the screenshot - it's definitely a little confusing, but I went with the hourly value on the complication since it can only update every so often, so the average for the hour seemed to make a little more sense. And plus I had to factor in the watch face's time travel feature, so I needed hourly values for the future as well.

Just thought it to be funny to have different readings while in one location.

Do the colors of the temps in the small complication mean anything? Right now they're purple. Does this correlate to the mooniness outside?

Yep, yellow is sunny, purple moony, gray-blue is cloudy, blue is rain/snow, and gray is foggy.

today is rainy day... its like that for pretty much whole day, iphone app showing status as "raining" but watch in large complication says "/icon with water drop/, /temperature/, /city/, /hi, lo/, 70% chance of rain" is that correct behavior? I think it would be better to show something like "raining right now"? or "it will rain for next few hours/days etc." I mean its still good to have precipitation chance there, but it will make much more sense if it will be during rain with prediction how long will this rain last

If there's a 30% chance it's wrong I'd want to know. Might be the time I run the bins out etc if it does stop. I think it's useful.

In the US/UK/Canada, where forecast.io's short-term forecast is available, the complication does say "rain for the hour" or "rain stopping in 45 mins" or whatever. But it looks like you're in the EU, so that short-term forecast isn't available and so there's no real way to predict how long it's going to be raining for, just the percentage chance for each hour. So I opted to show that percentage in this case, though maybe it would make more sense to show the % chance for the *next* hour rather than the current hour.

ahm, that makes sense...

so maybe that precipitation percentage for next hour will be better choice

hi! really excited to try this app but have a quick question. the main reason I want to ditch Dark Sky is because it requires location services to be set to "always on". I know this isn't a big deal in terms of battery but I hate having the arrow icon always there because I'll never know when something ELSE is using my location.

so does this app require location to always be on? I know that you can set it to "while using" but when you do this with Dark Sky it renders it useless since it doesn't update.

that and does the main complication (on the modular face) show the location? I love that feature on the stock app.

I believe the app doesn't require location to be set to always but I always keep it in as it probably give the best chance to be as update as it possibly can.

As for your second question, your location name does show in the large complication.

My preference:

I keep Dark Sky running purely for the custom notifications for my area.

Carrot,

Maybe this could be something you might want to look at in a future update as it works really well?

I may be wrong but I believe right now that's possible but requires his Mac app to process; but he's already working on it for the future.

All this messing about with the location complication has probably delayed it. But finding the answers to problems like this makes for better coding skills so I'm sure it's not entirely a waste.

Carrot requires location to always on for it to update and the location name is only in the beta version right now.

Yes, you can switch location services to "while using" and it'll work fine on the Apple Watch. The main benefit right now of keeping it set to "always" is that the data will update a little more frequently - there's a feature on the iPhone that lets the app launch in the background if your location changes, so I was using that to force more frequent data updates if the complication hasn't updated itself recently.

The other advantage of the "always" setting is that it allows notifications forwarded from the Mac app to be specific to your current location - without the "always" setting, then the notifications will contain data for the default location your Mac is set to. (And when I eventually add notifications without requiring the Mac app, you'll need the "always" setting for the same reason.)

Yes, though this feature's currently only available in the beta. Submit a support ticket through the app to get an invite.

Yep, working on this for sometime this year! It's been delayed a bit because of the Parse backend's impending shutdown - that's what I was using to handle usernames/passwords for the subscription service, so I'll be spending a fair amount of time migrating that over to a new service. The good news is that all that work will make it easier to get the standalone notifications up and running.
