Thanks so much for this huge thread but can I ask a few cut to chase questions for setting up the complication on my wife's brand new AW SS Series 3 this Christmas morning? I have initially subscribed to the $3.99 plan for the watch that has Dark Sky data.

1. How do I set Carrot to provide alerts for upcoming precipitation (local, near term) on the watch? Can it, I know I could use Dark Sky but I'd rather just use Carrot?
2. I like Weather Underground data in general, in particular the ability to use local weather stations. Not sure if that part of WU data is supported by Carrot. I'm not opposed to paying the $9.99 for the WU data but I'm wondering if you find it makes a big difference in accuracy vs. just using Dark Sky. I'm undecided if paying extra for the WU data in order to power a watch complication makes sense for me.

Thanks all, Merry Christmas!

1. In the settings screen on the iPhone app, go to notifications and turn on precipitation notifications :p

2. Yes, you can set saved locations to use specific weather stations - or to always use a particular weather station when you're within 500m of it. As to the accuracy of WU vs Dark Sky, it really depends on your location. WU is better for some locations, while DS is better for others. I recommend checking both forecasts against a third-party source, like Apple's weather app, to see which is best for your area.

Thanks, and congratulations on your new baby! Merry Christmas!

I’ve noticed that when I go to the widget screen the forecast icons are mixed up ie. 2 days are swapped (the middle 2). Leaving the widget page and then going back corrects the issue.

Good catch! Will get that fixed.

Hello - I'm a long time Weather Underground premium member. I've seen MakerOfCARROT post here and be super responsive. I've always wanted to try the app. When I found out that your app can have Weather Underground as its data source, I sprung on it. I have no problem paying Weather Underground $10/year - and paying super responsive developers for their apps.

Today I happily joined the U-P membership - $9/year is very acceptable. Had I known WU was a data source, I probably would have switched earlier (my own ignorance).

Thanks for a great app - really really really like the way you display weather on the iPhone and wow the app is actually usable on the Apple Watch. Hope your Christmas was merry and Happy New Year!

- A Happy CARROT user.

Same here! Even though I just paid $10 for Weather Underground, I happily paid the $9.99 for Ultra Premium cuz I'm a huge fan of Weather Underground. There was a 7F difference between Dark Sky and Weather Underground in Carrot where I live (California, high desert - 2 hours north east of Los Angeles) with Weather Underground being far more accurate. Can't believe I didn't do this earlier - the AW and iPhone apps are amazing.

Hi, Just got the app and a premium subscription as a Christmas present for myself. Was wondering (as I read in some FAQ somewhere) does the watch app need to be in the dock in order for the notifications to work? I prefer to have the dock set to 'recently used apps'.

Many thanks!

Notifications have worked for me without the app being in the dock. I just had to make sure notifications were turned on for it. But I'm a new AW 3 owner so hopefully others will chime in (1 month of ownership just recently).

Received a comprehensive Ice Warning this morning on my Watch. It concluded “Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces are possible”. Disappointed there wasn’t a smiley face at the end.

I took commentary off the severe weather alerts notifications - I didn't want someone to see a message joking about people dying when people could be literally dying :\

You need to *either* have it in the dock or as a complication on your current watch face. I just tell people to have both as a backup in case they forget and switch to a watch face that doesn't show the CARROT complication.

Ah ok - that makes sense. CARROT is a complication on all my watch faces so that's why I get them. Thank you for the info!

Thanks for that! One other question. Does the extremity of the AI voice settings affect the ‘snark’ text on the watch complications or is it ‘one snark fits all’?

There’s a discrepancy between the modular complication and the watch/phone app. Complication says ‘snow’, apps say 0% chance of precipitation (although I think there’s supposed to be snow tomorrow).

(Edit: in fact it looks like tomorrow’s forecast is showing on the complication).

Which watch face are you using? And is the complication in the large or small slot?
