Apps CARROT Weather's customizable complications

I was just about to write the same thing. It says it's raining on the watch every morning even though it's freezing outside. Looking forward to the update.

Fan of the update.

One question - the FAQ says two small complications is not possible. If that's the case, why give us the ability to customise small slot 2 on almost every watch face?

The reason you're seeing a slot 2 is because you have CARROT Fit installed on your phone.

Technically, a single app can only have a single complication per slot type. But I found a workaround where I can take over the complications of one of my other apps, allowing for a second corner or circle slot. You’ll also need to install the beta of Fit, which you can sign up for here: https://testflight.apple.com/join/rhsofJcx Then add the CARROT^3 complication to your watch face, which you can customize from the Weather app on your iPhone.

So I do! I’d honestly forgotten about it. Did it at one point work with the release version?

Lol wow. You’re definitely entitled to your opinion. It is mine that after trying several weather apps the customization this one gives makes it worth every penny for me. That and it doesn’t have a bazillion ads every time I open it up. The Apple Watch compilation is the best in its class. The ability to choose the WU station in my apartment complex is cool too. Ignorance is bliss. :)
When you access the data from a weather station from Weather Underground which you when you select Weather Channel as your source … these local weather stations are ordinary people with their own weather measuring equipment?

Would they know who’s accessing their equipment for weather data? Any privacy concerns to think about? I guess the big benefit is getting local snow fall data as snowfall amounts can vary greatly in a small area. Would these “amateur” weather stations provide snowfall info?

Edit: testcard brings up a good point --- they probably connect to the WU Grid first.

Like every site we visit, they get a lot of data from us, right? Browser version, OS version, IP Address, ISP, etc... I knew someone who ran their own WU weather station. You just hook it up to the internet and it does its thing.

I do know my former coworker commented about how much data the weather station used but I don't think he could see who used it.

I don't think it does snow fall, but did do rain. Some of them can get pretty expensive.

I might be wrong, but surely the data would be taken from the Weather Channel or Wunderground servers rather than directly from someone with a weather station in their back garden?

Good point... That is my assumption as well, you'd think this would connect to the WU network (now Weather Channel) and every time someone asked WU for data, their servers would poll the weather station.

That makes sense. I'm also guessing that the local weather stations also send back weather data on a regular basis (hourly?) to ensure hyperlocal accuracy.

Yes, as others mentioned they're mostly but not all coming from regular users. Other stations are maintained by airports or schools. And the data is getting uploaded directly to WU's servers, so other people aren't connecting to the stations directly. I don't know of any consumer stations that measure snow depth, but many do measure rainfall.

If resetting doesn’t work, try deleting app and reinstalling. Failing that, unpair and repair usually works for a non-responsive app.
It isn't working for me either, I have deleted the app from the watch and the phone, maybe ill try and repair the watch also and will report back!

Just make sure you’ve covered all the basics - installed the app on your Watch, selected Mirror iPhone alerts in Notifications in the Watch app, then in the Carrot app on your iPhone > Settings > Apple Watch > Complications and decide what data you want to see. Finally, hit the Synchronise button. Then you can go back into the Watch app, select your Face and where you want Carrot data to appear.

Apple Watch complication rarely updates after following all the tips in this thread. No confidence that the premium subscription would fix that. So disappointing for a highly touted app.

The Apple Watch complication doesn't really update in the background without the subscription. One of the main reasons to upgrade to Premium Club is for the background complication updates.

And I can confirm that it does update just fine with the Premium Club, so no need to worry about that.

I have to agree with the above guys....I LOVE all the updates and I have upgraded to tier 3.

Question I have activated 2 critical updates ( tornado warning, severe thunderstorm warning ) and I always place my iPhone into global DND before retiring to bed. I always wear a apple watch to bed and I am hoping the critical warning works on the watch while I am sleeping?( in global DND as well )

Am I correct in assuming that Tiers 2 and 3 are additive, meaning that Tier 2 includes all of Tier 1 plus the listed options, and Tier 3 is all-inclusive? Just wanting to verify.
