My picks:
1. Robotech/Macross Plus
- Seeing what Avatar did with the army and tech ... this is feasible. Robotech can go 3 movies saga but WAAY too much melodrama. Macross Plus features the classical and well missed bizarre love triangle of friendships.
2. ThunderCats (Silverhawks silent mention): Lion-o, and my favorite Panthro will do pretty nice on the big screen; who can forget Cheetara with those HUGE ... funbags bouncing at top running speeds

. Yeah the storey got week until second season Mumra was boring.
3. Bravestar ... if they adjust the storey a tad bit .. using more influences of native indian cultures in North America (not just the US) then it would be sweet; something different that Holywood avoids.
SMurfs ... sorry that's just a sad porno waiting to happen ... kids are not as gullible as we where at 4-7; and appealing to teens would be a joke.
The Last Airbender. Sorry it was a DELIGHT to see that a few hours ago. Yes I was annoyed with aung vs ANG name, but that kid was PERFECT for the Avatar; voice, movement child-look delight for fun & interest matched the original character ~ not enough fun in jokes was done in this movie. Sooka ("its trying to eat me" vs "Ahhhhh. .... its trying ... to ... eat me" irked me! horrible acting and directing skills there. To be honest even in the cartoon I figured earth benders in the largest continent would be of latin/black decent at least in the real action but nope (we're still shunned by holywood).
I've watched cartoons ALL MY LIFE ... and for the past 20years VERY few have interested me Sixteen & The Last Airbender are the only 2 really that I'd watch habitually. The MAIN point of these two ... especially The LAST Airbender is that it focused on 3 MAIN points of cartoons in the first place: FUN to watch - helps relaxes you, entertain plots that were not feasible in real action at the time or attrack audience to something that may make them go hmm, and finally meant for ADULTS with the ability to appeal to kids. The Last Airbender was to entice kids and yet certain shows entertained Adults case in point: "The Bulldozer feels conflicted striking a girl, pong (in head with rock), The Bulldozer is over his confliction"!! That has The ROCK from wrestling (and even the nuances in animation of Randy MachoMan Savage back in the day). No KID would see this.
For the fair short amount of time, squeezing in narations in such a condensed plot ... Shyalaman did a FANTASTIC job ... the last sequence of combat scenes, Ang (or aung) Tai Chi movements & balance was incredible (pure Taoist style).
Zooko doesn't look like the cartoon (but the cartoon was NOT mastered in art; it was the character flaws, strengths anger & evolution of growth along with misplaced desire/passion that MADE him, not his looks). The actor has potential; awaiting the next chapter.
Ang ... perfect NUFF SAID!
Sooka ... really was a silly clown, bafoon ... really a young tween boy trying to be a man with hardly ANY guidance; so don't expect much of him.
(water bender chick; forgot the name) not a bad job reflecting the character but its a demanding role to be sweet, sensitive, supportive (almost like an older sister/mother) and yet STRONG & protective like a girlfriend/best female-friend. A Tomboy if you will ... yet still remain vulnerable on occasion ... give her time to evolve and with the right acting skills & directing and dialog it COULD work.
MISS Opportunity: Introduction of Zooko and Sooka preparing to fight and get the kids "stand at your ready men!" ... that would've warmed the hearts of the audience and TRULY show the character almost in an entirety.
