For those in the UK, Tesco are selling, special offer half price at £9.98 a netbook messenger bag which fits up to 11.6" by TechAir. Has a slip folder that would fit the ipad too and a few pockets for pens etc. with a earphone access point. It is really good and fits the 11.6 Air perfectly. Its very lightweight too and not too big. Very happy.

I'll take a look at that. I personally was looking for something quite small without handles but I'll see if I can find this.

Today, I went to the Tom Bihn factory store here in Seattle to try out the Ristretto iPad bag.

I ended up buying it. It seems to fit the MBA 11" well, although the end of the MBA is just a hair long for the bag.

I'm satisfied with it, so far.

Yes! I have that bag for the iPad and love it. I was thrilled to see the 11" could fit it. You are right that it's a little long but it fits well enough. I was using the bag to carry the 11" MBA after I bought it. You can also get their organizer pouches and clip them to eyelets in the bag. Works great for cables, headphones, and other little stuff.

Could you take a picture of the 11" MBA in the Ristretto so I can see the fit? The CS folks at Tom Bihn are telling me a Cache and Large Cafe Bag are a better solution but I really want the Ristretto.

Thanks!

Here's three. The first shows the inner flap folded back so you can see the MBA. The second shows it with the inner flap closed. Note the seam that is about 1/2 inch below the top. This would be at the top with the iPad in there but there's just enough flap so it can be closed over the MBA. The final show it with the outer flap closed. Note that isn't just the MBA. I also have four Tom Bihn organizers and a bunch of other stuff in there. The only dimension that is tight at all is the overall length. Over than that it's great.

Hey, you got the same color i got. good choice!

i'm debating whether to get the organizer clips. what sizes fit in the bag? which ones are you using? i might need some for the MBA powercord, maybe my sprint overdrive and cable.

I've got two mini padded and two small padded. Two minis and a small in the space in front of the sleeve area, one small in the front compartment. Works great for all the iPad accessories, headphones, and charger. I just tried the MBA charger. You might be able to fit it in a mini but it's going to be a tough struggle. I think you would need at least a small to comfortably fit it.

Does anyone know any sleeve for the 13" Air. I would like it to be a normal sleeve, BUT with a hard shell. I saw some for MBP 15" but i can't remember the maker of the sleeves. They had a hard shell and somekind of neoprene coating inside or something like that.

Any recommendations?

You mean like the Zeroshock?

I have one for my macbook pro 13 inch and I don't see why it wouldn't be a perfect fit for the 13 inch air

Incidentally. I ordered the 11.6 inch one with handles for my mba 11.6 going to see if it fits even though the mba will be ~0.4 inches too wide for it.

yes the 11 air and iPad both fit in the ristretto at the same time (i have the black & wasabi). width and depth is no problem. But personally, I don't like how high up the 11 sticks out (like another 1-2 inches above the edge), I also don't think it feels as safe & secure as when i only have the ipad in there.

The flap does a great job not only protecting the ipad, but also holding it in. But when you add in the 11, it really leaves you air exposed to potential damage. As soon as you open your bag, the flap falls open. Most of the time this may be fine, but for everyday use, i personally won't use it for my air.

I will say that until i find a replacement, it is all I have. My wife tells me that I am worse then she is with bags. It is hard to argue when I am on the prowl for a new daily bag.

Tom Bihn makes two cases, the Ristretto for iPad/Netbooks and the Ristretto. I have the former. It will carry the iPad or the MBA 11.6". It could carry both if you really want but it's not made for that. If you want to carry both, I'd recommend the Ristretto which is the same but slightly larger. That bag can fit the MBA 13" also.

They are in her etsy shop right now, only six at the moment, and she sold already one within an hour, contact her on etsy for a MR discount:
