Yes, but they have removed the rating of songs feature. Too bad as this is how I make some of my smart playlists.

If this is missing in the final version, I guess I'm not upgrading to iOS 10. I'm in the same boat as you, thousands of songs I've rated over the years and a number of smart playlists that including rating as one of the criteria. What possible reason would they have for eliminating this feature? Why do they have to take away features almost every time they update something recently?

Apple still has flakey issues with iCloud Music Library and the fact that they seem to be going further into depending on it worries me a little.

For example, I noticed today that the star ratings on nearly my entire library were nuked. I had spend YEARS curating the star ratings. I immediately turned off iCloud Music Library and poured through backups until I found the last one that still had the ratings, and restored to it. Thankfully it only happened a few days ago. Note that I don't run iOS 10 beta at all; this was with iOS 9 and the current version of iTunes on my Mac.

The fact that Apple destroyed this metadata silently scared the hell out of me. Now I consider the $24.99 I spent for iTunes Match as wasted and it's disabled on all my devices. I can never really trust this service again!

Dumbing down to the lowest IQ than can buy a phone I guess. They keep nerfing features across the board (disk utility I'm looking at you).

I absolutely hated this new design when I saw it at WWDC. Now after running it for a few days on my iPhone and iPad, it has really grown on me. Especially on the iPad.

Can someone explain this new Automatic Downloads feature? Starts at 25:22.

What I mean is Spotify has a switch which downloads all your music and any more music you add later on automatically where Apple Music you have to go out of your way to download each song.
iOS 10 has such a switch as well in Settings under Music. There you can say whether to download all music or 8, 16, 32 or 64 GB worth of it.

All kinds of complaining by people that haven't yet used it but choose to form opinions before experiencing it. We saw the same with people crying about Apple Watch battery life before it was released, only to find that it's more than sufficient.

Can't seem to download all of an artist's albums in one go. Have to do each album individually.

No way to sort artist's albums. Alphabetical or nothing.

Feels like this got dumbed down too much.

Watched the vid. Really hate the look of the app. Hate the ugly red font. Hate the interminable photos which tell you nothing and clog up the works.

Apple perfected the music app with the first iPhone. Simple track listings that you could scroll through buttery-smooth. Quick, efficient, informative, easy to use and easy to organise.

Now, we have cumbersome side-scrolling and endless ads for Apple Music foisted upon us. Enough, Apple, just, enough. Bring back Forstall.

So they've finally started copying Spotify. Good job.

Or, considering this works more like the original music app, Spotify copied Apple?

It looks like Apple really nailed it the first time but they decided to get a little too experimental with their UI over the years and now they've come full circle.. at least with the foundation.

It's much more feature-rich now and with iTunes Match, better than Spotify in every area IMO with the exception of social which I'm sure will get addressed with a revamp of their Connect feature in the future.

I think I they were to use a better typography my issues with the design would largely disappear. The bold fonts are ugly as hell and is not inconsistent.

I am still in the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" camp. It wasn't broke years ago, and they "fixed" it.

Apple practically invented music library navigation, and it was great for years. Recently, I feel like they have just been making changes for the sake of making changes.

Still can't get past the size of the fonts, they look so out of place in that app.

The fonts are really buggy atm, don't move in sync with system changes. Who knows what the final look will be at this point.

My biggest beef with the app at this point in time is the changes to the 'For You' section. The amount of content is much lower than before and I feel like it's actually less relevant to me. Especially annoying is the 'heavy rotation' section - they could put that in the Library section, the For You section is supposed to be about new music!
