I think it looks quite bad. I hope that I like it better when I actually use it, or at least that I can tweak it in settings enough to make it tolerable, like with the current version.

Edit: Er... Interesting song lyrics as an example in the video.. I'm not sure any of us could post those in text and get away with it (rightly so!).

It "uses" a lot better than it "looks". Most of the app I think could be vastly improved by slight visual adjustments. It's not that the app or its structure is bad, it's just that the way they've executed it looks horrendous. The big fonts are ridiculous and the whole front page being taken up by "artists, albums..." etc is a waste of space. They also need to change the Now Playing screen to be its own full screen - that "card" layout/concept doesn't work for me.

Wow. I really, REALLY, really miss the original pre-Apple Music iTunes for iOS now. This looks horrible. What happened to simplicity? Can they at least shove Apple @#$@# Music into its own app and leave my playlists alone?

Apple used to be a company that defined a standard. Now they just copy others??? So sad. Steve Jobs must be spinning in his grave.

And the large font is awful. One reason for sure to avoid this turkey.

Ugh. Still hate it. Too much going on that I don't care about. For what its worth I like my Apple Music subscription... This interface still is all kinds of bleh

Very disappointed with this release. I don't really care about fonts. I want functionality. I want control over my smart playlists. I want control over my meta data. And I want a better system for search others playlists. Also adding new music notifications and concert announcement notifications would be great. This did nothing to make Apple Music better. Why can't a company with so many resources put some effort into this. If they spent as much time on Apple Music as they did emojis we would have one rocking music app.

So true!!!

I've been using Apple Music with my iPad mini, on my car's dashboard, for months. It's been a convoluted mess to navigate. This new version, utilized in this manner, is improved by leaps and bounds. It's much simpler to navigate, and I prefer the new font as well.

All kinds of complaining by people that haven't yet used it but choose to form opinions before experiencing it. We saw the same with people crying about Apple Watch battery life before it was released, only to find that it's more than sufficient.
I am complaining about features that are not in the new version. I don't have to use it to know the features aren't present.

That doesn't make sense. I shouldn't have to search through two separate apps to find one song or album. That's like trying to remember 10,000+ songs and exactly whether they are local or streamed.
They could simply make a simple player app in addition to Music app. That way you could use one if you stream for everything and one if you don't without all the extra stuff. Not going to happen but would be nice.

This is a much clearer layout, but I really don't like the design language and how it blends with the rest of the OS.

In my opinion, Apple had it right on the first original ipod.. That was perfectly intuitive, fast and it was easy find my music. Then the original iPhone music app was also ok (and looked awesome). Since then the music app (and itunes as well) including the new music app has fallen like a bag of sement to the floor. Menus all over the place, whats on your device and whats not, and why is it still there after I thought I removed it, how do I actually find the song I am looking for, and more is daily problems using this app. I have constantly tried to find alternative music apps especially for the ipad but its hard to find a decent app doing and looking the way I want it. This new version still look like a mess to me with fonts, menus all over the place.

Looks like an improvement, looking forward to giving it a go.

Though judging by the changes, why wait for iOS 10 to update? To pad out the improvements in iOS 10?

Completely agree. Reminds me of a cross between Spotify and zune. Apple had it right in the beginning with iTunes, cause it was intuitive . Just looked at try video and current music app to compare, and still have how un initiative AW is, with hidden menus everywhere, I wish they would split my library and AW into two apps.

"Browse", "For you", "Radio", "Search". I don't want that. I want "Playlists", "albums", "songs", "genres".

Enough of this. I'm building my own music app.

You might not have to build your own.

There are many of those "DJ" apps that let you play songs from your library, adjust tempo, etc. If those exist in the App Store... there must be other simpler players.

I've honestly never looked for an alternative music player. But I'm sure they are out there.

EDIT: Here are some: LINK

Anyone know if the new lyrics support allows for lyrics that were added to the song in iTunes?

Had a look at that link, its interesting to see so few alternatives and no stand out app. maybe just need to keep looking, but many lack reviews. Might have to do some googling

Exactly! I am sooooo tired of the music app showing me what's in my iTunes match library all the time despite using the toggle switch to select it to only show what's downloaded into my phone and not in the cloud. I still can't fathom why they can't keep this from happening. It is especially annoying when you have a very large library

If you are in My Music just tap "Albums" in the line, when you are in Playlists just tab "All Playlists" in the line. Both give you the option just to show you the music you have downloaded on your device instead of everything in match. If that is what you mean: this setting seams to be persistent, even after a restart of the application on my phone

ok, after watching the video:
i'm having a hard time understanding the need for separate search, browse, and for you sections.
i mean, there are THREE separate tabs for features that are basically similar: searching/shuffling/discovering.

why would i choose browse instead of search?
does search search only my local library or also the store? how do i know that?
why then not having the usual drop down bar at the top of the library section, like we have in most apps?
why would i choose browse over for you?
i mean, why would i want to shuffle artists based on everyone's taste, instead of my own personal taste?
if i mostly listen to what's trending already (pop, hits), then the two selections will be the same or very similar.
if i mostly listen to niche, unpopular music, then i won't care about what's trending, and i wouldn't want use the browse feature at all.

last but most important: why not having a "now playing" section tab down there instead of the annoying floating thing??!!

meh, big meh.
maybe my way of listening to music is too different from the average user's. luckily there are other options.
