I think this will be the first time I don't preorder a phone online. Going to have to go into the store on the 19th to play with both sizes of the iPhone 6. Can't make up my mind.
I've waited in line at my local Apple Store in the past for product launches, and I've never been able to go in and "test" the different products before. Employees walk down the line and ask you what model you want, and then you get it once it goes on sale. That being said, they MIGHT do it the way you're talking about this year simply for the fact that we can only imagine what they feel like. They have to decide which is less painful, forcing those in line to pick a model and then deal with an unbelievable amount of buyer's remorse over the coming days from people wanting to go up/down a size. Or do they let us decide what we want after playing with them for a few minutes once the doors open, but have all these stragglers who can't make up their minds holding up the line. All I know is, I'm so glad I'm not in that position

You DO realize that the cost per month is $15 or $25 higher on a 2 year contract vs. buying it outright and not being on contract?

$25 a month for contracts 6 gig or less, $15 a month for contracts 10 gig or higher.

So, your $749 is actually $749 + (15 x 24 = 360) = $1099, or $749 + (25 x 24 = 600) = $1349.

A no-brainer in the opposite way than you were thinking.

But you haven't seen how much my bill is per month and you also don't know how much data I'm using or if I have unlimited data... so.... yeah... awkward...

Why do people on forums act like THEIR life is exactly like everyone else's?

i just printed it and i do not think it is accurate. the 4.7" is only a little big bigger then my 5S. The 5.5" seems to be a great size if these are real.

UPDATE: i just broke out the tape measure and compared the size to the specs from apple's website (http://store.apple.com/us/buy-iphone/iphone6) and the images are smaller then what the actual phone is. it is such a great idea its just not accurate.

The ones I printed are pretty dead on.

Live blog is here: http://live.cnet.com/Event/T-Mobiles_Uncarrier_70_event

Hopefully it's something iPhone related since they're obviously riding the hype wave, having an announcement the very next day.

T-Mobile really hasn't been bad for me. The data is great even here in Michigan. You just hit literal dead zones where calls will drop. On my drive home, I can predict exactly where I'll lose a call.

I'm really not a phone call person so I only have few calls. I'm more worried about data speed and coverage really. I'll have to do some research about it here in nyc.

Whatever happened to early upgrades AT&T used to have ? You know. You get a phone on a 2-year contract then 12-18 months later you're eligible for an upgrade.

I got the 5S In Sept. 2013 and AT&T shows I'm eligible for an upgrade in Sept. 2015.

They stopped doing that when they added their next plan. Subsidized phones for all carriers are slowly going away.

If you do next you can upgrade now even on a 2 year contract. And with next you can upgrade as early as every 12 months if you so wish. You'll need a mobile share plan which will save some money over their older traditional plans.

Should I be worried that I am not seeing the option to pay full price? I bought my iPhone 5s on launch date last year.... But I would think you are eligible to buy at full price any time no matter what.

I got my iPhone 5S launch day last year also and I don't show eligible price.

What the heck is AT&T doing ? I'm confused now.

I'm pretty sure that two of my lines have already passed the 2 year commitment. The AT&T website says that these are eligible to upgrade, but with a $40 upgrade fee. Is that new? Sounds a bit steep.

I wish Apple were more clear about the hardware differences between their models. (Sidebar: I wish Apple only sold one universal-band model, unlocked--and any subsidy is between you and your carrier. But I digress.)

Is the "T-Mobile" unlocked model exactly identical to the AT&T model hardware, except for the anticompetitive carrier locking? If so, why brand it as "T-Mobile"?

Like others, I want to order an unlocked phone on launch day and use an AT&T SIM...

I also took a picture of the Plus in my back pocket, where I usually keep my phone.[...] My feeling is it's just too big.
A phone in the backpocket... with just a little criminal energy which I sadly do not have at all I would say - it is easier to steal those phones "for parts" than doing my real job. No theft prevention can be that good to not come up with such thoughts.

And where can you find these? The only thing you can see from their website is that they are going to bill you monthly for the full cost of the phone eventually, and it looks like you have to turn in the phone. So I'm paying full price and I have to give it back?

The cost of the phone is amortized over 20 or 24 months. But you can choose a 12 or 18 month upgrade plan(this varies your monthly fee). You can keep the phone until it's paid off in 20 or 24 months and it's yours. No interest.

However if you want you can turn the phone back in(in good condition) in 12 or 18 months, depending on what you signed up for and they will waive the remaining balance for the phone and you can then upgrade to another phone.

There are no upgrade fees or activation fees with next. You walk in, get a phone, pay nothing and walk out. Your monthly bill will be however much higher for the lease of the phone over the period you signed up for.

On our mobile share plan of 10gb it's $100/month plus $15/line. I think if you have less than a 10gb plan you pay whatever the monthly fee is plus $25/line. But on next on a less than 10gb/month plan when you get a new phone that line will be discounted down to $15/month. 10gb and above plan is not discounted because you're already at $15/line.

My cost for a 128gb 6+ on AT&T is $749 with a renewal of a 2 year contract or 20 payments $47.45 that totals $949... No brainer.

Agreed...for us in the US...can't imagine it would be that convenient in other countries were people have to front the whole amount + VAT

what template did you use?

----------

maybe i should check my printer

I used the template on the Apple website. Did a screen capture, then edited in Photoshop down to the mm, then printed it, layered it on cardboard and cut.

Bad Math. ATT gives you a $25/mo discount if you're on a mobile share plan. Plus, you can upgrade again at 12 months and the payments for month 13-20 are waived. So when the iPhone 6 Plus S (or whatever is released) you've really only paid $269.40 (12 x ($47.45-$25.00)).
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I AM on a mobile share plan. Thank you for telling me what my plan is, total stranger. :)

Already double checked both my lines for eligibility yesterday. Ready to go! :D

Let the pre-orders begin!!!

:apple:

PS, if one preorders a phone for pick-up at an Apple Store, how long will they hold on to it? I will be traveling on the phone launch day, and can't have it shipped directly to me. :(

So where's the box to order while using the Next plan?
I hope that will be an option on Apple's website.
AT&Ts website sucks on pre-order days.

The "Cellular and Wireless" sections show the device differences. It's unclear which carrier is A1586/A1524, though TD-SCDMA is China, so maybe that's China specific. The CDMA is for Verizon, the GSM is for ATT/T-Mobile.

4S trade-in value?

Does anyone have advice as to who will give best trade-in value for 16GB 4s?

-I'm upgrade eligible on Verizon
-I would take the 5s for free exchanged for the 4s
-Or I would take the 6 for ~$99 with 4s trade in (OR FREE!)

Thanks!
