I might go back to wired charging eventually (MagSafe has been convenient, but does seem to degrade my battery even more rapidly than conventional wireless charging), but for now, there is actually incentive for me to bring my iPhone’s battery health to below 80% so I qualify for the free battery replacement courtesy of AppleCare+ (which expires some time in Nov).

I watched the Max Tech video on the iPhone 14 battery problems and he thinks that it's the speed of charging moreso than MagSafe. My daughter just had her battery replaced on her iPhone 8 after 4 years and she just did 5 watt charging. I've had my 13 mini and charge with MagSafe and I've seen no dropoff in battery life after 2 years.

I wouldn't worry about the Chinese military. They only exist by stealing IP from other nations and they're barely able to fight. The USA could sink the Chinese navy in an afternoon.

From what I'm told in terms of conventional warfare, you're right, but my concern is nuclear blackmail.

No it won't. They are projected for a massive population collapse in the next 10-15 years. That will be their undoing.
According to the UN World Population Forecast, the 15-year decline is 40,000,000 or 2.5%. However, by 2100 the forecast decline is 663,330,000 or 46%!! They forecast the US as growing by 54m or 16% by 2100. (Though the timing is different, you raise a remarkable point.)

I have a 12. I use it for its phone capability. If I want to take a photo I grab one of my cameras.

I use a Fujifilm X-T3 for most of my photography, but the iPhone camera can be very functional. The problem with it is over processing. You can get some really weird looking images out of it. Apple needs to back away from the deep computational processing and place more weight on overall image quality.

Well play Apple.

Apple has positioned itself as luxurious brand (or top tier, or high end, whatever you call it). Most rich people, not only in Asia but the whole world, will certainly get iPhone. A smaller percentage will get Samsung or anything else for a secondary phone. A drop in world economy and a higher cost of living will not impact Apple position as much because the rich will always stay rich (or richer) and the needs of iPhone will remain the same. The same thing can't really be said to the mid to low end phones.
