Chinao folio case (open bezel, auto sleep/wake)

Hey sotie . . . any new complaints after using the case for a little while?

I am looking at this case or the CHINAO Apple iPad 2 Premium Synthetic Leather Smart Case from the same seller (The one without the multi-angle positions). There are only 2 pics of the other case but they seem to be pretty similar except for the viewing angles.

I have ordered this case to try it out. I really like the look in the pics, and the different viewing angles are nice when using it in your lap. I'll post more info and opinions after I get it, which should be today or tomorrow.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents about the case. Got it last week, love it. Absolutely no complaints thus far. Had 3-4 cases for my iPad 2, and this is by far the best one. I got the darker color, will upload photos if anyone is interested.

I haven't noticed any more negatives.

Also, Chinao's vaja clone is finally coming to this seller. Should be next week. The materials will be the same as these and they will also be offering premium leather versions as well. I'm considering picking one up for a friend as a gift. If I do I'll post pictures here for you guys before I give it to him!

I think the vaja clone is the one that I have also been looking at and trying to compare it to the Chinao case in this thread. There are only two pictures right now so it is hard to compare. Maybe there will be more next week, hopefully the price will still be the same then.

I have both the dark and the reddish brown. No real complaints other then the flap doesn't stay shut on its own. You get over that pretty quick. Good case, good price

ok great thanks it looked like a nice case for the money, and a different look, im thinking about the premium leather one it looks nice too but the brown will go with my Muzetto bag it looks close in color....

Just received this case in mail, loving it so far.
Looks nice, good grip, ample protection without too much bulk. Smart cover function works perfectly.

Good to hear just ordered the dark brown vaja clone, I'm not into watching videos so I think the typing angle will be better on it verses the stand version.

I just received the vaja clone. Here are some pics in case anyone wants to see them.

Only thing I don't like so far is that the cover does not lay flat against the case where the seam is on the front cover. I am hoping it will lay down flatter as I use it more. (UPDATE: Seller contacted me and said this will lay flatter over time as the case gets broken in and gave me a tip for speeding this process)

Another thing that people might have a problem with is when using the case in display mode, the cover can't go all the way into the flap in the back or the case will not stand upright. (UPDATE: Seller contacted me and let me know that the flap portion of the cover (the part that forms the bottom when in standing mode) was not pulled out enough. I pulled it out further and now I don't have any problems with it inserting the cover all the way into the flap.

Overall, I really like the feel of the case and how slim it is compared to other cases I have used. I also like that the color of the stitching is different from what is displayed on the vendor's website and actually looks better on the case. Sleep/Wake functionality seems to work without any problems.

I am not sure why but on the previous page when they were discussing the other Chinao case, someone said the vendor's name cannot be mentioned on the website. If you Google "Chinao iPad 2 case" it is the first result returned. Let me know if you can't find it and I will send you a PM.

I just checked and looks like the price went back up to regular price. You may want to wait a few days to see if it goes back down. While I like this case to give some basic protection, I would not pay the regular price of $60 for it.

He has also added this newer case to Ebay, which is more in line with what I paid for it. This is the first product that I have purchased from him but would definitely buy again. Great quality and customer service.

Chinao Leather Vaja Clone

I finally received Chinao's Vaja Clone in Black Leather yesterday. I bought it as a gift for a friend but I snuck my ipad in it and took some quick pictures to post here. I purchased it from the person that we're not allowed to mention. If you google "chinao ipad 2" the website I bought it from comes up first in the search results.

I'm very happy with it! If I didn't already own a Vaja Libretto I would pick this over it considering that I paid $160 for my Vaja. I wish this was released a couple of months ago before I ordered the Vaja!

Here are some quick thoughts...

It's very professional looking and would be very appropriate for a business meeting. There's no chemical smell; it has a very faint leather smell to it. The leather has a nice feel to it; there isn't a lot of padding but it feels good. There is a magnet for auto sleep/wake. When the cover is folded over the back I couldn't trigger the sleep/wake. The interior is a soft grey microfiber. All port cutouts perfectly line up. The stitching is really nice. I really like the care they took when wrapping the leather into the corners (look at picture #5 below). When I shook the ipad upside down it didn't fall out. When the case is in the typing and video viewing positions it's very sturdy and secure.

I could only find one negative to report: The top cover on the one I received overlaps the case body a couple of millimeters too much (picture #3 below).

I didn't buy the Yoobao. However, I do have one of Yoobao's Ipad 1 cases and this leather is much softer.

I forgot to add... as you're all probably aware, the Vaja Libretto's corner is exposed and this corner design looks nicer in my opinion.

Question about the vaja style case... When it's in the stand position, is the base wide enough to be stable on a bed? The other case looks like it could be at some angles.

I just set it on the bed and it stood up fine.

Is there anything to keep the top flap of the cover shut? It doesnt look like the case has any type of closure mechanism unless the magnets are super strong.

Nothing to hold it shut... just like the Vaja.

The only thing putting me off this case is that speaker opening, I think it looks ugly and I wish they had a more elegant way of opening this up for audio. I do like the Chinao cases though.

It is just pressed in and the edges and corners secure it with pressure... just like the Vaja.

Thanks. I sometimes use my in the gym to watch videos when I am on a treadmill/cross trainer etc. I basically strap it to the display panel on the machine. Is it held very securely?
