This is laughable the Chinese have been stealing and copying from us for years the courts should throw this out as soon as it hits the judges desk

10000 to 1 this company most likely stole the technology to begin with. That's the CCP model. Steal from people who actually create and develop stuff then take credit and sue over it. Apple should get out of China ASAP.

Reminder: the article says the local Chinese appraisers do not find a patent violation. Apple need not pull out of China over this. But let’s see how it develops. And these sorts of suits have been filed against them plenty in the US, too.

OH MY!!

The Chinese copy and steal USA property all the time.

They have been on a buying spree of USA companies all during COVID.

This is about one specific company vs another specific company hence I recommend you leave your prejudices at the front door.

Chinese companies buying stuff is also irrelevant to the discussion, all companies have a tendency of buying others where they can - that’s part of capitalism.

If United States corporations are stupid enough to do business/manufacturing in China they deserve to have all their intellectual property's/patents stolen by the Chinese government. It is not a secret that China does not respect IP.

It’s Chinese 🇨🇳

But my other point is we should not rely on Chinese manufacturing for our important products. We don’t want them shaking up our life style in the US.
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., trading asFoxconn Technology Group and better known as Foxconn, is a Taiwanese multinational electronicscontract manufacturer with its headquarters in Tucheng, New Taipei City, Taiwan. In 2010, it was the world's largest provider of electronics manufacturing services[3] and the third-largest technology companyby revenue.[4] While headquartered in Taiwan, the company is the largest private employer in Mainland China and one of the largest employers worldwide.[5][6] Terry Gou is the company founder and former chairman.

In these situations the “winner” of the lawsuit is easy to determine. Who enhances and/or enriches the reputation of the Party the most? That’s who will win.

This is what we call deflection or "turning the tables". It's a strategy to change the subject or divert attention away from the rampant corporate espionage and legalized stealing of technology that has built China for the last 50 years. China would be better just saying thank you and moving on.

This is interesting to wonder how this unknown chinese company can try to get banned Apple from China based on the idea that a less-than-secondary feature might infringe its technology ... SIRI is not an important feature for the iPhone (or at least this is what I believe) and SIRI is from far not the most advanced vocal assistant on the market ...
But now, we're talking about China which is not a Democratic country, so it is also possible that this company is related to the government and is seeking to put pressure on Apple or more generally on US Industries, something like "look ! if you keep acting in Asia-Pacific area, we can manage to make lives of your companies like hell, or we can even close this giant market to your companies ..."
After all, EU and US managed to get some chinese tech companies out of their market for security reasons (which was wise to my point of view) but china can also manage to get US and EU companies out of China based on "legal" stories.
That's how geopolitics works ...

😂🤣 omg! The copy-machine saying it's producing originals.
I would not be too cocky here. After WW2 Japan was copying a lot to catch up with the western industry. But eventually they lead innovation.

This is what I was always worried about with all the companies moving production to Asia. To produce they need to understand these things and in the end they have the daily insight and innovate themselves.

And why shouldn’t they she’s in AI?

But stopping the hardware when software is the problem is ridiculous

It's important for China to protect the intellectual property of its upstanding companies so that other countries don't unfairly profit off of their innovations such as a digital assistant as capable as Siri

Now that I think about it actually Siri works as well on average as every Chinese product I've ever purchased

Huh, I thought there would be more of the regular negative Siri comments and jokes on this post, like “if they claim they invented the basics for Siri they should be hit with a class-action lawsuit for inventing such poor AI…”😏

Time Apple pulls out of China completely. They shouldn’t put up with this extortion. We can / should replace FoxConn as a company in the US; significantly cheaper than replacing TSMC.
The cost to ship all of the materials to the US would increase the cost of Apple products exponentially. It will never happen.

China doesn't honor US patents, so why would any US based company honor theirs?
The patent in question is a US patent. Just like a U.S. company can have Chinese patents, so, too, can Chinese companies have US patents. And when a U.S. company with a Chinese patent sues a Chinese company, in China, for infringing that patent, the winning percentage is more or less the same as the reverse case.
