A Chinese firm has already created a knockoff of what is supposedly the next iPhone. As reported by the French site NowhereElse.fr [Google Translate], an Android phone called the Goophone i5 was designed to look like the leaked images of the next iPhone.

Though the new iPhone is expected to be taller vertically, the Goophone sports a 940x640 3.5" screen, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. Unsurprisingly, no pricing or availability information on the Goophone is available.

..which is exactly why Apple has been leaking these parts themselves. The new iPhone is going to have a totally different look to this.

I just cannot believe that Apple would start to haemorrhage parts in the volume and quality (image) that we've been seeing, especially after Tim's statement to double down on security.

Patent Case?

I understand if they are sued for copying previous patents. But can apple go after these guys for copying the iPhone5? This phone made it out first. Could this company take Apple to court? I'm getting dizzy thinking about it!

Apple should ditch Foxconn and hire these guys as their production partners. They seem to be able to get products to market much faster!

It is not like the COO is building the iPhones in his garage.

my guess is :
1) People who are willing to pay for any iPhone parts meet up with someone capable of getting them.
or
2) People with parts...seek out people willing to pay for them.

Either way leaked pics show up on the internet and not sure Mr Cook could do anything about it.

What's new. Soon we'll have imitation Mars Rover. They even fake foods that feed their own population. Good for their own domestic consumption as these knockoffs won't get to this shore.

Is it just me or has Apple's ability to control leaks totally gone down the tubes since Jobs passed?

Seriously, for a company that once managed to have dramatic unveilings of products nobody had seen before, it's pretty embarrassing to have some crappy Android clone come out 2 weeks prior to the real thing.

Unless this is all an elaborate decoy, which would be most impressive.
