They seem killer features to me. Hopefully Apple will update Find My functionality in the future. Although they’ve had 2 years developing AirTag already so I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Sorry not direct link but if you have a look on chipolo Twitter account the questions have been asked about find phone feature (double click) and out of range alerts, precision tracking etc
And unfortunately they’ve replied that these features are not included with the spot model.

I mean they’re not wrong. Very silly over sight
It's not even close to an oversight. Apple's typical customers are going to want to put these in something, and adding a hole would make these bigger than they need to be. Moreover, some of Apple's customers will buy accessories directly from Apple, so there is a new revenue stream there. But unless you want a naked plastic thing hanging off your bag/keyring/etc. (in which case you could have gone with a Tile already), Apple's approach is good for consumers, too.

not being able to clip anything through an Air Tag and having to buy an accessory to do it is classic .
Where there's another $ to be made, they'll figure out a way to make it

but do the non-apple tracker brands work on FIND MY app though? I mean, can it work with such precision as AirTag was marketed?

yes and no. Yes FIND MY is theoretically fully featured in third parties, but the precision shown requires a built in U1 chip, otherwise its just a bluetooth device like tile with so so precision. Third parties CAN license the U1, but my bet is most won't because of cost.

Would it have killed them to put a simple loop on it? It cost $29 just to connect it to something? That's ridiculous.
You can get one from Belkin for $12.

I got Apple's Product RED keyring holder for $29 because I thought it looked nicer and I usually like the Product RED stuff.

I'm going to attach it to my car key which would probably cost me about $300 to replace.

That way my car won't become a $10,000 paper weight sitting in the driveway.

$29 doesn't seem so bad all of a sudden, does it? 🤔

Can you spot the difference?

Yep, no U1 support. Pass.
This right here! I don't need something to tell me my keys are in my house. I need to know where in my house. Chipolo have been so quiet about actual features.

Also, it looks like it's not battery replaceable. How long will it last before you have to bin it?

I’ve thought about this but isn’t it possible the hole was left off intentionally so there is not this clear advantage to getting Airtags? Chipolo already doesn’t have access to the U1 yet and every time Apple utilizes the phone’s capabilities, capabilities that competitors don’t always have access to, the narrative is they are being anti competitive. So now, if people still choose Airtags with this missing, it’s one less excuse
Others can argue that U1 is such a huge advantage that people are willing to pay an extra £35 for accessories just to have the device with U1.

Chipolo's ONE Spot won't be available for preorder for another two weeks and it's not shipping out until June, which puts it well behind the AirTags. AirTags will begin arriving to customers later this week.
Their dig against AirTags would hold a lot more weight if their product was available now. AirTags are going to be popular and the accessories will build up the ecosystem, similar to what the watch bands did for the Apple Watch.

I'm glad they're going to be around to offer a choice, but by the time their product will be available, the market momentum will be strongly against them.

Could add a hole and also put it into another cost accessory if desired. At least add the hole for an option

It's absolutely stupid of Apple to have not put a simple hole somewhere in the AirTag to allow it to easily be put on a keyring or dog collar, or zip-tied to just about anything.

Apple sure can design a hole in AirTag, but it cannot force the CR2032 batteries to all have a hole at the same location. Among all of these people commenting here, how surprising none understand such a simple fact!

I think you all missed the point about the hole. With it, one will insert AirTags in the key ring, which will make keys to grind against AirTags inside pockets. Apple must have thought about it, of course. Not a trillion dollars company by chance.
