this ad is saying: 'we now 5G is not available almost anywhere so we will make this ad to make you think otherwise.'
What a bunch of nonsense. It will take few years before 5G is actually here. No point now

My question is whether Verizon vs AT&T vs T-Mobile will make any real difference in the 5G iPhone 12s, whether now or in the next year or two. Upgrading for the first time in 3 years and not locked to a carrier, do I switch to Verizon or stay with AT&T.

It’s faster we get it, but just an excuse to put the monthly bills up 99% of the time it won’t be needed as I’m sure downloading babyshark doesn’t need 5g or sending a text to someone saying your on the toilet? 5g is fine for 4K downloads\steaming and large files but who does that on a phone? Video that quality I want on a 60 inch oled tv!

To be honest the same was said about 4g. Don’t forget it’s very much a chicken and egg situation. Most people aren’t downloading 4k films on their phones because they don’t have the necessary speed to do it (comfortably) - especially when they could likely easier do it on their home connection.

However you will see over the coming years people start to ditch their home ISP in favour of 5G - that is of course assuming telcos can keep up with demand to do it.

Faster than already fast internet is great. Still, it’s just an incremental experience improvement. And it has less range.

Remember the old Chris Rock who was all edgy and angry on stage in his black leather jacket? I wish I could go back in time and show him this.

Maybe it will let me surf the net? I’ll be doing exactly the same things as before. It will feel faster. The real revolution is the marketing.

Something about his eyes in the thumbnail... it's like he lost his soul and he knows it. (at least in the context of the ad)

"Wowie such fast speeds! It's so great guys! You didn't know you needed this but YOU DO. Buy it! LOVE IT!! it's the next best thing!! SWALLOW THIS PILL DAMMIT!! and LIKE IT!" ... is all I can see from this ad. Desperation...

they really think they can hype 5G all the way to success. what rubbish. at best, it is an incremental technology improvement that could be a footnote at best. it is not a meaningful feature and only the most vain and informed would choose a phone based on whether or not it is 5G capable.

for my money, not having 5G is a feature I would pay Apple extra for.
Yeah, progress sucks. Let’s just stagnate with technology for the next two decades.

After using disparaging gay slurs in a comedy special a few years ago, humuliating me in front of family members, this clown shouldn’t be paid to endorse anything. Dumb move, Verizon.
I think there’s a backbone sale coming up for Black Friday. You might want to snag yourself one. I think there might also be a deal on thick skin if you purchase them together.

Embarrassing. Wonder why he would do this, I'd assume he's not this desperate to make a buck.

Well for one, you’re from Germany, so maybe you don’t appreciate certain types of satire, and they chose Chris rock based on his lengthy (Mainly successful) comedy career/acting. That has nothing to do with being embarrassing (You chose the wrong word to describe your thoughts it seems). Oh, After being 20 years in the business, I doubt he ‘needs’ to make an extra buck.

Years ago, Apple was using Selena Gomez to advert the iPhone 7, that certainly wouldn’t be construed as embarrassing, given she’s a vocalist.

Apple uses different figures in various industries all the time to promote the iPhone and other products, it’s nothing abnormal and certainly not ‘embarrassing‘.

Wow he's aged.

gracefully. Let’s see you at his age #BlackDontCrack! (Yes I am black)!

This is making me uncomfortable.

do you mean the “It’s Real” or “Finally Real” references dating back to the iPhone with video calling references on the iPhone 4?!

It’s pretty entertaining ad except for the scene with his kids holding a $1k phone almost completely oblivious to anything going on around them.

This is reality ~ where the hell have you been the last 12yrs! You don’t have tweens or haven’t seen any kids where you live since the iPhone 3GS launched?! With every new social media app it’s not just the kids it’s everyone in high percentages being glued to their phones - including corporate users since the BlackBerry 7290!

just now kids don’t need a helmet like our parents did lol.

Not the best iPhone commercial I have seen. Not much substance outside of BAM! 5G just got real.*

*5G not available in most places you frequent, as well as places you want to visit or even have to visit. And when in an area where Verizon 5G is available, you must be standing within 0.005 inches of the repeater, in order for your phone to connect. Connection speeds are not guaranteed. You will be lucky to see any difference at all. However, we are Verizon and we are working hard to make the hype real for the next generation of iPhone users. BAM! Reality just hit you hard in the face. Thanks for spending your hard earned money with us.

Lots of 5G love,
Verizon.

If shilling for Verizon doesn’t embarrass him, being compared to Selena Gomez will...
