I tend to focus on what is shown in the browser, rather than the browser itself. The single most important thing you can do to speed up the loading and display of web pages is to avoid adverts. I got myself a good content blocker (Wipr) for iOS and macOS, and Safari goes like a rocket. Or, rather, the content that it displays goes like a rocket.

A new version of Chrome that speeds up the display of adverts has zero interest from me.
Yes Wipr is great ?. Especially Wipr extra on Youtube as it stops adverts

I thought Safari is the fastest since its "WeBKiT EsPeCiAlLy MaDe To RuN oN ApPle HaRdWaRe + SoFtWaRe CoMbO! "

In reality, is there any real faster browser? I loaded websites on all of them and they all seem to load just fast?! Gecko , Webkit, Blink, whatever else...

When is Safari not able to play 4K YouTube videos?

Apple does not player higher resolution videos on some websites because Apple blocks some codecs I forgot which now, but I think they recently allowed it so now Safari should (I think) play YouTube in 4K.

No Windows devices in my house any more. And before you get cute, using a website developed on a Windows computer does not mean that I use Windows.
Using any product designed by one does, and there is a really import reason why.

But the close tab button and most of the other controls are in the wrong place. Hate it.

I don't use chrome, but I've heard it uses around 250MB per tab.

I've always had a lot of tabs open and since Safari added tab groups I've gone even further - I have hundreds of tabs now and Safari is only using 3.4GB. About what Chrome would allegedly use with just 14 tabs.

I'd probably need a Mac Pro with 512GB of RAM to switch to Chrome - or I'd need to change how I browse (switch to using bookmarks instead of tabs maybe? That sounds like a pain in the ass).
Just for fun. Opened Chrome 99. *one tab*. This is activity monitor:

Or 552MB.

Not exactly lean...

Why? How would that benefit Apple?

If Safari was able to get half decent usage on Windows and Android, it could potentially benefit Apple the same way it currently benefits them having it on iOS/iPadOS and macOS or benefits Mozilla having Firefox on Windows and Android.

I've been using Chrome on all my Macs for a good few years now and haven't noticed any performance issues and no one has stolen my identity, lol.

It's a sin against humanity for Chrome to recommend restaurants based on your common google searches on food or history on Google Maps.

It's also a sin against humanity for Chrome to show advertisements based on your common google searches or websites frequently visited [although, I don't know ... maybe just install uBlock?]

Jokes, I like Safari and Chrome, with some leaning towards Chrome as of late. Safari fails with my school's LMS (not displaying images, which is pretty important when doing a quiz worth %% of your mark). I have to use Chrome for that.
