Why? I mean... If you're going to throw stuff out there, might as well have reasoning/something to back it up. There were just as many mock-ups out last year, tbh.

As for me, I'm quite looking forward to this new phone, and the lines don't particularly bother me. It looks like they blend in pretty well with their surroundings. When the iPhone 5 came out I'm pretty sure people were wary about the look of it if I recall correctly! People preferred the 'classic' look of the 4S.

Surprise is nice, and we know Apple like to surprise us. Steve Jobs one last thing line hinges in large part on the surprise. To surprise us, there has to be some level of secrecy. Companies hire commenters and Facebook users all the time to plant favorable opinions of them. Hence, it is not unthinkable to suggest Apple can/do plant false information to misdirect people. I do not suggest that Jony Ive and the create team are behind this. If Apple is misdirecting, I suspect people like Phil Shiller or Tim Cook to give it the go ahead to a small team of people, who we may never know the existence of.

There were less mockups last year, because most of us suspect at the time that it will just be a slight change from the 5.

At the time of the iPhone 5 rumor and mockups, most people liked it more than the 4 and 4S. Near the end of the 4S first run, most people are fed up with the fragile glass cover of the 4 and 4S. As I remembered, most of us can't wait to get a phone that doesn't crack so easily.

the music in the video makes this legit. I remember i saw a video last year with the same music and the leak turned out to be true, so i'm going by that.

lol.

Those. Thick. Bands.

Such a shame — the iPod Touch looks way better than this.
Well, for once, a nice cover might actually improve the look.

Don't worry everyone. Apples iPhone will look great. Year after year, these cheesy Mockups always make the iPhone look like stink.

Apple will make a great looking iPhone 6.

----------

could it be that there's a light up logo? :apple:

That would be cool.

I fail to see how two huge glass slabs on the 5/5S are sooooo much better than this new antenna system. It's much less noticeable and better IMO.

Whatever, by the time it comes out everyone will be used to it and proclaim in beautiful like the iPhone 5.

----------

I'll pick whichever one with least obvious of that shameful thick lines ...

Again, how are these "thick lines" worse looking than a huge glass plate? It's FAR less noticeable and stark.

The touch has an oval for a sensor that's not even symmetrical. How could that possibly look better?

end of love affair

This design really spells the end of my love affair with the iPhone. It just looks tacky. I can't imagine carrying that!
Steve Jobs will be rolling in his grave...
It us just astonishing how bad the design is. I had to join this forum just to post my view I am so shocked by it.
Of course function is important but on the basis of design HTC and Samsung - never mind Nokia have come up with stylish designs for their latest phones but the iPhone 6 just looks revolting. I would be ashamed to be seen holding THAT!
And I'm not trolling...been loyal to iPhones since 3 queuing up in the rain for the new phones but not this time.....

I think the problem with this design, if it really is the iPhone 6, which is looking more and more likely - is that the breaks are so thick. You don't need a them to be that thick to decouple the antenna from the body. If they were thin they wouldn't look so hideous.

You don't think they would make them as thin as possible if they could? Yep, you know more than Apple's engineers.

You cannot be serious if you just implied plastic samsung has better design than apple.

----------

All of the iPhone 6 Mockup/Leaks/Etc that have been posted here show the flash on the back as NOT being the True Tone flash, but the older circular single LED flash. Why would Apple put the older flash in the newer body?!?!? Has anyone else noticed this??? That's why I have to claim FALSE on this "leaked" back videos/photos.

They've managed to fit a double flash in the older round hole instead of the uglier pill shaped one.

Yes..the latest models looks a better design - plastic or no plastic. A design is more than a material. !

Did anyone think that the iPhone 5 with it's antenna cut-outs looked better than iPhone 4/4s before it actually came out? No.

Does anyone complain about the cut-outs anymore? No.

Why? The real thing always looks better than the leaks and the oddness of the new turns to plain and familiar lightning fast. And desirable too, once all your buddies have the newer model and you're still using that two year old historical relic from the angular period...

Finally someone with logic. It's like people don't know how detested the 5 was up until launch.

I love these "I hate the band on the back" threads. Seriously? Who cares about the back :)

Just want a bigger, thinner phone with cool features. Buy, buy, buy!

That’s like saying who cares what the outside of a car looks like after all you very probably spend more time looking at the inside and look at what freedom it gives you. Buy, buy, buy!

----------

I have always wondered about the lines.
If you look at the leaked schematics, you' ll notice that the materials from the seams are the same as the frontside of the phone.

Look at this, this looks beautiful and they have a point.

Certainly wouldn't describe a phone as beautiful but that is far more coherent and I’d buy. Based on the other mockups I’d stick with a 5S.

I've said it in other threads, and I'll say it in this thread.

For those complaining about the ugly bands around the back, and saying they're only mockups, expecting the phone to look drastically different...

I hate to break it to you, but this is 99% what the phone will look like. Including those ugly bands :(

We've had numerous leaked parts now that have all been exactly the same, showing those bands.

I believe that middle one is also a mockup. If you look at either top or bottom rear, where the main body of ally finishes up the top, it is 1/2 way around the side curve, then where the top ally section starts after the antenna gap, it start on the flat back, not 1/2 around the edge, so the edge of ally running up the length of the body is not in line with the edge of ally of the top section. I find it hard to believe Ives would design such a mis-match of lines. Really hard to believe.
But many-a Apple product when released even if looking very much like their rumoured much up, look so much better.
Either way, I am 100% confident the design will look great. From my perspective and only my perspective, Apple have never in recent years designed an odd looking product. Always every detail is precise and pleasing to the eye.

Having said all that, nearly every year, as it gets closer to release date, and rumored images become more and more common, they turn out to be THE product.

What exactly is the point of posting this comment on nearly every thread?

Well, it reminds us of this statement that Tim Cook once made, and how it seems kind of funny/ironic to read it now that Apple hardware leaks have become so frequent and routine that it seems like there are hardly any secrets anymore.

I don't think Tim was being insincere, but he perhaps did not have a real understanding of how difficult it would be to stop leaks - given the size and extent of Apple's global supply chain - when he made that statement.

I personally find it quite amusing and I should like it to continue to be posted every time there are significant new leaks of upcoming Apple products.

Too much top and bottom bezel as well. The iPhone doesn't need symmetrical top and bottom bezels.

when you start flipping the phone more often to use landscape yes you do. I see using landscape more with a larger phone don't you? With the current phone i rarely ever use landscape its too cluttered.

As someone who has owned phones with big (iPhone) and small (Moto X) bezels, I can say without hesitation that small bezels are much more practical. Better thumb reach and smaller form factor in a pocket are much more important to me. When I do hold it in landscape mode, my thumbs naturally lay on the rounded edges anyway - no part of the screen is covered. That's actually a complaint I have with my iPad... my thumbs naturally lay on the sharp metal edges, so it gets uncomfortable after a while.

so you're saying you wouldn't mind unsymmetrical bezels? for typing how do you think that would play out one side being further in than another...

My moto droid maxx with a 5" screen has a smaller top bezel then bottom bezel and its great!

It is amazing to me how different people have different opinions. Personally I think the mockups look great and really hope the final products looks just like the mockups. I'm not sure what looks tacky about it. I love the thinner size and rounded corners.
