This would be beyond stupid.
Sorry, but they last for me. I’ve had iPhones since 2007 and my wife has had them since 2012, And we’ve had iPads since 2011, and in all that time, the only accessory that’s ever gone bad is one frayed charging cable, which was many years old by that time. That's great - nickel and dime you for a $1000 phone.
And before fanboys complain about this being an eco-friendly move: Why don't they first design cables and headphones that last longer than a couple of months (and don't say they last for me - search it, it is a well known problem that both the earpods as well as charging cables keep breaking)
Probably -- but not just in terms of the power adapters; also in terms of shipping. I would estimate that they could handily get the box down to about half the size of older iPhone boxes containing power adapters and earbuds, which doubles the number of iPhones that will fit in a shipping container. It seems to me, that factor alone could easily be their entire reason for doing this.... this is going to probably save Apple a ton of money.
I’ve literally never had an Apple charger or headphones break. In fact, mine still works from my original iPhone and the iPhone works too.
Apple knows how long they last far better than either of our anecdotal stories and if they indeed don’t include, Apple is confident in their analysis of data we don’t have. Remember, the strategy always confirms the truth...just like getting rid of headphone jack. No one cared, despite the outcry.
This move makes a ton of sense as the iPhone and power bricks become more common. I don’t need one.
We finally got decent chargers for the first time with last years iphone 11 Pro's and now they decide to cut it off.Ever since the bigger iPhones with bigger batteries shipped with the little (barely sufficient) 5 watt charger, people and vloggers have been whining "no fast charger included?".
Well it looks like Apple listened and said EF You to us all and now will ship with NO CHARGER.
Be careful what you complain about. Future iPhones might not come with the OS installed or a power cord included.
Pretty much how I use my iPhone now. AirPods for music, wireless charger. Charger and cable still in box the phone came with. The EU has made a big push to stop manufacturers from including g chargers in the box. They want people to reuse the chargers they have. Apple has been in a fight with the EU over the Lightning port. The EU wants them to drop it in favore of “standard” USB. Of course, with USB changing so much and so fast, the question is which USB? It has been micro USB for years, but now, more likely USB C. But rumors are saying that in 2021 possibly, Apple will have no port, and the hat everything will be wireless. How that would work, I have no idea.
And that smart connector will probably connect to something that will have a charging port (among other features). That's the rumor, portless with a smart connector.

It is an ecological move and they do last for me. I am not going read something on the internet to believe things. Why should I when me and many of my family/friends have been using iPhones for over 6 years. I can speak based on personal experience of me and everyone around me.That's great - nickel and dime you for a $1000 phone.

They already sell a charger for $29. 18W USB-C chargerI wouldn’t put it past them. Phil will tout the environmental benefits of slimmer packaging and then say for only $20 you can get this great USB-C fast charger.
lowering the price of the phone is the only scenario where this is not completely outrageous
Current 5W chargers do not support fast charge and take hours to fully charge a phone.Great news. Chargers last indefinitely, no need to bundle them with every phone, and practically nobody uses the bundled earphones. This will prevent hundreds of tons of paper, plastic and e-waste every year, not to mention CO2 saved from shipping these boxes that are half the volume.

When did vehicles start including USB-C ports?
Isn't fast charging bad for battery longevity though?Current 5W chargers do not support fast charge and take hours to fully charge a phone.
