If these are the new boxes, I must say I quite like them.

Very cool art design with the fish

Here's hoping the space grey phone has a new darker finish!

The 5c only comes in 8GB!

Is it really so surprising from the people who've told us for the last 5 years that 8MP is plenty for a phone camera? 5 years in technology terms is worse than laughable, it's embarrassing. And Schiller will be up there telling us what a BEAUTIFUL camera it is… again.

Wait until we see how much RAM there is in the new phones, then we'll really have something to complain about. Apple has been abusing customers' trust in quality ever since the LC monitor debacle in the 90s.

Can you imagine an iPhone 6/6+ with 8GB of storage? I'm not even sure it's possible for iOS to run on one of those with that little amount of storage, let alone load any apps or media content. There will be a big SMH moment if Apple announces an 8GB 5S device on the low end (*free-w/-contract).

Apple is pushing for lower storage for 2 main reasons:
(1) To push sales of iCloud services
(2) To push customers towards the mid and high tier devices with more storage

Apple wants people to upgrade in one way or the other, so they make the low-end only attractive to the lowest common denominator. They make more money from those that choose to upgrade, so why make the low-end more attractive?

I have been saying that the low-end should be 32GB since the 5S and felt really frustrated when the iPhone 6 was announced with 16GB starting. It's sounding more and more like another year of disappointing news on this front.

Apple really should bump up RAM to at least 2GB in phones, but I doubt they will for this one reason... The iPad Air 2. This is because it is the first device to support split-screen; running two apps at once. And the iPad Air 2 is limited to 2GB; meaning each app cannot exceed 1GB of RAM. So, why would Apple add another 1GB of RAM to a phone if no apps will take advantage of it? There's the super-slim chance that an updated multitasking system will keep the latest 2 apps in memory on the phone so that apps don't have to reload unless a 3rd app is brought into memory and pushes one out. However, it's likely not there since nobody has noticed in the beta builds and it hasn't been rumored. Based on this, I will say we're in for a disappointing announcement when it comes to phone RAM.

I do expect the camera to get a bump and the rumors have been pointing towards that also. Although Apple hasn't improved the max-resolution of the sensors since iPhone 4S, they have made lots of improvements that have kept iPhone photos competing with higher resolution sensors from Android competitors. The iPhone cameras have always impressed me and I hope they do give it a resolution-bump along with a other typical updates. Something around 12MP would be nice.

Look more carefully. The box appears to show a Rose Gold version.

Looks like the regular gold from where I'm sitting. Aren't the Apple logos on each side usually the same colour as the phone inside? Those logos are clearly just champagne gold.

It's difficult to tell because Apple always make the SG renders darker than it really is.

The phone itself seems to be on the pink side, but it's really difficult to tell.

This mean we will have animated wallpapers? Who is in beta iOS9 are there any animated wallpaper?

So this will be the first time since the 4S that they don't update the design, in fact the first time that they adopt the same design cues for 3 consecutive years, although one of the excuse for the crazy overprice is design?

Or put simply: we have to stick with the ugly space light gray, white grey and the yellow metal colours AND the ugly white bands and still pay the same crazy overprice but for **** design?

This makes no sense. The iPhone 5/5s back looks nothing like the iPhone 6/6s back, not to mention square vs. rounded corners.

I'm sure the motion wallpapers will be beautiful and I will like them, but on the outside of the box it looks too effeminate.

There's no good reason to narrow down the audience appeal in this manner.

It's not like a mere photo would dissuade prospective buyers and you're stuck with that wallpaper. After all, that's what the Apple bag is for.

I see this every year with S models. "Owners of the non-S phone won't have a reason to upgrade" ... That doesn't matter. The hard-core fans will anyway. The people on two-year contracts (who couldn't upgrade to the iPhone 6 but wanted to) will upgrade. It's not like 90% of iPhone owners are on the iPhone 6.

Yeah, I think only about 25-30% of iPhone users have upgraded to the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

So from the box it looks as though the front facing camera will still be uncentered, although not a huge problem I guess. I'm more disappointed that it's all but confirmed the rear facing camera will still be protruding :(.

The packaging suggests no AMOLED display like the Apple Watch.

...Lame...

I'm a fan of OLED displays but given than iOS seems to stick with the predominantly white colour scheme, it makes more sense for the screen to be LCD.

Now a higher resolution on the new phones is more plausible

It just sucks that they'll likely be keeping the 16gb version. The new motion wallpapers will be nice but I have a feeling a lot of people won't feel much incentive to upgrade, especially if you already have a 6.

Why does it suck? You have a choice. Open your wallet like everyone else and get one with more memory. If your wallet can't support the extra $100 over a two year period, get a better job. Or buy something else, like an HTC or something.

Sad to see a tech gadget cause so much angst.

Another one, SG this time:

iPhone-6s-box.jpg

Is it just the quality of the photo or does the Space Grey look darker this time around? I was thinking how weird it is that we have products colored Space Grey and they're different colors ie iPhone, Apple Watch Sport

In the absence of AMOLED, a bump in res would be greatly appreciated.

The iphone 6 display is blah by today's standards.
