Is it just the quality of the photo or does the Space Grey look darker this time around? I was thinking how weird it is that we have products colored Space Grey and they're different colors ie iPhone, Apple Watch Sport
Definitely looks a little darker - more in line with the Apple Watch Space Gray.

It's quite possible that it's darker like on the SG Watch Sport. However, Apple has a bad habit of making the renders darker than they actually are so you never know.

No doubt the new iPhone 6 S Plus / iPhone 6 Plus S will have force touch, but I hate gesture based input and prefer direct input and class it as a gimmick. Will also have the A9 CPU and M9 Motion Co-processor, however I already have the iPhone 6 plus and will probably skip this re-iteration as I don't want just an upgrade. Yes I would prefer sapphire crystal display and OLED panel as LCD is old tech now. OLED also does not require a backlight, which means it would be even better for battery consumption.

Koi pond. Great, lets keep trying to appeal to china. Angela Ahrendts needs to work for Honda or Toyota.

I'm going to rollover laughing when they announce this phone as the :apple:Phone instead of 6S.... but really that will more likely happen with the iPhone 7 than this year, but it looks like it may be the right time to change it up. The :apple:Watch being an example and a test-bed for this branding.

:apple:Phone is not an iPhone, if it's not an iPhone, it's not an iPhone

I don't understand, I thought the lifeless blank on iPhone 6/6 Plus were to save on ink/recycle process or something..
And now they're doing this?
..
So did Apple just ran out of ink last year? o_O

the space grey iPhone box art image is hosted in full size on 9to5 mac, and at least to my eyes it does appear to be the same shade as it is currently on the iPhone 6 - which is a shame. I know we'll see tomorrow, but in line with the current conversation regarding hopes for a darker shade (a la iPod touch), it doesn't appear to be that dark to me.

Can you imagine an iPhone 6/6+ with 8GB of storage? I'm not even sure it's possible for iOS to run on one of those with that little amount of storage, let alone load any apps or media content. There will be a big SMH moment if Apple announces an 8GB 5S device on the low end (*free-w/-contract).

Apple is pushing for lower storage for 2 main reasons:
(1) To push sales of iCloud services
(2) To push customers towards the mid and high tier devices with more storage

Apple wants people to upgrade in one way or the other, so they make the low-end only attractive to the lowest common denominator. They make more money from those that choose to upgrade, so why make the low-end more attractive?

I have been saying that the low-end should be 32GB since the 5S and felt really frustrated when the iPhone 6 was announced with 16GB starting. It's sounding more and more like another year of disappointing news on this front.

Apple really should bump up RAM to at least 2GB in phones, but I doubt they will for this one reason... The iPad Air 2. This is because it is the first device to support split-screen; running two apps at once. And the iPad Air 2 is limited to 2GB; meaning each app cannot exceed 1GB of RAM. So, why would Apple add another 1GB of RAM to a phone if no apps will take advantage of it? There's the super-slim chance that an updated multitasking system will keep the latest 2 apps in memory on the phone so that apps don't have to reload unless a 3rd app is brought into memory and pushes one out. However, it's likely not there since nobody has noticed in the beta builds and it hasn't been rumored. Based on this, I will say we're in for a disappointing announcement when it comes to phone RAM.

I do expect the camera to get a bump and the rumors have been pointing towards that also. Although Apple hasn't improved the max-resolution of the sensors since iPhone 4S, they have made lots of improvements that have kept iPhone photos competing with higher resolution sensors from Android competitors. The iPhone cameras have always impressed me and I hope they do give it a resolution-bump along with a other typical updates. Something around 12MP would be nice.

We'll see tomorrow when the iPhone 6s+ is announced with 2gb of RAM. Remember this

A new image of the packaging for the "iPhone 6s" has turned up online (via MacX), appearing similar to images of a box for the "iPhone 6s Plus" that were shared in late August. Both boxes showcase a koi pond-like fish against a white surface, suggesting the rumored packaging could be what Apple will use to box the next-generation iPhones, which are expected to be the centerpiece of the company's September 9 event tomorrow.

The fish image has also begun rumors surrounding the "iPhone 6s" and "iPhone 6s Plus," suggesting the new smartphones will include a motion wallpaper feature. Similar in spirit to the dynamic wallpapers Apple introduced in iOS 7, the supposed update would bring something more akin to the in-depth motion backgrounds of the Apple Watch and will feature images from fish in a koi pond to different color smoke clouds.

I used to be very excited about these events and articles like this. I am still looking forward to them - but it is just no longer the same, somehow less exciting ... maybe I'm getting too old or I am just too happy with what I have ... but I guess part of it is that rumors in recent years were way too accurate and took the surprise out of those events.

I feel the same way. Since Steve Jobs, I've not been excited about one of these, and even his last, with iCloud... I wasn't excited. What would get me excited is Apple in the TV (cable) space. An Apple TV that is not a hobby really excites me. I'm all set with phones.

How come these motion wallpapers are only on the iPhone 6s and not the original 6?
Battery life. I am going to assume that the new A9 processor will be very power efficient and will be able to handle high-def retina display images without taking a tole on battery life.

Possibly as a demo for a better display (higher resolution/ppi)? Imagine this scene at the Apple store with the iPhone 6 and identical 6S next to it or nearby. A potential customer wonders if he/she should save $100 by getting an iPhone 6. The customer says to the Apple salesperson what's the difference. The salesperson says the 6S is faster. No response from the customer. The salesperson says both cameras are much better. Meh from the customer. The salesperson shows a demo of the animated fish on the improved display. Customer goes WOW, buys the 6S.

We'll find out tomorrow the technical reason why the new motion wallpapers are exclusive to the 6S.

I think the fish means it'll be waterproof. Notice that the version of the Apple logo that is being set up around the site is also suggestive of water, or something falling into water.

Graphically these box images look nasty. The phone being a white screen just looks odd, a black phone or black box would have made it look much better or merely images the weren't entirely inside the screen and instead was cut by the screen edges, the floating image in the middle is just horrid. I'm sure the phone etc will be great but this is not the nicest looking box graphics.
