But then what do you call the next one? The "new new iPhone"? And then in 5 years, i'd order a "new new new new new new iPhone"?

Seriously, how can it be new when the new generation comes? It's very logical thing! New generation is the latest. Past that are the old ones. When there is a new product, the previously "new" one automaticly becomes old. Why is so hard to see it?

I've trimmed down a standard sim to fit in the 4S (company provided sim) - will i be able to trim this micro sim down further to a nano sim???
The only problem I see if the iPhone 5 is LTE you need a LTE nano SIM.

If you have a 3G micro SIM and want to cut it down to a nano SIM the SIM would still be 3G. You would have to trim down a LTE micro SIM to LTE nano SIM size.

The only people that need to worry about this are people who only buy unlocked. If you buy one sold for your carrier, it will come with a 4G nano SIM pre-installed.

We are going by the same reasoning that Apple did on the iPad. Next Year, it might as well be called something else, that's Apple's Marketing team's problem to figure out what it will be name, remember part of the marketing's job is to make people such as on this site to have some sort of discussion about it. If the iPad was called The new iPad, the upcoming phone will most likely be called The new iPhone.

Maybe 2 years from now it will be called The new iPhone 2. Lol it has a nice ring to it... but that will still be the 7th Generation iPhone! :D

First, I'd like to propose an Insta-ban© for anyone discussing/arguing iPhone model/version numbering schemes. :)

Definitely like pointed out, this tray seems to be a matching color for the new dark outer bands of the next iPhone ... at least if these are all fakes, they're all being well coordinated :D

I dig it. It looks like the bands are anodized, kind of like a "black chrome" (I had some wheels finished like this).

I can't even remember, and both our iPhones are in cases I'd prefer not to remove, but is the 4/4S sim tray plastic? i.e., the outer portion that's exposed.

EyePhone-Install.jpg

It's going to be called the "eye-Phone!"

And 3 comes after 1, right?

No, but 3G did come after 2G, which was the nickname given to the original iPhone running on the EDGE network.

People who use this analogy are foolish. And anyone who thinks they know what the nomenclature will be on the next iPhone is just as foolish.

Apple is showing that they will not have a sequential numbering to their products. Even the iPod Touch doesn't have a number sequence, and still people call it by its Generation. Its a way to differentiate from each other.

So the 4S was...? All these silly articles, they don't realise they already have the iPhone 5! Fools...

The 4S is the 5th Generation iPhone. Not the "iPhone 5." The 6th Generation iPhone could be called iPhone 5, however, I do not believe it will. It will probably be called iPhone.
Kind of like the iPod touch or Nano. Which did not have numbers following.

I didn't realize the band has that grey/blue tint. I thought it was lighting in the picture or a tint due to being a prototype. Yes I know I've seen it many times. No need to be so condescending.

I apologize. It's just frustrating seeing all these people not believing that's what the phone is gonna look like and expecting some "radical" new design"

I know, I expect they'll drop the number, if they don't it will be iPhone 5. Sales logic > Nerd logic.

Can we assume the color is explained by the fact this is a prototype piece, or does it say something about the new iPhone? Or is that tray not visible from the outside of the phone?

If they have any sense they will have a plastic edging on it again, like the 3G/3G instead of a silly glass back.

Funny, I've never heard anyone say 'I've ordered the new new new Macbook Air.

It will (And should) just be called 'iPhone' with a 'new' slapped on it, the same way any new product would have.
