I just noticed this as well about an hour ago. I was holding it some weird way and I noticed it popping or clicking.

soo has anybody else noticed this? Grab the top of the phone with one hand and the bottom of it with the other and gently twist in opposite directions. for me, i hear a click coming from the left middle screen area. This worries me because im not sure if it compromises the water-resistance at all.

*side note* when i got the iPhone 5 on release day back in 2012, the top right of the screen wasn't sealed properly and i remember alot of people also had this issue. Apple replaced the first one but the problem was also on the replacement. the second replacement phone was fine

it is not dumb to twist the phone!

I payed 1009 € for this phone. The iPhone 6S Plus - does not - creak at all. my iphone 6s neither.

It does not ONLY creak when its twisted! It is - also - creaking if you just use force touch on the display. Twisting the phone just prooves that the problem exists.

MAYBE its legit not to call this an apparent defect, and I say that as a lawyer, but for me it is not acceptable for a phone in this price range. It depends on how meticulous the judge would be in a real lawsuit

I just noticed that with my 7 (not +), too! I went back and tried with my 6s, and heard no noise at all- the 6s seems to be a much more solid/sturdy feeling than the 7.

Hissing noise = electrical design issue, clicking noise = mechanicsl design issue

I noticed this clicking phenomenon before I saw this thread. For me it happens when I press on the top left and the bottom right at the same time, while the rest of my fingers are supporting the back of the phone. These were very light presses when I was picking the phone up, so it's not like people are going all Hulk-rage to make it happen.

The sound seems to centralized in the two other corners not being pressed, so I have to think that it is being caused by the newly designed antenna bands. Not sure why everyone is so offended by this observation, but to each their own...

So go ahead and take it to court, Mr. Lawyer. We can't do anything for you here.

what is your problem? i will not take it to court because I can give the phone back without a problem. all i was saying that it depends on the person if it is a defect or not.

I dont understand why you feel offended.

And yes I work as a lawyer in Germany. I think I know how courtsystem works here,

Not offended at all. I just disagree with your point that it is "not dumb to twist the phone." It is very dumb to twist the phone. Now since you said that it creaks while using the force touch, then that's a valid point, but to twist the phone just go twist it is in fact very dumb.

Yes it is dumb to twist your phone, do you trust your MacBook or flatscreen TV? I bet those "crack" if you do that. I say this as a non lawyer, is still dumb...

no i don't do that with my imac because it is not made to be touched.

First I noticed the creaking when I applied a screen protector, then I noticed it while using forcetouch. - Only - because of that I tried to repuduce the creaking and noticed that it comes from the screen while twisting it. Does the 6s plus creak while using force touch? no! Does it creak while twisting: no. So to - test - fast if the phone has this "defect" you can twist the phone... thats all.

If you can test your iMac CPU while twisting the screen I would twist it yes... but you can not test it this way, you have to run a special cpu benchmark or something else. So everyone using RAM tests, CPU tests or even benchmarks are idiots?

It's not just when "twisting" the screen, that's a bad way to describe it. When using 3D Touch in any way or pushing in the middle area of the display under COMPLETELY normal use it will exhibit this annoying "pop" or creak sound. It sounds super cheap and I plan on either returning my 7 Plus before my period ends and waiting until the quality is better or exchanging it through AppleCare as soon as replacements available. It's unacceptable and worst of all is intermittent, almost like the screen will become more attached when cooler and after some use becomes loose and creaky again. Yuck.

Mine definately makes a snapping sounnd when a very slight amount of twisting is applied. It is very easy to do it if you are holding the phone by the bottom in one hand, and 3d touch pressing on the top right of the screen with the other.

How loud is the sound? Is it loud enough to be audible in a reasonably noisy room? Is every 7+ affected or do some people not seem to have the issue? It's amazing how bad these early 7+ units seem to be. Makes me kind of glad I didn't pre-order

I've noticed this every time I take my phone out of my pocket, I always grab the corner and spin it out of my pocket and I can feel the twist sound.

Also, taking it out of the Apple Silicon reproduces it.

I can reproduce it sometimes while using force touch to multitask, but not always.

To me, it's not worth getting it checked out yet.

Does anyone NOT have this issue? I see some votes here for "no", but no comments on the thread to that effect.

I didn't see any iphone 7 plus without this issue. Thats why I gave mine back and I'm keeping my 6s.

For me personally it's a no go because the phone felt even cheaper than my one plus x or any other smartphone I held in my hand.
