I see this article as the Apple Watch 2 is not to far out from debuting for those who are interested. With all these major designers releasing/Manufacturing Watch Bands, they are most likely hoping to gain popularity when the Watch 2 is released, if someone of course is willing to spend the money on a Hermes or Coach band.

I also believe Coach is certainly targeting the female consumer and provide them with the option to match with their Coach purse or handbag.

I expect Watch 2 rumors to start trending as we near the Developer's conference.

Although none of these bands will appeal to 99.9% of the users here on MacRumors, they will appeal to a lot of middle-aged to older women. My mom has an Apple Watch and ever since she has had it she's been searching for a band that has a little more sparkle to it than the ones currently available. If they are priced correctly, I could see them being popular among this demographic. Just because it's not for you, doesn't mean it's not for others.

It is, in my opinion, a sign that the Apple Watch is still popular. I think once the second generation is introduced, we will see more companies like this jumping on board.
Yep, I'm in that demographic and Coach crap is popular among my friends and I have two purses from them that I like a lot. But I can't say I find these particular bands appealing, at least not in those bad photos. I will need to see them in person.

This is why Apple needs to control the bands with DRM or something so that low-rent brands like Coach don't cheapen the image of Apple Watch

Flip, stick those on a new revision then you have my attention.

I like to play a little game on MacRumors. I see a post and try to guess how long it will take to come across a snarky/negative response. For the most part, I don't wait too long.

It's true. But you could play that game on every forum on the webs I think.

Even further evidence the overall design will not be tweaked on 2.0. Honestly, this is getting the cart [band] in front of the horse [watch]. Stop all this incremental tweaking and sell something that's not half baked. It's just irritating. Are bands and finishes supposed to make me think it's been upgraded?

Not holding out too much hope Apple's thinking on their watch will ever be in step with what I'm looking for. They are always so committed to their preferential vision that it takes too long for them to react to market feedback. Yet another Achilles heel associated with their grand success. At this rate It's gonna be like 4-5 years before I'm tempted to buy one of these and then only if it's actually compelling.

Steve must be so proud of the Watch Bands legacy he's left behind.
He's dead, Jim.

A century old watch is better for telling time. The friends I have with an Apple watch have repeatedly had to bring their arms up to even get it to display.

Indeed, I hope so too. I'm always interested in new gadgets that make my life easier but the Apple Watch so far is a fail.
Funny, I can't seem to get the news, weather alerts or sports scores on my Omega Seamaster. I must be doing something wrong.

Yes, of course, because all it needed was overpriced designer bands.

Yes, you're not looking at the phone that your watch is tethered to.

No. The bands and finishes are to supplement the Watch and meet various/different likes for every Watch owner. The Watch has only been released for one year and Manufacterers are slowly contributing to the growth of the Watch (i.e. Hermes, Coach, Third Party).

Market feedback? Version 2 is set to be released with in six months, possibly adding an improved processor, additional health sensors, extended battery life and possibly GPS/LTE. How is that to long to react to what a consumer wants in a Watch? Version 1 just hit its one year Mark and Version 2 is almost here. I think your expectations seem high for a Gen 1 product. And 4-5 years from now, I'm confident I will purchase the Watch, being technology and health performance will be on a whole new level.

Never hear of them. Seems like new bands is going to be their business model from now on.

Apple really needs to stop with this crap and release the new and improved Apple Watch 2. No wonder their taking a crap in the market.
So it's Apple's fault now that a 3rd party manufacturer is making an accessory you don't like and pricing it at a price you won't pay?

Except it's not his legacy. At least as the story goes now it's all TC and Ives. Based on the products Jobs did nurture to market & a synthesis of the various bios about him, including his own, I don't get that he would have let the current AW out the door as-is. That said SJ did try to make iPod socks a thing.

Frankly, I'm not even sure TC was ready except he was under pressure for Apple to 1) push out a Fitbit competitor & 2) an all-new Apple product. AW 1.0 is more beta-ware than not, but at least 3rd party data shows decent sales, certainly enough to warrant a brand like Coach to tag along. AW 2.0 will need to be vastly improved though or it will end up as TC's folly.

I don't get the designer handbag thing and why women are willing to pay $1000+ for a pocketbook.

Do you not have a gf or wife? 1) Most women are not willing & don't pay that much for a bag - maybe $200-300. 2) As a guy I can be honest and agree w/ gfs who think I'm nuts spending $$$ on electronic "toys," or cars that are a bit extravagant to just get me from point A to point B, and yes, I too like a nice Super 120s designer suit or sport jacket -- not exactly Jos A. Banks priced.

So, it's just Mars vs. Venus. We all have our foibles that no one else understands but makes us happy just the same.

It's a fantastic business.
You can sell small leather stripes with 2000% margin.
Try buying a t-Shirt then, 400-800% margin is low-normal. Don't get me started about bottled water, Now there's a stupid product for ya.

First, leather is just an awful product full stop.

Second why is Apple partnering with all these third party brands making bands? This is just total crapola. It's like buying a beautiful new car and replacing the wheels with the most ugly wheels that can be found from a car parts yard.

Is it due to low watch sales that Apple has resorted to partnering with such terrible designs to try boost sales? Does Apple not trust in its own product enough? The original iPod wasn't a super success at day one, it took a few years for the product to take hold. Is Apple so impatient it can't wait and is resorting to this nonsense?

KEEP IT SIMPLE.

It hasn't been confirmed Apple are partnering with Coach. The only company they have partnered with so far is Hermès.

It is not clear if Coach is teaming up with Apple or releasing the bands independently. Apple has partnered with Hermès to launch a line of Apple Watch models with Hermès bands and a unique watch face, but Coach may be working independently.

Im shocked with it being Coach they will only be $150, keeping it in line with the Apple Leather bands is smart. The Hermes bands are absurd!!
Hermes is a few steps above Coach in the premium segment so it makes sense.

Don't get all the hate for band news, but as a Watch owner I'm actually interested in these stories.
