Can we just kill this AW already?
First, leather is just an awful product full stop.
Second why is Apple partnering with all these third party brands making bands? This is just total crapola. It's like buying a beautiful new car and replacing the wheels with the most ugly wheels that can be found from a car parts yard.
Is it due to low watch sales that Apple has resorted to partnering with such terrible designs to try boost sales? Does Apple not trust in its own product enough? The original iPod wasn't a super success at day one, it took a few years for the product to take hold. Is Apple so impatient it can't wait and is resorting to this nonsense?
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
Leather: unethical, not environmental. Is the Troll Police available?

First, I think I have read your previous posts as to why you won't support leather, which I won't divulge into. Negated.
Second, Apple has NOT partnered with anyone, with the exception of Hermes. Do you have any idea how many third party Watch bands on are on the market. Try Hundreds for starters. Did Apple pair with them too? No. That's like saying, "I can't believe I put aftermarket floor mats in my Impala SS versus keeping the factory mats, even though my third party mats are way more premium than my factory floor mats." Users have options.
Leather unethical? What about meat, vegetables, eggs, electricity, oil, cars and my favorite number one hazard; kids?Leather: unethical, not environmental.
Tart up Samsung Gear, keep Apple Watch pure.
Yes, leather is unethical. No one needs leather to survive. Apple needs to choose materials that aren't derived from the skins of animals, materials that can be recycled and are produced with little energy as possible.Leather unethical? I'm an advocate of ethics and waste prevention, but we're inside the system, not above it.
This is why Apple needs to control the bands with DRM or something so that low-rent brands like Coach don't cheapen the image of Apple Watch
No one needs a lot of stuff to survive. I'm very glad that's not a requirement at all, or we'd be in trouble.Yes, leather is unethical. No one needs leather to survive. Leather is energy and environmentally wasteful. Maybe that smell is the chemical, or tanning process? It's off the back of a living animal though! I just can not do that. But I won't preach further. No one needs a lot of stuff to survive. I'm very glad that's not a requirement at all, or we'd be in trouble.
I like leather. It's durable, has good properties, looks nice and I like the smell. I know the values of the company that makes the apple bands and that's why I bought that one.
Leather is very recyclable and the production isn't very energy-wasting.
I would never make you do that, by the way. If you can't, you shouldn't. I always like to discuss but convincing is a different beast. I don't see the need.I just can not do that. But I won't preach further.![]()
It's just you.Is it just me, or do they look like crap?
Yeah man, Apple hates the environment! It's not like Apple cares about ethics or the environment, it's called marketing.

It's not an iWatch, peasant.
A few other designers, including Rebecca Minkoff and Colette have released Apple Watch bands without Apple's assistance, Minkoff in partnership with Case-Mate and Colette in partnership with Casetify.
Made this for my wife shortly after the Apple watch came out

Barely cost anything actually... I just bought a nice new Coach watch, removed the band, and replaced it with a nice black leather band I bought for very cheap, and resold it on ebay for almost what I paid for it. (I did mention that the band was replaced though)
Got a cheap black adapter on Amazon and she was happy as could be.
All their products are highly overpriced.
But every time I see this thread title I wonder which coach is designing bands and hope it's Sean Payton. Then I realize it's not the title but the brand.
It's not "Apple Watch bands" (plural). It's "Apple Watch band accessories". Did no one read the other story today saying we shouldn't pluralize Apple names?![]()

It's a good thing it's not designed by Sean. Whatcha gonna do when your band gets suspended for a year ?
