Is it important that the Apple Watch recognises you? I personally dont care what watch face is on my watch, because i customize it how i want. So i’m curious to see why someone else might consider a default watch face as an important addition to gender identification/recognition/acceptance.:)

To better understand, is a rainbow coloured Microwave better than a white one?

If microwaves were wearable accessories, then yes. Do you wear flannel? Denim? Cotton? OH MY GOD WHY WOULD YOU WEAR THAT? WHY IS IT SO NECESSARY? Because people like it. Is that such a big frickin' deal? Jesus Christ on a stick.

That’s great and I respect that. However I believe you focused on the wrong aspect of my post and missed the point entirely. Or chose to ignore it.

He didn't miss anything. You made a completely stupid post and he pointed out why it was stupid. Your post was not complex.

Course you can. One incident doesn't change that fact.

"One incident". I can't even with you people.

I'd love it if they had all kinds of flag variants. But honestly why don't they allow 3rd party watch faces yet?

Honestly I tend to believe that mostly Jony Ive is the blocking point here. I get the impression that individual 3rd party watch faces destroy his industrial design philosophy as he still considers the Apple Watch to be more a kind of fashion accessory.

I guess this watch face will get very limited traction. People who aren't homosexual won't probably wear it not to be misidentified as homosexual. People who are homosexual will probably wear it for some time, granted they like it.

Now here's the idea - how about making some universally fun and beautiful watch faces that would be useful to everyone? Or even better, third party watch face support so we can have unlimited watch faces for any occasion?

I'm from eastern Europe and nor me or my friends are homophobic. Maybe in the west you guys have some real issues with sex prefrence acceptance but to the outside world it looks funny or even childish (we watch and read mostly western media which in no way match our social issues).

It'd be great if humanity finally stopped to care who's having what inside his panties and what organ doesn he/she prefer to fondle with.

Love it!!! Looks amazing with my Pride band.

Hehe...I see what they did there...

Doesn’t bother me that it’s a pride watch face. What bothers me is that there are so few watch faces to choose from and this may be the only one being added!

We want full customization. I would love to see a full interface for building watch faces. Resize dials, add complications anywhere, adjust size of complications, etc.

Or just give us a WatchFaceKit API damn it!

I hope they make a special Pride edition rainbow iPhone with a special version of Siri that sounds like a very bitchy pissed off gay guy. :D

As much as that would be very cool, I’m not sure it makes financial sense for Apple to create. You guys need to multiply your numbers first

Can't even what? Form an argument? The incident happened over a thousand miles away from you, it doesn't affect you in the slightest.

Straight men and women get stabbed, mugged, murdered all the time. We still manage to walk down the street.

Focusing on the important things I see.
Exactly. The entirety of Apple, Inc. can do exactly one thing at a time. Right now the world’s most valuable multinational corporation is a watch face company.

Definitely is not ROYGBIV. He must have missed science class when they talked about what causes rainbows. haha
Rainbow enough.

Great. A ‘I can’t decide my gender’ watch face but still no third party watch faces.
Maybe you should hold off until you learn what “gay” means.

im offended my favourite colour of the rainbow isnt included on the watch face. Do i have a case?

If there's hundreds of years of history of people being murdered because it's their favourite color, then yes.

Focusing on the important things I see.

It’s the same idiocy from the “soon they’re gonna want to marry toasters” crowd.

At the risk of actually writing something logical, let me remind everyone that it is possible to question Apple's direction regarding frivolous watch-faces and the like, without being at all against what the watch faces/bands/what-have-you represent. In other words, my dear friends, those of us questioning what the big hullabaloo is about a rainbow watch face would be doing the same (at least I would) for elephants, donkeys or pokémon watch faces. We're also the same crowd lamenting the mothballing of the Airport lineup and the hilarious misstep with the 2013 Mac "Pro."

Sure, there are some gay-bashing jerks around here, same as there are some gay people who are jerks. Being gay or not being gay says nothing about one's personality or capacity to be a decent or a reprehensible human being. Let's all be cool.

The watch faces are already classless abortions that need to go into the trash bin for crimes against graphic design. Adding more candy vomit isn’t going to improve appeal. It also trivialises the issue, gay rights and acceptance has zero to do with a watch face and solves ZERO actual problems! Sure add it Apple but please also include some proper designs that don’t hurt the senses.

My reaction at first was, is this really necessary? But after reading some of the comments in this thread, unfortunately apparently it is.

Maybe someday what happens between consenting adults will be nobody else's business, but until then I welcome any small (or large) part Apple or others can do.

Maybe someday, adults will be mature enough and won’t shove into other people’s faces their sexual preferences. Nobody gives an f**** what you do on your bed and in your private life. What’s all this pride thing exactly for? I don’t see straight people shouting “Pride for straight people”, nor making straight male parades or whatever.

And about the physical attacks that happen to some gays, I don’t think the pride parades and other types of promotion of homosexuality accomplish anything positive really to protect these individuals.
Our society gets violent for a lot of reasons unfortunately. Everything has to start with the education at home and school and learn to respect one another but at the same time I don’t think there is any reason to promote across all media a sexual preference that is found only in a very tiny percentage of the population.
[doublepost=1527684099][/doublepost]
As a guess, Apple's watch faces probably undergo a lot of optimizing / trimming to use minimal power (since it's the thing you see the most, and the battery is tiny) and they worry that 3rd party watch faces will run the watch down fast, with users complaining to/at Apple, not the 3rd party. With a small helping of Jony Ive "we know what is best" design snobbery thrown in.
[doublepost=1527655791][/doublepost]Do you honestly not understand their point? They want to be able to walk down the street holding hands without getting beaten up. They want to not have everyone trying to make them feel ashamed of their sexuality, and while you're at it, stop trying to pass laws designed to hurt them. Little things that straight males have never had to worry about and thus take for granted.
[doublepost=1527655996][/doublepost]Woah there fella, you seem awful touchy about what is or is not a rainbow.

I don’t think that by shouting “Pride” and doing parades with naked males is the solution to the violence against gay people.
If a person feels like he wants to attack a gay person he will do it no matter how many pride watch bands Tim releases.
