Not at all. When I see a confederate flag I have a natural urge to burn and/or piss on it, and I think that’s the most progressive thing one can do considering what that flag of failure represents.
Wow hold up there sport.

a transgender person has a 41% chance of suicide. This stays true whether or not they are treated according to their preference. 41%. You can find the studies on this topic.

This effects their families tremendously.
One of my friends is a sister whos sibling is transgender, her sibling has tried to suicide 3 times, most recently 2 weeks ago. It brings hardship on everyone around such a person everyday, not with all transgendered people, but a disproportionately large percentage.

So because to me it represents harm and struggle even potential loss to the families, does that mean someone can piss on and burn every transgendered person? No. It does not.

So really your example of pissing and burning on the confederate flag because of what it represents, falls short. As it is not open minded. Because todays term of open minded must take everyones feelings into account without prejudice, bias, personal experience, or any preconcieved notions of what you may understand to be true.

And as such I think you would count as a bigot. Since you do not recognise and accept someone who identifies as a person who likes the confederate flag.

Uh... it was a joke. It was supposed to be an absurd example, to parallel how absurd it is that people think gay people are pushing their "agenda" on the public by wearing a rainbow.

Looks like I struck a nerve.
So you think other peoples opinion is a joke? Thats ironic.. and extremely closed minded.

See what just happened there?
You just showed everyone your true colours

I read this over a few times and I’m more baffled than ever. You’re comparing being open minded to a flag that represents slavery to being open minded to transgender people? I don’t follow..

Im using personal experience to form my own opinion on something, and using the quoted persons reaction to something they dont agree with.. and “pissing on it.”

Sounds like they intimidate you. Fair enough; not all of us have the balls to be respectful toward things we don’t understand.

If you think that loving the same gender is the same as not knowing what gender you are, trust us: you’re unclear on that.
No, the issue is that the current CEO is not doing (in mine any many other opinions) as good a job as he could be in developing product and in the overall direction of the ‘ship’ and instead seems to get rather involved in more political issues and statements. That in and of itself is not a bad thing as long as it does not detract from his primary job. I have no issue with a rainbow watch face or the various watch bands that are available to the same sort of degree. And remember the the original Apple logo is a rainbow though it did not connote any sort sexual orientation at the time. An Apple Watch OS open to 3rd party watch faces would allow for even greater expression as well as functionality. But we don’t see that.

The other issue is that being inclusive and open to all walks of life, and embracing not only the LBGTQIA spectrum but also anyone and anything else as a matter of culture and forward thinking is a largely hypocritical double standard in America and often in many other places too as that inclusiveness and embrace really only applies to those who think and feel in ways that aligns with that agenda. And that is not inclusive. If you want people to embrace a culture, you have to embrace theirs as well whether you like it or agree with it, you still must acknowledge that they have both the right to their opinions and feelings and that those opinions and feelings are just as legitimate as yours. That is not what is happening. And so we have a double standard.

I have gay friends, some of which are liberals and some of which are conservatives, some that love and some that don’t like the current administration. And I have respect for who they are and what they believe whether I agree with them or not.

Well, there is a smaller risk involved between making sex with a man’s and woman’s natural genitalia and a lot bigger risk when making sex exclusively in the anus area.
I’m concerned because people harm themselves and we are promoting that as something cool, progressive and ok.

No it's exactly the same risk.

Ever heard of protection? Don't they teach about sexual safety in USA schools? What's not ok to you might be ok for others, that's a subjective opinion.

We still can't safely walk down the street. Can you please just let us have a watch face?

Speaking from the perspective of a “white, middle class, christian conservative”, I’m too busy with my own life to care what anyone else does. My only ‘issue’ with this is that by keeping the watch face environment closed Apple is determining what causes are supported. Want a rainbow face? Go for it! Personally I would love to see a US Flag face, but am not holding my breath. Now... if Apple would open the face enviroment we would quickly and easily satisfy everyone’s desire. All points of view, causes, charity, etc. could be supported.

I don’t think either of those words mean what you think they mean.
[doublepost=1527651648][/doublepost]
How silly of you. Groups that have been historically marginalized have every right to feel pride at how far they’ve come collectively.

I accept that many groups have been and continue to be marginalized, persecuted, etc., as well as understanding their happiness that things are changing. No one should be made to feel inferior - or superior - because the human reality is that we’re all equal.
That said, I suspect the poster was reflecting a more ‘modern’ perspective. One that IMHO we *should* be reflecting. One that say’s “how you choose to live your life is not only none of my business, but not something I’m going to spend even a moment of time worrying about”. I believe that if everyone spent less time worrying about what other people did... and more time on themselves... we’d all be a lot better off.

I find that those who complain about gay people shoving their sexuality in their face tend to be the same people who refuse to say "happy holidays" to non-Christians at Christmas. This is one reason why people don't believe their self-claimed motivations.

I'm not sure why watch faces are news, but m'kay. A rainbow flag is a good addition. Shouldn't be controversial.

I think anything that represents something that many Americans are still against, may become controversial. But, I wish they would get me round watch before they do anything else :).
[doublepost=1527709109][/doublepost]
I just want more flexibility on the watch faces. I'd love a square face with Roman numerals for occasional use or a Modular with 6 small complications (three in the middle vs one large one) for an app launchers. Or maybe Siri face with 3rd party plugins.

I actually use an Android Wear watch with my iPhone. Works just fine. I am missing some functionality, but it is worth it for me as I really prefer a round watch. And I have some great watch faces.
[doublepost=1527709230][/doublepost]
Might as well make a BLM, Feminism, SJW and so on Pride face while you’re at it. Don’t want to offend anyone nowadays :)

It is okay, I am sure Apple with come out with a "Safe Space" watch face to make them feel better if they get offended.

Maybe someday, adults will be mature enough and won’t shove into other people’s faces their sexual preferences.

Mature enough? Shoving sexual preferences into other people's faces? Do you really mean that? Or do you mean it only as it applies to homosexuals? Our society is literally bursting from the seams with heterosexual sexual preferences plastered all over everything - it's literally everywhere, every media source, half the ads and billboards, you can't get away from it. Yet if any speck of homosexual preference is spotted, people get all upset about it. Do you see the double standard?

Two guys kiss on a TV program, and you get angry letter writing campaigns and angry petitions and boycotts from "righteous people doing Jesus's work" (funny, Jesus never advocated hating entire groups of people)... meanwhile, how many overtly heterosexual kisses and heterosexual couples were on TV that day? And where is the outrage against that? Try to convince me that this is about anybody showing their preferences for what gender they prefer.

Nobody gives an f**** what you do on your bed and in your private life. What’s all this pride thing exactly for?

Clearly you're wrong, when 14 states have had laws making various forms of sexual conduct illegal as recently as 2003, and they had to be dragged kicking and screaming to the Supreme Court to get those laws struck off the books. And there are lots of fundamentalist types still screaming that they have a god-given right to treat gay people more poorly than straight people (funny, I thought Jesus's message was, "be kind to everybody and help others", not "go forth and hate and mistreat people in my name"). Plenty of people do apparently give a f*** what you do on your bed and in your private life. You don't feel that because you're not in their crosshairs.

I don’t see straight people shouting “Pride for straight people”, nor making straight male parades or whatever.

Oh come on, pretty much every sporting event is a straight male parade. You don't really need to have parades for the majority group, they get better stuff and more recognition all the time (it's like people arguing against "Black History Month" by saying "when is White History Month?" - but White History Month is every month, they just don't call it that). We have things like Gay Pride parades and Black Lives Matter and the MeToo movement because there are still an alarming number of people in this country who think that gays and blacks and women aren't really equals to straight white males, and thus it's okay to be mean to them, take advantage of them, and treat them as less than human. Gay Pride isn't about "shoving their sexual preferences in your face" - you really can't make that argument until you are required by law to attend the parade and all traces of overt heterosexuality (e.g. every image of a scantily clad woman selling you something) are removed from public display (I wouldn't advocate that, just don't get your knickers in a twist when you see an advertisement with two men holding hands, and we'll call it even), and "Black Lives Matter" doesn't mean "Only Black Lives Matter", it means, "Black Lives Matter Too" - too many black people are still getting pulled over for "driving while black", and too many are getting shot by police (apparently police can take a white mass murderer armed with multiple guns into custody, after the white guy has shot a dozen people to death, but they'll shoot a black teenager to death 10 seconds after rolling up on a scene because "he might have a gun", and when it turns out he doesn't, they try to hide that fact). When we finally get to the point where large swaths of the majority groups stop trying so hard to take advantage of, hurt, and discriminate against the minority groups, then we won't need parades and movements to show solidarity with the minority groups.

As for shoving it in people’s faces, how about this analogy: man I’m so sick of those Christians constantly pushing their religion down my throat, talking about their religious beliefs all the time and shoving it in my face by wearing crosses around their necks and putting crosses on the tops of buildings designed specifically to promote their way of life. Nobody cares what they do in their private lives, what’s all this proclamation for anyway? Why do they have public holidays and entire festive seasons for their beliefs, singing carols about it and having parades? You don’t see atheists insisting on public holidays and parades! How can I protect my children from Christianity when they insist on flaunting it in front of everyone, to the point of wearing symbols of it as jewelry!
I regret that I can only give you one like for this. The same people who would be aghast that you are mocking them in this way, have no qualms about treating other groups exactly this way.

Particularly ironic because so many of the people doing this are "doing it in Christ's name", yet Jesus never said, "go forth and punish entire groups of people in my name". His message, as I recall, was much more about being kind to everyone. They'll selectively quote parts of the Old Testament to support their position, yet, funny, they don't call themselves OldTestament-ians, they call themselves Christians. It'd be neat if they started acting more like Jesus. Until then, they just look like a group using religion as an excuse to justify the bad behavior they already wanted to do.

At the risk of actually writing something logical, let me remind everyone that it is possible to question Apple's direction regarding frivolous watch-faces and the like, without being at all against what the watch faces/bands/what-have-you represent. In other words, my dear friends, those of us questioning what the big hullabaloo is about a rainbow watch face would be doing the same (at least I would) for elephants, donkeys or pokémon watch faces. We're also the same crowd lamenting the mothballing of the Airport lineup and the hilarious misstep with the 2013 Mac "Pro."

Sure, there are some gay-bashing jerks around here, same as there are some gay people who are jerks. Being gay or not being gay says nothing about one's personality or capacity to be a decent or a reprehensible human being. Let's all be cool.
You really believe that the Mac Pro delay or discontinuation of the Airport lineup is because all of Apple has been developing this watch face? Come on. If anything, this watch face is a likely a last-minute idea put together by a few employees who work on watchOS. The Mac Pro, for example, is a large scale industrial engineering project, and while the delay may be frustrating, it is clearly a project that they want to get right and thus are spending the time to do so. They are trying to fix the very problems that you seem to have with the 2013 Mac Pro.

Love it!!! Looks amazing with my Pride band.

The “risks” you describe apply to heterosexuals too, so I guess they should stop having sexual activity too.

“Making sex exclusively in the anus area”. I think it’s remarkable that you believe that all gay men have anal sex, first of all, which is not the case. It is an even more baffling statement when we then consider that there are straight couples who have anal sex constantly and gay couples who never do. Ignorance continues to follow gay people around, so if you have a problem with pride flags or anything else, understand that you are the very reason these symbols are needed.

...

You sound like my mom every mothers day when I would ask"when is kids day?"...she would reply "every day is kids day" :). Every sporting event is not a straight male parade. They are not celebrating their sexuality. Would you have an issue if the straight people wanted to have a straight parade?

Also, is their a straight flag, and has Apple come out with that for the Apple Watch yet?

^I wouldn't try and put a stop to a straight pride parade; you have every right to have one, but I would not see it as equal to a gay pride parade; I would most likely (depending on how it actually went) see it as spiteful and unnecessary.

Some might call that a double standard :). Why can straight people not have pride in what they are as well?
