Most likely ambient light sensor. It has been stated already that it is unlikely the new iphone will have video confrencing as it is not a "World" standard just yet and att is still making updates to there network to handle all the new iphone traffic.

I wondered this too...some sort of sensor or perhaps front facing lens for video calling??

I think they look amazing and love that white strip round the bottom of the coloured ones...Retro but still classic lookin

I want one all in white. A Bigger screen and Stereo Bluetooth please.:)

How much larger of a screen do you need for a phone?
The iPhone already has one of the largest screens for a phone, how much larger do you want?

At a guess - IR sensor. You put the iPhone in the Dock, and control that with an Apple remote. Front Row through your docked iPhone. The dock itself could have IR like the current one. Could just be the light sensor though.

There is no confirmed date as of now. There may not even be a new model. Most are starting to lean towards no new hardware this summer.

Salute!
Okay. They are computer generated images of a Chinese fake iPhone then. Just imho.
Valid argument maybe.
Where do you see major differences to the "all black design" of the actual iPhone 3G? (Loving my white iPhone (photo).)

Salute! :)
Not saying you are wrong, everything is possible, we're all saying what we think.
These pictures were available with a different watermark to more sites, not chinese ones, this makes me doubt it's been design by someone in China for Chinese manufacturers, I think it's even simpler to leak a prototype than a design, if you care about intellectual property. In this case I think it's just some guy sharing his cool designs.
It is true the chinese copiers don't change too much of the original design, it's usually just about using plastic instead of glass and smaller touch screens. Either way, these seem possible improvements compared to what the iPhone is now, whole different story with the copies, IMO.
The black one in this picture

is not really different from the 3g, apart from the microphone/speaker and the whole aluminum surface unibody-like, a bit different from the bezel in the iPhone.

they are computer generated images, there's nothing real about them.

Perhaps the black one is computer generated but the imperfections in the photographic quality of the colored ones makes me believe that it is a real photo of real objects. The colors aren't as saturated as Apple's official product renderings and the photos which include the home screen looks like it was directly photographed. Add on top of that the quality of the shadows and reflections.

I'd believe these, except the home button is in such an awkward position. It doesn't even look like a button...

Perhaps the whole bottom is the home button. Notice the line between the home button area and the screen. This could create the opportunity for at least three new buttons depending on where you pressed on the rocker. Could open the door for interesting development. If you look closely at the seam of the button it is clear there is a small area (2-3mm) between the bottom of the screen and the button (line across the phone). This would be necessary to be able to press this area down otherwise you would run into the edge of the screen. This makes it seem like this is a working product rather than a concept rendering where they do not take things like this into account.

The reason for the two tone on the colored models is could be because they could be the rumored cheaper model with edge only. Aluminum backing and plastic antenna cover.

I am not saying these are the real deal. But if these are Chinese fakes they are the most accurate fakes I've seen. And most concept renderings I've seen are too extravagant and don't follow the design principles of Apple at all. These do.

If this were the new iPhone pics wouldn't it have 3.0 on it? Seems to me the sms app isn't blank like on 3.0.

Here's a link for what is claimed to be the original source: nowhereelse.fr

All images are presented without watermark.

Check out the first video labelled, iPhone Nano Chromatic Concept these are most definitely renders.

By this logic, 99% of the App Store shouldn't exist either. I really don't think Apple is going for the "professional" look or is even marketing this phone towards the professional community. Just look at all the commercials they have released; things like urbanspoon and shazaam (very gimmicky apps).

I'm still going to stand by what I said. I'm calling these pics fake.

I like the concept of the unibody iPhone renders. Switching to an aluminum, wrap around bezel (somewhat like the 2G touch) would look snazzy.

Even though I'll be getting black, those other colors do look fairly beautiful, IMO.

So I hope these are legit.
