Holy Cow wide! The only comfort I would need after that is help with the cholesterol heart attack that would go with it. However the fritters and sweet potato pie sound pretty darn good.

When I am feeling a little down I like pasta, preferably bowtie pasta, fresh homemade pesto sauce, mozzarella, grated parmesan, olives, and franchese garlic bread with lots of garlic, and a glass of good, strong, Cabernet...The ensuing food coma/endorphin high/fuzzy-warm-feeling cuts through a blue mood like a hot knife through butter. :D

I don't really have a particular comfort food but every Friday (mostly) I love just piggin' out on some takeaway food. Preferably Indian, Chinese, Italian, or some fish and chips (in that order, but not at once obviously) :p

And you can't beat some home made soup :D I love making a nice vegetable broth. Ahhh, lovely during those chilly Autumn evenin's.

Oh, I also forgot! Soft breaded donairs and lamb gyros!!!

As long as there's a load of chilli sauce, and some of those pickled chillis. Mmm.

But yes, there must be lager.

this food eating isn't like the crying while eating thing right? :p
I don't know why but I find that site very entertaining and some of the reasons why one is crying is sort of hilarious.

And my comfort food would be Dark Coco.

Veggie sausage & mash with onion gravy and peas. mmmmm.

This is quite often my "line your stomach before you go out drinking" food too!

Comfort foot. mmmmhhhh..let me think...the only thing that comes to mind is.

Apple Pie and whipped cream or cool whip (will do)

That' it nothing more nothing less.

Japanese curry rice, mashed potatoes and gravy, Korean tofu ji gae, baskin-robbins pralines and cream ice cream are always good for curing the blues but not all at once.

Real Italian Sunday Gravy, AKA a piece of either pork or beef on the bone, meatballs, sausage and braciolle slow cooked all day in a tomato sauce.

Smoked baby back ribs.

Thin crust pizza from nyc.

Korean kimchi jigae.

vahlrona dark chocolate

in -n-out cheeseburger

shepard's pie

and of course, Roscoe's chicken and waffles. read about it here!

Ham sandwiches. Dunno why, but no matter how crazy my culinary habits go when life is beautiful, I always end up with a ham sandwich when times are low.

If I can't be bothered making a sandwich, then I leap into a bag of corn chips. Mmm...

Back in the days when I was far more dependent on comfort food also happens to coincide with the time frame before I lost 50 pounds, and I've been fortunate in keeping it off to this point.

Some items I relied upon in the past were squares of crumb cake with monster sized crumbs, yummy pasta and Baskin-Robbins pralines 'n cream cones.

Yet the undeniable fact is that ever since childhood my favorite food has been, and remains, tuna. One of these days I will glow in the dark just like the backlight feature on some PowerBooks.

Dark chocolate

Hershey's Special Dark will due in a pinch, but REAL dark chocolate with high percentage cacao is the way to go. (Hershey has a 'special edition' 70% cacao bar out right now.) If I wanted milk in my chocolate, I'd buy Nestle Quik.
