Hot and Sour soup.

Whenever it's cold out, if I'm getting sick, or if I'm just feeling down, a big bowl of hot and sour soup always makes me feel better. :)

After your graphic description of your clubbing experience in NY, I have a different image in my mind of that big bowl of hot and sour soup. What's of that soup?

On the kettle corn, one of the options is an 18 pack of microwave kettle corn. I have one for lunch about once a week.
Wow, that is a lot of popcorn for lunch. I could maybe go through 2 or 3, but never all 18 in the pack. You da man.

Comfort food when the weather turns...

Lentil soup with thick-cut granary bread with butter
Tomato and bean stew cooked with a ham joint and served over rice
Lasagne (but only to the hand-me-down family recipe)
Rhubarb crumble with cream

WOW! I wasn't sure what my comfort food was until I read yours. Sounds like I need to go shopping tonight to make Lentil soup and Tomato and bean stew, and of course Rhubarb crumble.

My wife's comfort food is Shepards pie.

I'm addicted to Slurpees. I got fat over the summer as a result. Seriously, I'm like a Berenstein Bear now.

My wife's leek and potato soup with some good bread.
Chocolate chip or fudge stripe cookies with some coffee.

Wow, interesting to see all of the people who turn to sweets when they're down in the dumps. I guess I knew that was the case, but they've just never appealed to me as comfort food.

Mom's Chicken and Dumplings, probably at the top of the list.
My wife's Asparagus casserole.
Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.
Campbell's Chicken Noodle-O's soup.
Egg drop soup.
French toast (OK, that's a sweet).

What a good thread, I got a bad cold today so not being near my usual comfort food haunts (baskin Robbins and Safeway's fresh soups) I had some onion soup with gnocchi, a little red wine and chocolate. It seems to have worked as the fever broke and I look moderately alive. Soup is always the best cure physical or mental for me and the wine takes some of the agony away. The only better comfort would be to have someone around 24/7 to cater to me and listen to me whine, but then I'd probably turn into a hypchondriac so maybe it's better that I'm single!

Glad to hear you're feeling better. ;)

My favorites:

Chinese Food (fried tofu, hot & sour soup, wanton soup, sesame chicken)
Popcorn
Meatloaf and mashed potatoes
Matzo Ball Soup
Macaroni and cheese
Hostess Cupcakes
Thomas Sweets ice cream (or just about any ice cream)
I rarely have this but I love it – Vegetable Tempura or a Hibachi dinner
Mexican food – vegetable burritos, guacamole, rice and beans

Yum!

I like water... a lot. So I drink water. I eat some candy, but I have less than 4 or 5 in a month, probably less. I guess my comfort food would have to be hot soup. I could eat soup and drink water forever.
