In my Town any "Male" who orders a drink with more than 2 adjectives is very likely to be playing for both Teams.

Your town "Male"s are of few words and held-back indecisiveness, are they?

I have no idea what's in it, but I've liked the Frappucinos I've ordered at random. I also like the caramel something or other. It's like hot ice cream.

As far as the verbosity in ordering coffee is concerned, my orders can turn into a debate as I consider my options.

So yes, I suppose I am pro complex Starbucks drinks.

I occasionally stop at Sbux for a latte for something special - I make mine every day with a POS drip maker from Walmart and add cream, so stopping for a Grande Gingerbread Latte half-caf double hot is a special treat (esp considering the nearest one is :30 mins away)... but If you're ever in Seattle, try Torrefazione Italia, not necessarily the original Starbucks.

...Aaaaand avoid Dunkin Donuts at all costs: out of the <20 times I've been there, 6 times I've been back in my car on the road and realized they gave me the wrong thing.

I can't comment on starbucks outside Australia but here the chain has a reputation for its awful coffee.

Australia was years ahead of most countrys in terms of coffee, 20+ years ago we and cappacinos and the like and you can generally get great coffee here, almost anyplace. We have freinds over from the UK and it was so funny seeing them ordering coffee. Now the UK seem to be catching on as well though

Starbucks came to a very sophisticated coffee culture and sorry but we are just not impressed, their coffee is so bitter and tastes burnt. My brother(when he was over in Europe) was going out with a Starbucks buyer and she said their policy was to go for the cheapest possible (but not the best) coffee and they buy it on a worldwide scale like a commodity.

All this fair trade and trendy type stuff is a bit of a front to make people feel better about drinking their awful coffee.

However, if you like the coffee, please come to Australia and have your taste buds enlightened!

I am not just being pro Aussie here, but honestly Starbucks Sucks is a popular saying-any other fellow Aussies like to concur??

A tip for anyone looking for a good coffeee shop, If you see loads of cyclists its a very good sign.

Gloria jeans is much better than starbucks but MUCH better still are independants. Look for Danes-ummmm

To spot a good barrista avoid the young teenage kids who generally work in Starbucks, look for the scruffiest, unkempt haired, half shaven, Italian descent type guy

when i used to get starbucks i'd get a "Triple Venti Soy White Mocha" not the most complex, and i was a regular so i usually didn't have to say anything either.

i've stopped drinking it for the most part though, but have been tempted recently due to the cold weather and lack of energy. might have to pick one up without the extra shot.

"The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don't know what the hell they're doing or who on earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall. Decaf. Cappuccino." -Tom Hanks, You've Got Mail

I like Starbucks. I am not a black coffee drinker but I like coffee in other drinks.

did anyone see "office space"? remember the perky little waiter at the Chocthkie's, the restaurant they are at in the beginning of the movie? he comes up to them all hyper-perky and happy and says:

<snip image>

"So can I get you gentlemen something more to drink? Or maybe something to nibble on? Some Pizza Shooters, Shrimp Poppers, or Extreme Fajitas?"

THATS every starbucks barista i have ever met. that hyperactive fake joyousness they exude. it kinda freaks me out.

Really? In my case it's more there completely out of it, and just simply could care less.

But I rarely go to Starbucks, honestly it just taste so second rate to a local place here in my city.

Tried a Starbuks in Sydney and loved the comfie seats and good service but the coffee was awful. On a visit to the UK I tried one near London and the coffee tasted the same! I will give them 10/10 for a consistent product but its consistently awful. It tasted so burnt.

I can't understand why you guys all go there. I really can't. If its for the wifi hot spots, music and sofas fair enough but surely not for the coffee.

We do have great coffee here as some one has said so maybe our taste buds have already been educated.

That's why I go to a 7-11 ( convenience store ) and get refill of their coffee in my Starbucks Cup. Then I head over to the Starbucks. This way I never have to stand in line at Starbucks, have decent coffee, and keep more of Mybucks out of Starbucks! :D

In all honesty there is a Starbucks where the local college kids like to hang out and I bet most of them " bring their own coffee "! :D

Questions to a Starbucks Employee

You may not know but:

1) Why does the coffee taste so burnt and bitter-maybe that's how the US likes it?? I couldn't drink Turkish coffee so maybe its a cultural thing.

2) Surely Starbucks has done taste market research or is it true that they only go for the cheapest coffee and over roast it to try and compensate?

3) Is their coffee really the same all over the world or am I imagining it?

Nope, most of us don't like bitter and burnt-tasting coffee.

Starbucks tends to burn their beans during roasting and the baristas often pull a shot all the way down to the last dredges. I can't speak for all roasters and coffee shops, but Peet's doesn't burn their beans during roasting, and they don't use the last of an espresso shot, either. :) Translation: (strong) coffee doesn't and shouldn't taste burned or bitter.

if a coffee tastes burnt or bitter

its because

1) it has been sitting two long

2) its been roasted way to hot

if you ever get this ...go back and tell them..it helped us alot

Someone recently asked me whether I liked Starbucks. My answer was "I guess I'll never know -- I refuse to pay $4 for a coffee."
