Do we really think the sensors/camera/speaker will be designed to cut into the screen like that?!?

I guess you'll need to see it in person but it looks kinda ugly to me

If that's the case, what would they do with the status bar icons for notifications? If they cut into the screen like that they will have limited room. Makes no sense to me. Let's hope they don't force you to swipe down to see notifications. A step backward imo, we will see.

I think its awesome that they stretched the screen to the limits of what is possible. My only concern is that there is no longer any space up top for the time, only the cell signal and battery.

looks fine to me and nothing like a s8. the essential phone has the same idea but looks better with a much smaller cut out

I wonder if the front-facing camera will be prone to smudging from users swiping down for Notification Center.

Thats what you said about those antina bars in iphone 6, and there you go apple sold 80 million

So are the 4.7 and 5.5 inch models be mostly the same as the bigger OLED one? Other than OLED and the type of metal frame?

I told you so!

I came up with this design for the iPhone back in 2010!!

I also told yall to wait for the 8. Skipping the 7 was so worth it.

I think it will cut into the screen like that BUT unlike all these mockups, I think the corners will be colored black to match the cutout.
That way it will look like a solid black strip going across the top and the corners will still display the battery/signal information.

I doubt it. Where are all the icons? I have an alarm icon, a bluetooth icon, and icon for bluetooth headphones with a power meter, just on the right side. The left side would already be full with just the bars and "Verizon", and that doesn't even include LTE or Wifi indicators.

I don't think this is what the top will look like at all.

True....and maybe it'll look much better in person...here's hoping :D

The more these leaks come out the less I've liked what I've seen. I really want to be hyped for this phone, but I can't help but think how much better the s8 looks. Hopefully the actual design will be better, but so far the design renders and bigger than 4.7 dimensions mean this phone is a no buy for me.

I still don't like the cutout for the camera and speaker and I think a think a thin bezel would work better. Watching a video it will either be missing that area of the screen or the app will stop at the border which is messy in my opinion.

I would think the screen at the top - where the signal bars, time, battery life, etc. are - would be a black background with white icons and text. That way it would appear as though it's black all the way across, making the main portion of the screen rectangular.
I was going to say the same thing. It doesn't make sense having a portion of the main image continue like it does in these renders.

About to post the same and completely agree it looks weird in this mockup. My guess is that the actual screen won't extend above the sensors flanking either side, the way this mockup suggests. Developers would have a funky time adjusting games and apps to account for that dead space otherwise.

That would make much more sense
