Do we really think the sensors/camera/speaker will be designed to cut into the screen like that?!?

I guess you'll need to see it in person but it looks kinda ugly to me

I don't like it, but during one of the session of this week they talked about changes to the upper part of the UI, so we can expect something different there.

I really hate to disappoint everyone including myself. We're not getting iPhone 8 but rather iPhone 7S. I don't see any reason Tim Cook will take a drastic change knowing him that sells is important for him. The iPhone 7 sells really good despite of predictions from so called experts. It does make sense that gearing up for a big change next year should be ready by now.
According to the rumors, the 7S is still happening along side the 8. I may hold out for 8S at this point.

I'm sorry, I just can't take that stupid "rabbit eared" screen seriously. Extremely ugly and pointless.
Im praying that this design isn't real. That rabbit eared design just looks hideous, and it looks like pictures you take etc will all be abnormal because of such a stupid design!

The other two iPhone models are predicted to be more easy to obtain, with combined shipments of the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 7 and iPhone 7s expected to reach 25-30 million units in the second half of the year.

Who is going to buy the 7s?
It will cost like iPhone 7 now, so a very high price, but it will be basically the same design for the forth year in a row.
Sound like a compromise to me, like I want a new iPhone but I cannot afford the new OLED bezel free model and I end up buying the 7s.
I'd rather keep my 6s and wait for another year when hopefully all their line up will be OLED and bezel free.

I still don't like the cutout for the camera and speaker and I think a think a thin bezel would work better. Watching a video it will either be missing that area of the screen or the app will stop at the border which is messy in my opinion.
I'm trying to figure out what the difference between stopping at the border of the cutout or stopping at the bottom of the bezel is. I guess I'm assuming that the areas to the left and right of the cutout would be used for informational icons, maybe trimmed to fit the restricted area (who needs the entire word Verizon when V would suffice) on a black background. Just my opinion.

Sorry but all these renders so far are showing such boring flat tired same-old designs. It's really time for some new bezels and a premium soft-touch back option at least! BlackBerry DID do some things right.

If the entire front is really a screen then there are no bezels, only areas intentionally left dark/black, for whatever reasons. And, again if the entire front of the phone is a screen, any representation can be changed by software and may look different on the released phone.

You're argument is invalid. Apple could put a physical Touch ID smack in the middle of the display and still sell millions. They'll come up with some PR ploy about why that's the most efficient and market it as the higher end model. It's Apple, people eat up everything they throw out, people will still camp out to get it day one, including myself probably.
Totally get your point. Apple doesn't actually make freakin' amazing products, it's just that Apple tells people they do and people believe them. I guess that means these people are stupid or weak willed though I am not sure how that argument holds up when you look at the demographic that buy Apple products. What always amazes me is that Apple seems to be (one of?) the only companies that can do this, convince people to buy what are apparently crap products according to the majority of posters on MacRumors, but perhaps that's because they are (fill in the blank)? Maybe Steve Jobs' legendary "Reality Distortion Field" has lived on in the company long after his passing?

There is a "Reality Distortion Field" that exist here on the MacRumors Forum but unfortunately it has turned to the dark side leading to so many hateful posts with no basis in fact or reality, just complaints.

I made this before they revealed they're bringing back the bar signals but they could stack it. Otherwise, I don't see any other possible way they're gonna fit everything into that tiny space.

That’s actually pretty neat, I didn’t think about stacking them. Seems logical and actually looks decent. Nice work! Hopefully they go a similar route.

We're getting close to the part of the year where rumors start to become much more reliable. "iPhone 8" seems to be happening at this point but who knows?

There have been many reports the last couple weeks to confirm Touch ID will be embedded in the screen. You don't have to worry about that aspect.
My question is where in the screen is it embedded, is it all over the screen?
I mean, is it literally anywhere your finger rests? Or will you still have to move your registered digit to roughly the position that the home button sits on current and previous models?

Tired of seeing people butcher the concept, here's my edit that I made using ****** MS Paint. I really think the top area will stay black, looks much better this way.

See, I love the dimensions. It's only slightly larger than the 4.7 while having a screen larger than the Plus. I think Apple's catering to everyone who wanted the large screen of the Plus, but didn't buy it because of the absurdly large form factor. The forehead and chin are the only reason I've never owned a Plus. The 8 is a must buy for me.
Excellent point. The 8 may be in my future too.

Perhaps anywhere on the screen? That wouldn't surprise me, and technically be possible.

Anywhere on the screen? How could you use any other 3D touch actions if the whole screen acted as a home button when force pressed?

Even if it was only the lower part of the screen that could act as a home button, it would interfere with 3D touch actions on icons in your dock.

The only solution I see, aside from putting the home button on the side or worse, on the back, is an always visible function area at the bottom at the screen (which the first rumors about this phone mentioned).

The problem is touch ID isn't magic; it's simply a camera looking at your fingerprint and comparing it to a stored image of that fingerprint. For it to work anywhere it would mean the entire screen would have to be a camera, not ever going to happen. For it to work a physical camera has to placed under the screen at a certain location, I'm guessing middle of the bottom of the screen. Or on the back.

I get that it's only a mock-up, but I'm not loving the look of the call-speaker and front camera. Obviously it will look something like that, but fingers crossed for something looking a bit more elegant.

It's the slightly larger that's the problem. I don't mind the extra height, but the 4.7 is on the edge of what I can grip one-handed and is still somewhat awkward to use compared to a 4 inch phone. The width is only predicted to be 5 mm bigger on the iphone 8, but I suspect that will be enough to make it too wide to grip in one hand. I'll definitely try in out in store to see how it handles since I may be wrong; I thought the 6 would be too big when it came out, but it ended up being okay. I have really small hands so I imagine the increased dimensions will be fine for most people, but I don't want to give up one-handed use.

I would think the screen at the top - where the signal bars, time, battery life, etc. are - would be a black background with white icons and text. That way it would appear as though it's black all the way across, making the main portion of the screen rectangular.

Someone may have already said this, but what about the white-faced iPhones? That's the one thing that makes me doubt these renders. If that black cutout is white it will look like garbage.

Now I can totally see them doing something like this

Oh, my bad. I envision a virtual home button with a touch bar like area to the left and right.
