As we get closer to the launch of the so-called "iPhone 8" in the fall, a new report out of Apple's supply chain today confirms that the company has begun mass producing components for all three of 2017's iPhone models. The report corroborates what has been rumored for well over a year: Apple will launch two iterative iPhone updates sized at 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches, along with a 5.8-inch model that includes the first ever OLED screen on an iPhone.

According to DigiTimes' sources, the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones will include a reinforced glass chassis and an aluminum metal frame, while the 5.8-inch iPhone will feature the same reinforced glass chassis and an unspecified "metal frame." Recent rumors have largely agreed that the iPhone 8's frame will be made of stainless steel, similar to Apple Watch.

Samsung Display is one of the manufacturers currently in component production on Apple's next-generation iPhones, and is said to be ready to supply up to 80 million AMOLED panels for the 5.8-inch iPhone 8 in 2017, falling between the 70 million and 92 million previously rumored.
The manufacturer will be capable of outputting another 80 million AMOLED panels this year, but that half will be focused on orders from Samsung Electronics and other, non-Apple smartphone clients. Sources did say that if Apple were to increase its orders, Samsung Display "is expected to keep some flexibility" in its supply chain to cut down orders elsewhere and compensate its output for the Cupertino company.

The rumor on the street is that Apple is expected to continue to slow down potential Qualcomm modem data speeds on the new iPhone 8s because of their ongoing court fight with Qualcomm.

why isn't the new siri logo dicussed yet? The new siri logo looks like a homebutton with the siri visuals in it. That immediately came to me as i saw the new siri logo.

Also when in Ios 11 using siri, the coloured moving stripes change into a bubble that perfectly fit the inner ring of the home button.

Did anyone else notice this ?

Do we really think the sensors/camera/speaker will be designed to cut into the screen like that?!?

I guess you'll need to see it in person but it looks kinda ugly to me

that's what Apple does now. they make ugly iphones. :/ I was disappointed to see that they kept the camera bump on the new ipad pro. they just dont care about design for iphone anymore, as long as it's thin. thats all they seem to care about.

They literally stuck iOS 11 screen-shots on the essential phone. This isn't news worthy.
This. It's BS that this kind of "news" makes the front page. Apple would never, ever release a phone with that cutout on the top. That would be worse than the rear touch ID.

I sure hope not. That looks TERRIBLE.

Ha. I just can't believe they would do anything like that?!?!

Dont like those mock-ups. iOS and the iPhone both look terrible.

Every time Same concept with awful camera earpiece cutout. No original leak:(

This camera ^^^and ^^^earpiece cutout from display looks awful.Hope Apple has something way nicer planned.:D

Many on here are expressing their dislike for that 'indentation' into the top of the screen area, and while it's hard to argue about taste, I must admit I actually think that looks nice, while being practical at the same time.

Not only does it break up an otherwise very uniform yet uninteresting rectangle, but in addition to the functional aspect of housing the camera, earpiece, sensors, etc., it also instantly confirms (in the absence of the familiar TouchID ring) which way is up, when grasping it off your desk.

If this design materializes, we'll probably get used to it very quickly.

According to the rumors, the 7S is still happening along side the 8. I may hold out for 8S at this point.

Im praying that this design isn't real. That rabbit eared design just looks hideous, and it looks like pictures you take etc will all be abnormal because of such a stupid design!

That's what this rumour claims, and if they have the 7S and 8 on sale at the same time then we can be pretty certain the 8 will cost a fortune, that rumoured 1000 plus price tag.

I think this would make much more sense:
iPhone 8 Status Bar.jpg

If you use the 7 Plus status bar icons and resolution, it would all easily fit into those screen parts next to the cutout and still leave room for the VPN and Location icons.

Given that every source from AppleInsider to Wall Street Journal to Forbes to Wired, CNET, Engadget and oh, yes MacRumors all agree about what the prices for model 8 will be, almost exactly, I don't think it can be called a rumor anymore. It wouldn't surprise me if it was intentionally leaked so that the shock of the price happened 6-8 months ago instead of September.

A price rumor, though not one that I would believe, would be if a semi-reputable source said it was going to be $600-700. Not that anyone is saying that.

True, what puts the spanner in the works for me though are the lack of 7S rumours.
I will probably look at the 7S anyway if they launch one. But Apple has thrown a few surprise announcements at WWDC so you never know.

I'm actually starting to dig this design. I personally would like to get one in white but I yet the see one rendered in that color.

I like it,
I love it,
I want some more of it!

Who the hell cares, you do know there are towers on the other side and those things are not changed anytime soon, that the standard used here is not even 100% solid (thus slowing adoption by telecoms), and the Qualcom devices also throttle way more when under load cutting speed quickly anyway.

Yeah, in a lab for a few seconds, I'm sure it will be deadly fast (sic).

The main advantage of this usually is in latency and efficiency, not speed and the fact Apple's SOC runs cooler and Intel uses a better process makes all this pretty much a wash in real world test.

This is mostly a marketing, PR move, in Qualcom vs Apple war of words, rather than a real world advantage.

As been proved in the current use of Qualcom vs Intel modem in real world tests.

Learn about physics or stop commenting, simple isn't it. That's all I'm going to say about "bumps" from now on.

I agree this cutout is far fetched. But it still counts as a rumor or front page article, as it directly relates to the iPhone 8. Just as the other Daily rumors on here. Half of them may have no validity, but it's a rumored website to begin with.
