Thanks for your prediction. You sound about as accurate as weather predictions.

Wow, then I must able to tell you exactly what your weather will be in 8 months time then! Thanks for the compliment although I've never thought of a career in meteorology ;)

8GB iPad Mini starting at either $249.99 or $299.99. Simple as that. The iPod Touch (totally different device with different purpose) starts at $199.99 for 32GB or the new generation at $299.99 for 32GB.

Dream on, and please STOP proclaiming a small touchscreen device with no cellular capabilities is different to a large touchscreen only device with no cellular capabilities. And therefore the smaller device will cost more then the larger device when they are made by a company that has NEVER sold a product without significant mark up in it's ENTIRE history.

And I am talking about the new gen iPod Touch. As others will tell you including myself, you are a fool if you really think an ipad Mini is going to be cheap no matter the spec, it would also be seen as a joke if it was the only new Apple iDevice with no retina screen.

I am SO curious what the price of one of these bad boys will be.

$299 is my guess. $399 for one with more memory. More full featured and better built than the Kindle Fire. Plus Apple likes to (and can) make a profit off its hardware sales. Don't expect $199. That is not going to happen.

Timing is not perfect because of the current Apple lineup and it's pricing. The market is not right due to the same reason as Apple will as I stated charge a fortune for it.
And frankly you are a fool, no question, if you really are going to believe APPLE will sell a tablet PC for less then it's brand new iPod Touch it's spent time and money on developing.

I have even read several big name tech and gadget mags predict the same thing. it will NOT be cheap.

Ah, now I understand your post: you have no idea what the common meanings of timing and market are.

Time will tell what price the mini has.

I am "a fool" though, because I think Apple can set the price of the mini lower than the iPod Touch. The touch is not an important product for Apple. I think the Mini is. The main competitor for the iPod Touch is the iPhone. So there's little incentive to price it aggessively. The main competition for the mini are the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fires. More broadly, Apple is battling for ecosystem dominance. They have every reason to price it aggressively.

Not really crazy about this iPad mini. I think the current choices are good. You either have an iPhone/Touch or iPad. Something in between seems silly.
I do understand the pressure of coming out with something cheaper to capitalize on an area that Apple is not present but not sure it's necessary on the consumer POV.
I love the iPad size and smaller I feel will break that experience and push into something more like and iPhone IMO.

We can all guess the price as much as we want

but we'll get to know soon ....how:confused:

Rumours as usual:p

Doubledown my **

Yeap you got THAT right. I don't need time to tell me the entire history of Apple and it's pricing policies. And the FACT it has always priced itself as a premium brand and always will and will NEVER sell a device at a loss or cost price, in fact I do believe it's a minimum 30% mark up on it's devices.

I mean Christ they sell a USB cable at 5 times the price of everyone else just because it's made by Apple! And you think the iPad Mini is going to be cheap? hahahahahahahahaha

I have an ipad 3 and am struggling with the idea of owning the mini as well. I need it to serve a purpose. We shall see.

Don't. 7 inches is the wrong size for a tablet. Apple has already determined this, years ago. Steve said so.

First of all they are vastly different devices hahaha. Let's see iPod Touch - no cellular capabilities, correct. iPad Mini - cellular capabilities including 3G or 4G LTE. I'll put this in terms so you can understand. iPod Touch: needs wifi no matter which one you purchase. iPad Mini: can be used outside of wifi access with 3G or 4G (whichever they go with).

Secondly, the size of the device is everything. iPod Touch is incredibly portable, whereas the iPad Mini is not nearly as portable.

The storage space also comes into play, and as I said, the iPad Mini will probably start at 8GB for incredibly cheap $249 or $299. They would still make a huge profit, you have no idea the costs they have in this device, you are just spewing out random thoughts you think are axioms.

Agree. Apple can get away with a $50 - $75 premium over the Nexus 7, but I can't see much more than that if they want to sell them as aggressively as they've ordered (10 million is an insane #)

This is my opinion, not necessarily fact.

I think Apple's ace in the hole might be the larger display. The extra .85" at 4:3 provides 40% more real estate than the Nexus 7, which still feels like a blown up phone to me without the cellular convenience. So if the mini's larger display makes it feel more like a smaller tablet as opposed to a larger phone (I know, fine line here), I think Apple could easily charge $100 over Nexus 7 and still be a runaway hit; especially when you factor in Apple's trademark industrial design and superior ecosystem of apps and accessories.

And just how much is the LTE iPad then? Point proven me thinks. Thanks for confirming it. Also you need to read and comprehend before replying seeing as I thought we were discussing the iPad Mini and NOT the iPad 3 so don't twist words or the discussion. Unless your daft enough to believe even an LTE iPad Mini would cost $250?
And you are going to be totally wrong, but hey as I said, when a company prices a cable at an extortionate price of course it will sell a product at cost value or even a loss.......:rolleyes:

The suppliers are testing how tough Tim Cook is with all these leaks. They're undermining his authority. They knew what to expect from Steve Jobs so they played it safe, now and leak after leak, no one getting "punished' has made everyone I guess be able to walk all over Cook.

I now know you are 10, and understand your feeble thought processes, based on your statements in bold. That literally doesn't even mean anything haha. Yes, if there is an iPad Mini with LTE it will be more than the iPad Mini with wifi. iPad Mini 8GB wifi starting at either $249 or $299. iPad Mini 8GB LTE starting at either $379 or $429. And yes, they will still make a killing in the profit margin, especially if they use older technologies like non-retina, and A5.

I know this view is a popular one but, for me, it's irrational.

They aren't competing products. One is a tablet, the other is a Personal Media Player. There is no reason why the price of the iPod touch should have any baring on the price of any of the iPad line.

But the iPod touch is $299 at 32GB. So, maybe not $249, but certainly $299 would be in reach at 16GB.

That's probably my upper threshold for buying one.

Mainly it'll have less storage than the $299 iPod.

$249 tablet with 8GB
$299 iPod Touch with 32GB

Then why does a 16gb full size ipad cost $499? (3rd gen)? shouldn't it be cheaper? Think about it...3 different screen sizes, so 3 different, yet increasing price points: ipod touch, ipad mini, ipad = $299, $399, $499...thats what they did with their notebook line (when the 17in was still sold), they sold each increasing screen size at increasing points...

oh and btw, you guys really think a company that is charging $30 for an adapter (30 pin to lighting) is going to make a competitively cheap tablet? Apple does not care if there are competitors with better specs at half the price, they will still make their products at their own price points, and people will still buy millions of them (it costs 1/2 to build a similarly spec'd dell notebook when compared to the base model macbook pro)...

Uh that adaptor has brand new technology, and you think it would be what $5?

Apple would be foolish to release a 7 inch tablet at any price. A 7 inch screen is too small to properly express tablet software. Apple did extensive usability testing and determined this to be the case years ago.

7 inches is just simply the incorrect size.

It's not 7", it's 7.85". Sure, that doesn't sound like a big difference, but it's a huge change in surface area.

It will be interesting to:

1)See the price of the Mini
2)Compare its features and price to the iPod Touch

The cheapest Touch is now $299 which is ridiculous. The cheapest iPad is $499. I would expect Apple to price the Mini at $399...it has to be cheaper than the iPad to make people want to save the $$$ vs. the features lost yet more expensive than the Touch (which essentially is the iPhone and the iPad already minus 1-2 key hardware features).

Lastly, keeping this all in mind:

1)When would we expect to see a next iPad Regular? Is Apple going to have similarly named products yet different release cycles? If so, that seems confusing. If not, seems like people have to wait til Nov 2013 for new iPad Regular.

2)I would assume the iPad Regular doesn't drop in price next Nov 2013.

Just does not seem like apple to be worried about price points. They sold millions and millions of iPads at a premium. I totally believe we're getting a mini but makes me think, would this have happened with Steve. Probably not. This also opens the door for people that have the money for a iPad regular, to settle for a cheaper one. Whatever they decide to do, there going to sell millions

----------

Apple surely keeps the App Store developers on there toes. Here's another resolution to mess around with. Lol. I'm saying 399 has to be starting point.

I disagree. Price is everything. It needs to be in the realm of competitive if they want to keep competition at bay. They don't have to be the cheapest. But they can't "afford" to overprice their device or people will still continue to choose alternatives.

If your going to start using meaningless insults to backup your argument then goodbye.
Come back when you have learnt how to read and understand comprehension like I said. Because you CLEARLY cannot.
You also clearly lack any knowledge of profit margins or Apple's ENTIRE history of it's brand and pricing.

Yeah I'm done with you, so many grammar and spelling errors in your post it is just silly.

This is the iPhone 5 leaks all over again. We kept seeing the leaks and people said "not real, it's not happening" and guess what? It was real.

Let's not forget last year's teardrop iPhone which many were certain was real even though we only saw mockups and cases. And the fact that there has been a 'second iPad in the Fall' rumor since the first iPad. Thus folks skepticism about this.

haha, I mentioned that before and got shot down! But you are SSSOOOOOO right. All these cases that showed proof of a totally new design, and they launched the iPhone 4S....

iPads are usually 'refreshed' once each year. If anything, I think Apple may switch to the Lightening connector on the iPad along with the release of the mini.

It's not Apple's style to refresh a mobile device just for a connector. Which is why they didn't do it for the iPhone 4 or 4s. Lightening will come to the iPad 4th gen when it is released, likely in the spring
