It's going to be a long 2 weeks before we know anything, hoping they blow us out of the water with something great....

I just want my 1st ever iMac ...

Minimum hard drive 1TB,8GB Ram,USB 3,blacklite keyboard would be nice?

All for £999

I think like many people July will be the final straw.

Go vote HERE if you too will jump ship if there's no refresh in July.

Yes indeed, this month is the last straw for me too. I *almost* bought last years model when it came out, but realized I could wait longer and get by with my aging Core 2 Quad and wait for the next model--secretly hoping Apple would switch to Nvidia GPUs again. Well I got my wish with their move back to Nvidia this time around, but because of the switch we have had to endure this ridiculous delay.

There will be no reason whatsoever for much of a delay beyond the ML release, maybe another week or two beyond would make sense if it makes the logistics any easier for Apple.

Right now for me it's a race between the releases of either the new iMac with the 680M, or the GTX 660 desktop card that I'll build a gaming rig around. Though Nvidia is my preference for GPUs, they are really screwing this upgrade cycle up for me something fierce with these delays. I had really figured I'd be either building a gaming rig or buying an iMac 3-4 months ago, so I've about had it with the delays.

The sad part it, it's really all Nvidia's fault--not Apple's...assuming the iMac delay is due to the delay in the availability of the 680M.

Well if they release in July I guess we can delete all this gazilion threads, as they continue the usuall cycle, as expected.
But boy what will happen if not... Geez, havoc!
If I were Tim cook and I didn't release the iMac on July I would have hide..:)
Also on a side note, I don't think that I have ever had a point in my life when months move sooooo slow ....
Apple is definitely distorting time...

You would NOT release the iMac with ML? But, IF you were Mr. Cook, when would you release the iMac 2012??

----------------------------------------------------------------

Is it possible, that the iMac could be leased with the iPhone 5??
- Or am I crazy?

He means that if he were in Cook's shoes and he were not to release new iMacs with alongside ML he would hide(Due to all the angry consumers who would be disappointed)

And as far as I know people here have said that an iMac release would not happen along the new iPhone release event or iPad.

About to cross the great divide

Have seen Apple as an arrogant, self opinionated, expensive but nonetheless trendy business, and have previously actively steered away from anything Cupertino.

Call it or me what you will, I've had my epiphany and now want to see what I've been missing out on. Pivotal moment was the purchase of an iPad. A game changer in my eyes. Decision has been made, cash at the ready, but now Apple is, in my eyes stopping me doing what I want to do. I WANT AN UP TO DATE iMAC and I WANT IT NOW !

Windows 8 looming, Google Chrome taking share, new ultrabooks abounding, and even I see, a Dell 27'' model that is a very good copy of the iMac, must all be factored in for potential newcomers to the Apple ecosystem to weigh up before taking the leap of faith.....The competition is getting healthier by the day

If this delay/secret squirrel approach to marketing goes on much longer, all that emotional switching will be to no avail.

If I was the iMac product manager/director, the lack of an up to date and competitive product would keep me awake at night.

Arrogance still a part of Cupertino DNA it would seem. Looking more and more misplaced every day

Ohh. Okay! :)
Sorry about that xD

I just hope, that the waiting time is worth it!
But maybe it isn't!?? :O

Can anybody tell the meaning of: Spec bump?

If they keep the chassis exactly the same, and they just introduce Ivy Bridge processor, a 2012 mobile GPU range, and USB 3, that would be a "spec bump". Even a standard SSD, if nothing changed externally, would be a "spec bump". You can call it a redesign instead of a spec bump if they have a new display technology (that may or may not be anti-glare and may or may not be Retina), if they reduce the "chin", etc.

August/September/October 2012 = New iMac's

Where's that damn downvote button.

Oh, thanks man!

I guess I'm starting to realise that I could probably cope with a pc. The only things putting me off are that, with a built pc I' have no support if something goes wrong. Also I'm just more used to mac OSX and I reckon having to worry about viruses might start getting to me

Dont believe the hype.

They (viruses, worms, etc) are becoming more equal opportunity as more people start to own macs. In any case, MS makes a phenomenal FREE antivirus (MSSE). All you really need to know is that you shouldnt open strange attachments in emails and stay away from shady shareware of unknown origin, and you should be fine.

You always hear of granny with a virus, who also happens to be the same person who habitually shares and opens all kinds of chain fake-fact emails.

But main desktop?
They could say new iMac comin in July.
What is the big prob?

This way you are fair to your loyal customers, they can do their math if they want to buy now or not.
If someone will buy an iMac now, just to find out that in two weeks a new one is coming.....
at that moment ,boom, apple lost another fan.

I actually have a close friend who had this happen to him by Apple. It was his first and only Apple product, and I can completely understand how that would be very irritating. Now he refuses to buy Apple products because of their methods.

In the case of the new iMac I'm waiting for, buying 2011 technology at full 2012 price is ridiculous and wrong.

Is this why the count of OS X viruses in circulation remains zero? Despite the clickwhore security software "consultant" sites reporting malware phishing scams and java exploits as "viruses"? I'm sure that figure is primed to shoot right up though.

Hard to Say where & when Apple will be with it new IMAC. Hopefully Cook realizes that there is a big following for this machine and that state-of the art is key to success.

They went too far trying to unify iOS and OS X this year. Some of the hardware guys got carried away and created an unholy union of the iMac and the iPad. They'll release it as soon as they can settle on a name. Right now the two main contenders are the iMad (fitting, based on current user base sentiment) and the iPac (difficult to hold due to it's circular shape with the wedge cut out).

I live in a mixed computer environment at home, love my Mac but I do have a cheap PC still running XP Pro. For years I ran AVG but then a few months back it started playing up and turned out to be a Trogan affecting AVG. Removed it, cleaned up the PC and put on the MS security and so fare it's been good.

I keep my G5 up-to-date from Apple with security and will be moving to Mountain Lion and a new iMac soon.

Maybe a stupid question, but; do we even know, that their will be a new iMac?

@zai-huei Lol this guy. How we know? Leaked bentchmarks the fact that it's over due for an update apple updates their computer every year with latest intel processors which the iMac hasn't gotten. Many other suggestions. You need to start reading into news before your start posting my friend

Wow, you not a nice guy/girl? o_O

Well, because bentchmarks show people some graph over the CPU etc., and says: This, is the new iMac 2012!
That doesn't make it true?
Have apple said: There will be a iMac 2012!!

Please be a nice person :)

After the WWDC when the mac pro got its rather pitiful update and people complained didnt Cook say that desktop fans would hear something soon, when he mentioned something about mac pros in 2013?

By this, does it mean that new iMacs definitely are confirmed or was he only speaking about mac pros?

He only said that new Mac Pros are coming in 2013. He never mentioned the iMacs.

The more I think about this theme, apple could wait a couple of weeks after the ML release:
When ML shows to work fine, customers want to buy new imacs, either they waited for the new mac, either they migrate from Windows (or Linux) or their current imac has not enough performance to have the real fun with ML or is to old.

And when it is not coming ,ok - I migrated from Linux to mac, I can proceed to anything else.

according to this site it is just an interpretation of facts (not mention iMac to 2013 Mac Pro release, long product cycle)
