Would be nice of Apple to actually make enough iPhones to meet launch demand for once.

But that would hurt their illusion of scarcity, so...
Right because Apple's not really interested in selling iPhones they're just interested in people thinking demand is high. Because if it's not available people won't buy something else they'll just sit around and wait until it is available. And Apple can totally count on that.

Haven't you learned by now that Apple would rather sell fewer products, but at higher margins?

We know the looks of every future iPhone though. Can't remember the last time i was surprised...
In the past, Apple has finalized the design as late as July. As of now we know that the iPhone 7 (if that is its name) will either have a protruding camera or it won't. We've narrowed that aspect down to two choices, so I'm pretty sure you won't be surprised if they go with one of those!

Could be a mix of the PR department and economist working at Apple trying to fabricate excitement. For what I do with my iPhone 6s, Apple better come with something like free money maker for you or free data plans.

I think the shock of market saturation is just not reaching some people at the company. Apple, if you want to get people to upgrade, and I mean really upgrade from a more than good enough 6s and iPhone 6 (2014), you would need to do this:

- Equal features and functions between iPhone 7 and 7 Plus - no compromise, so OIS, Dual Camera, memory, A CPU.
- 64 GB storage on cheapest model
- Price drop of $100
- 15 GBs of iCloud storage for free
- 3 months of free Apple Music
- Half off on a new bumper
- Trade in deal for iPhone 6s, so I could send in my 6s 64 GB and get half on a iPhone 7 64 GB
- Keep the head phone jack - you need it especially when you are in a library or doctors office
- Expanded use of 3D Touch, then again, this should not be limited to iPhone 7

If that's the iphone 7, and there isnt some unexpected feature, apple isnt going to sell as many as they expect.

People want oled
People want a new design
People want new features never seen before

people dont want an iphone 6ss

I will bet everything i have that 64gb will not be the base model. You guys have to understand that the majority of iphone users dont use 32gb of memory. they use 16.

The more I see off this 'iPhone 7' the more underwhelmed I am. They're about to release the same phone for the 3rd year running. I'm holding on to my 6 Plus in the hope Apple actually bother making something new in 2017. Tim Cook is running the company too safely and Apple is losing its edge.

I keep thinking that too, but i know it will never be possible....,.. The more products you make, the more people buy them. And since Apple will never make a "bad" product today,,, that's the only hope.

How anyone is excited or surprised by new phone releases these days eludes me.
We already know it will be in the shape of a rectangle, and have a black looking glass on one side where the screen is, and have some colored metal on the back side.

Bottom line, NO 'new' phone design should be all that exciting to us - they are basically all subtle iterations of the same thing.

Back when these full-screen-on-one-side smartphones were a new concept (2007 - 2009 or so) I got exicted too. Now, its just another new phone, which is fine. But some people keep acting like the excitement of 2008 is still there.

But wait, its going to be a full millemeter thinner!!! Thats a game changer! Dont you see?!?

Analysts keep forgetting about the iPhone Upgrade Program. Since signing up, I am a guaranteed upgrade every year and with this being the first new phone since its inception, demand will be very high.
I'm in with you on the upgrade program. All my accessories fit the 6s so the 7 is going to look pretty attractive to upgrade to if the form factor remains the same. And if the camera does what the rumors say it does - it'll be hard not to consider it.

Form factor might be an interesting new selling point. I was able to sell my old iPhone 5/5s proclip car mount on eBay most likely because the SE retained the form factor.

They can order all they like... I won't be buying one!
Yeap....
I still have an iPhone 5 and still working just fine. The problem is the crapy software like Youtube that never connects or iTunes that is a miserable crap to transfer songs and deleting from the iPhone. Those same issues will be there no matter what iPhone I have. At the end all I see is they offering a bigger screen and a better camera which I do not care.

I hope half ot these, ends up in some warehouse. Start innovating Apple, logo on the back won't cut it much longer!

Smart Phones have matured in recent years. I don't know what kind of innovation you are expecting. Regardless of what Apple does the response is either "Meh" or "X brand had this feature for years now".

Since signing up, I am a guaranteed upgrade every year and with this being the first new phone since its inception, demand will be very high. Why not take the newest phone when my monthly charge will remain identical and the only difference in cost to me is a one time charge of tax on the phone?

Rumour is that 250,000 phones were sold under the plan.....not exactly enough to move the needle.

dat backside design tho... so bland. i hope its not the real deal. take some risks apple, do some exciting design! look at the google/huawei nexus 6p, thats a cool design.

I'm kind of loving the absolute mystery of this year's iPhone.
yes this year its the first when at this late date in May we still have major rumours very different one from each while i know back in february 2014 we already saw the design of iphone 6

I'm excited by new features more than by design choices. New features may also elude you, but I look forward to being able to do things better, faster, more conveniently, etc.

Since the next iPhone is rumored to have one feature I'm genuinely interested in (the dual camera) I'm excited to see its release. And no amount of disinterest from others can take away that excitement.

So...not a fact?

I'm not sure why the analyst say weak demand. I always upgrade (and hand-me-down the old phone) when the iPhone camera is upgraded. I couldn't care less about absolute thinness, LTE bands, weight or the newest color. It just needs to fit in my pocket without the "I'm glad to see you" look.

It would be funny if Apple was intentionally leaking a bunch of different parts this year to confuse us, and then in September drop something completely new and incredible looking. Probably wishful thinking, but things have been kinda all over the place lately. Apple has never kept the same design for three years, unless you count the iPhone SE (and even that skipped a year). The new design would be somewhat different, but wouldn't stand out as much as past changes.

I would say the 4s to 5 leap was not that great. I think it's fair to say the 4 body design was used for four years
