I saw that story too and I think you are right; Samsung will probably not get slammed too much.

Apple is the "high flying” company and their often arrogant attitude does not help them. I am not saying Apple has not earned the right to be arrogant, it’s hard to argue with Apple's success and amazing innovations (plural because they have had many amazing innovations). But in some ways success has gone to Apple's head and it comes across many times as a "we are smarter than everyone else" attitude. I remember Apple’s MobileMe launch where their top executives just lambasted Microsoft’s hosted services and Exchange Server, MobileMe was a complete fiasco.

To me the trick is to build an incredibly successful and innovative company while keeping the company attitude in check. This does not mean a company can't be proud of their accomplishments, but I think the Apple “attitude” paints a bull’s-eye on their back and the haters are just waiting for anything to pounce. A little dose of humility can be good for the soul and company culture, plus it keeps people on their toes.

Seems most companies are not immune in doing that. LG tweeting about Apples iPhone bend which was ironically sent from an iPhone among many others. Of course Microsofts Steve Ballmer saying no one would buy the iphone as it has no keyboard and was too expensive. We know how that turned out.

It is an easy trap to fall into, human nature and such.

Are you looking for a company spending an insane amount of money advertising their products? Google about Samsung.... It's a Korean company, just in case you didn't know.
Apple isn't spending so much money. They don't really need it.

Actually Apple spending on advertising is close to Samsung...Herr is the Macrumors report:
https://www.macrumors.com/2014/04/08/apple-samsung-advertising/

i think the point a lot of the rabid apple fans are not understanding or don't want to admit is its not a question that the phone can bend given enough force; its that over the course of time from normal use i.e. carrying it in your pocket the phone will warp a bit. the 7up youtube guys vid is a perfect example of that.

There is very little evidence of the new iPhones bending from "normal use". If you are prone to be a little hard on your electronics just buy a good case or if you want to not use a case just don't sit on it.

Of course Microsofts Steve Ballmer saying no one would buy the iphone as it has no keyboard and was too expensive. We know how that turned out.

He was half right.

At $599, it _was_ too expensive for the American mass market.

It only took two months for Apple to realize the same thing, and drop the price by a third... then go with subsidies the next year to get it even lower priced up front.

The only thing I can remember about Balmer is those big sweaty underarms. :D

Pure speculation on your part and also unsupported by the facts. Nowhere in the article does the manager speak about the reading the web article. And this is a WEB article not some national or local paper. Latiolais never even spoke to the manager, just to some "geniuses".

Okay, now you're just being purposefully obtuse after being backed into a corner. There's no point in continuing the discussion. The facts speak for themselves.

Ha! True.

As for me, I'm still mad at Gates and him killing the Courier Tablet project !

Not to mention dumping Windows Mobile / CE. Microsoft owned the handheld field device OS market, and threw it away.

And I'm not even an MS fan. Quite the contrary for many years, in fact. But they had some really good ideas that they didn't follow through on.

I wish Apple would spend just one year obsessing over making their phones more durable instead of thinner. I don't really even care about this bending controversy. I'm talking about the glass display. I know that if Apple poured a big amount of R&D into durability, they could make the phones far less crack-able.

As it stands, my iPad cracked after I dropped my iPhone on to it from a height of less than four inches. I wish they could come up with some technology to either make this less likely or make the repair so simple that you can do it at home for $30.

Because as it stands, having to pay $250 to replace a $3 glass panel? That's BEYOND ridiculous.

just guessing but i imagine apple relies on aftermarket products to quiet most people who absolutely demand higher durability at the expense of style.

They do need to find more resilient materials to make these devices out of. But I have a feeling it's their way of making sure your phone doesn't last too long so that you'll have to buy another. There need to be laws prohibiting planned obsolescence and mandating that all products be made as durable as technology allows. But in a capitalist country this is not likely to happen.

Yeah, Apple have only sold millions and millions of the iPhone 6 in record time. Yup, that sounds like many people have no faith in the iPhone 6. Do you even think about what you say before you say it? Curious minds want to know.

Still nothing in the major news outlets about the iPhone 6 colossal failure. Hmm. Maybe, just maybe there's nothing there... or maybe there is. I'm still waiting to see for sure.

They don't. They are all scared of bendghazi.

----------

Oddly enough, I'm an Apple guy and I wonder the same thing. My iPhone 6 so far has been fine, excellent in fact. I always wonder how any new mobile device will hold up over time. So far my Apple devices have held up very well. My old iPhone 4, 4s and 5 are still in service and being used daily.

This particular phone so very thin, admittedly I'm watching this one more closely. I'm not blind and I happen to feel that Apple messes up from time to time. If this phone does not stand the rigours of day to day life then Apple will hear about it and I'll have them replace it... because you know, that's how this works.

That said, I'm not about to jump to conclusions and run around like my hair is on fire screaming that the sky if falling. I'm willing to take a breath and see how this pans out.

The reality is it's too soon to say right now. Based on what I am seeing with my phone I have no reason to think that it won't withstand day to day use.

This one is very thin admittedly. You have experience of previous iPhones. You only subject your to normal use.
All your admissions.

So why are you watching it closely?

This is about competitions panic nothing else

The undignified tactics of the competition and their paid army of bashers are still on a roll. wow

Lol..

There is absolutely ..and i repeat absolutely nothing wrong with either iPhone 6 or 6 +

They are perfectly strong for a SANE individual.. And meet all strength requirements and then some !

FACTS:
-iPhone 6 and 6+ have been awarded best in class and least likely to break phones by independent agencies. FACT!!!
-Consumer reports has varified that the bending issue is bogus!
-The Canadian idiots video ( who out of the goodness of his heart has blown 4000+ dollors in 48 hours to bend phones ..lol) has been proven to be fake and doctored.
(And ya he spent that money out of his pocket.. Lol)
-Apple has exposed their testing to the media and it is an incredible exhaustive process of testing !
-Competition has been left in the dust by the new iphone design.
-Best in class, thinnest, lighthes true 64 bit processor and os .. Leaps and bounds ahead of competition.

It is the competition spreading disinformation and fud! The same disgraceful competition that copied the iPhone and the iOS .

Now they are scared .. Really scared of the tremendous positive response to the new iphones..
They can't compete so they are spreading Fud.. Absolutely pathetic.
( another funny fact!... All those competition's PR people who immediately jumped on the bandwagon to degrade and mock apple through tweets... Were tweeting from iphones ... Lol)

All of you who are victims of these trolls... Please do yourself a favor and go to an apple store and see it for yourself !

A Phone only needs to be as strong as a phone needs to be.. Overkill is a waste.
Or why dont we make phones out of concrete and steel.. Hey it will take even more load to bend them.. And they will be cheaper !

Bs has limits
Being undignified is being pushed to newer lows...
There are so many things wrong with the claims if the completion that it is ridiculous .they have created a bogus story and are pushing it into publics mind as reality ....

Given all the above ... Some of you are still falling for the Fud spread by the lowlife competition.
Dont be so naive and dont feed the evil approach of the lowlives .

Again do yourselves a favor and go to an apple store!
The truth is there for u to see.. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the new iPhones.. Nothing !!! .
The rest is bull fabricated by the competition out of fear !

Ps .. Dont u wonder why there is so much passionate hate for apple on this thread? Have asked yourself why? And who is fueling it?
Its so obvious ...and those who fall for it are empowering the undignified ! And u know who they are!

Drivel. Virtually all of it.

This is where our perceptions differ. Not saying you are wrong, just that I have a different belief when it comes to "Quality/Premium = stronger/more durable". In some cases, yes. but only if it's intent is to be so. For example. If I buy a premium pair of work boots, I fully expect them to outlast a pair purchased at a bargain store. If not then I would consider them a failure. And again, back to my Shoes analogy, I have owned what I consider "Premium" leather shoes made from soft leathers (calf skin, deer etc.) and I've also owned basic "NON premium" every day leather shoes... some even with rubber bottoms. Guess which have been more durable?

So I don't automatically equate "premium" with "durability" in every scenario. Durability is not the premium in Apple's phones. Maybe it is in others, but not Apple. Just as I'm sure "Customer Experience" is not the premium in some other manufacturers.

You know what’s odd about that is one of the first things that people tell you about Apple devices is how they last longer than the competition.
In reality :
They are just as, and often more fragile than the others.
Apple build in the obsolescence in the software.

As for what you consider to be premium shoes you didn’t tell us what they were so I can’t comment.

----------

Lol... Take a hike and go collect your pay ....

Where to and where from please?
Now let’s just start with what you posted in the section you labelled FACTS, (which really means your version of them):
-iPhone 6 and 6+ have been awarded best in class and least likely to break phones by independent agencies. FACT!!!

Consumer Reports, (I hope this fits the description, "independent agency"), found the iPhone 6 to be one of the weakest of the phones tested recently. You have equated this with ……….least likely to break.
Just to cover the other ridiculous angles you’re about to come with.
If this phone bends and it isn’t supposed to it’s damaged. You may not notice it at first but it is. You may say Oh, but I bent it back and it’s fine. Great it’s straight now but you’ve bent it and stressed it twice. Even worse.
You have a broken phone that while it will still make calls and browse the interweb and you’ve masked/ignored the damage.

You also said, “Best in class, thinnest, lighthes true 64 bit processor and os .. Leaps and bounds ahead of competition.”. Really?

I say again, virtually everything between the first and last word you posted is drivel.

I am with you 100%, I wish Apple would perfect a new case technology. Look at the commercial aircraft industry, for roughly 90 years aluminum has been the primary material used in aircraft design. Now we are finally seeing large scale carbon fiber composite aircraft like the new Boeing 787. It's probably just a matter of time until we see these kinds of 21st century materials in iPhone cases.

Im going to CLUE you folks in on something, ......... what Apple and Consumer reports SINGLE PRESSURE POINT testing DOES not, CANNOT TEST for................

Multiple pressure point >>>SHEARING FORCE <<<

The VERY SAME SHEARING FORCES found in multiple stress points from POCKET CARRY

Shearing forces are unaligned forces pushing one part of a body in one direction, and another part of the body in the opposite direction. When the forces are aligned into each other, they are called compression forces. An example is a deck of cards being pushed one way on the top, and the other at the bottom, causing the cards to slide. Another example is when wind blows at the side of a peaked roof of a home - the side walls experience a force at their top pushing in the direction of the wind, and their bottom in the opposite direction, from the ground or foundation. William A. Nash defines shear force in terms of planes: "If a plane is passed through a body, a force acting along this plane is called a shear force or shearing force."

“It’s not about how much force must be applied and if a pocket will do the trick or not. It’s just that under a particular type of flexing, the phone is prone to bend mainly because a metal insert meant to reinforce instead spins in an axis too close to the critical point. If they were further apart allowing better support to counter the flexing and not [spinning], it would make it more resistant.”

Face it, if you own an Iphone 6 Plus, you're an unofficial BETA TESTER

Ill buy one when its FIXED.

WISE people always wait for other peeps to BETA TEST new devices. This is rather timeless

Design flaw 2.......

This should have been ONE reinforcement bar, rather its many, and each BREAK in the reinforcement bar acts like a stress break, a fulcrum to bend at.

the holes are reinforced CORRECTLY with bars.....but BETWEEN the bars should have been either

1. MORE bars. or a continuous drilled bar for each chassis stud.
2. THICKER aluminum just like the reinforcement chassis studs are

One can only assume this was given the go ahead due to COST or WEIGHT considerations.

They are still buzzing from the sugar in the Kool Aid. Once their blood is diluted this time next year and the aluminium starts to stress, they’ll be back here saying that a phone isn’t supposed to last more than that because that’s how long thier contracts are.
