I would like to see a video of people placing a new phone in their loose front pocket then

a) sitting
b) kneeling

then take it out and show if it's bent.

If it deforms it proves it's possible.
If it doesn't bend it proves that with that single movement it's impossible.

Do we really need to do the experiment? No. I think we all know that the phone will not bend like this!

It's fairly obvious that it is possible to bend the phone, but you need to apply a good amount of force. So to say "it bent while I sat down - it was in a loose front pocket" seems disingenuous. We know, one way or another, a good amount of force must have been applied to the phone for it to bend.

We also know that when people break things they will often tend to blame someone else. What little kid hasn't tried the "I didn't do anything, honest, it just broke by itself" routine?

As for the guy that walks into a piazza and snaps a phone deliberately and says "am I the incredible hulk?". Er, no, but you're a healthy adult male, in the prime of your life, who can easily snap a phone! If I gave you my Mac Book Air, I'm sure you could snap the lid off without much problem by bending it backwards. I haven't tried though. Why would I?
So what richardsonrs from this thread says about his phone is not true?

Bendgate is FAR from closed, oh my God that was too easy to bend. I had hope when I saw this article but dang, nope, after this video I lost that hope. Sigh..

No one is watching this video, no one is discussing it, you guys are all just as bad as android fans. Blind consumerism.

The hood on an exotic sports car made of the same material as an iPhone will bend more than the hood on a Chevy truck if I stand on it. Which is the better product? It will depend on what you value. What I do find is the Apple haters live on macrumors as proven by the likes for your post.

I think whether you love Apple or hate them is not the issue.

Whatever your allegiance, the last week has not been to coin a phrase Apples finest hour. Only someone in complete denial would argue otherwise.

Whatever the reasons are for that happening it does need to be addressed. Once can be considered an accident, twice is just carelessness. Mud sticks and the opposition will seize on it with glee.

If you put yourself out there as the King then everyone is just waiting for the crown to slip.

If you mean the iOS 8.0.1 issue, yes I agree with you. But bendgate was not Apple's doing. It's just the opposition doing what they usually do. So it has been only one incident, not two.

I had the iPhone 6 in hands and my fear comes true: It's too large! It doesn't fit in my shirt pockets where I'm carrying my iPhones since seven years or so. So the iPhone 6 will be the first iPhone in the two-years-contract-rhythm where I'll pass (had – and still have for memories – iPhone 3G, 4, and will stay with iPhone 5 for the time being). It's not a matter of money.

Please, Apple, make an iPhone with the max. sizes of iPhone 4. And no, I never used a wrist watch in my life (although I have a job where it's crucial to be in time), and I'll never use one in future. It's kind of a handcuff for me.

I'm a bit sad and looking forward to a larger iPad. I had all iPads before and a larger one will be handy at home.

That list is a farce!!

How can you add to the list the phones that Lewis from Unbox Therapy bent on purpose and there are loads of doubts about the original integrity of the actual phone

And also how can you add to that list phones that people go and bend on purpose in Apple stores!

Get a life Fandroid!!

No!

He's lying on the way he bent the phone.

Proven by simple physics:

So he did not bend the phone accidentally in his front pocket as he says in the video?

Hahaha you can't be serious. Maybe he should provide his birth certificate and prove he's not a Korean spy too. :D

Perhaps Korean tech spies don't need to be Korean of origin? There are plenty on this forum they could potentiality recruit from American and European backgrounds if you plough through the responses.

Calculating using physics it would be impossible to replicate the same bend he has if his phone was so deep in his pocket.

His phone would have to be protruding out of his pocket to create some kind of leverage.

As I said before try bending a phone in one point by putting the phone between two books and pressing on both books Very hard if not impossible.

That's what's happening I his pocket.
On one side the phone supported by his leg and on the other side the material from his pants.

LOL, you can see that consumer made sure they place the weight on the part where it wouldn't easily bend. hahahah FAKE!

Wonder how much Apple paid CONsumer Report.

The opposite my friend.

CR place the load in the middle on all phones.

If they were to put the load on the iPhone's weak point they would have to do the same and place the load on all phones weak point.

They would all fail same way.

There's no phone without weak points

If you don't want to understand just shows how dumb u must be

Don't you just love it?

When CR criticise Apple and don't recomend their product, they are tellin the truth!

But when they they don't, and they recomend Apple products, they are paid by apple!!

On the side note: Is there really nothin ng interesting going on on Android orientated forums that all fandro-trolls have moved to MacRumors?

16??

2 bent in Apple stores by people on purpose
1 bent by Unbox Therapy on purpose

13....how many of them are Smugsung employees??

1 of them I already caught him lying by simply calculating the physics. Yeah the guy with the video squatting with phone in his pants

Apple should really consider giving you free stuff. That or taking that weed away from you.

You mad bro? Calling people names now are we?

Worse than claiming CR paid by Apple

Careful u don't get prosecuted...

False claims, no proof of what you saying.

That sounds like a libel case....

There was the Note 4 but it's so boring it was released last Friday almost unnoticed

We are really seeing some here go off into a total work of fantasy.

Honestly it's worse than going into a church on a Sunday and telling them there is no god!

So we're now off into some fairy tale where we have Samsung Bending iPhones, People who are bending phones on Samsung's payroll.
Samsung probably even being accused or manufacturing fake weak iPhone copies for people to bend on camera.

I really worry for some people you know, how their mind dreams up fantasies as opposed to the reality of some metal and basic engineering principals.

Consumer Reports: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Not as Bendable as Believed

Unfortunately not, as I don't go bending phones, unlike this guy:

Seriously?

Phones in Apple stores are bing bent by.....well on their own....

Either that or Apple employees must be so terrible they put bent iPhones on display

You're telling me I'm fantasying but you find it perfectly normal there's a website that counts the 9 phones that have been bent?

You don't find it at all odd someone went to the trouble of creating a domain and taking the time to getting all bent iPhones out of 10M sold?

if this is not an orchestrated campaign then I don't know what it is.

Have we all go mad?

Oh no...

I'm happy to accept some people/kids are running into a few Apple stores and, after seeing bending video's seeing if it's true and trying to bend one.

In actual fact, and I know this is not fair. If you were going to put down say 800 dollars on a device, and you had heard there was a issue, and you saw a display model, I would not be surprised if someone thought they would test out the story on the display model, before deciding to buy one.

Not fair on Apple perhaps, but people do use display models to test out things on before deciding.

Show me where the LG G3 snapped back in to place. That frame looks cracked to me.

Image

The frame of the G3 is quite prone to crack, and there are several complains on the issue, especially near the usb port, where it is more stressed by daily use.
Still I don't see any Holy Crusade like this on the web our media. Do you know why? Because they aren't Apple.

----------

Don't most people weigh over 100lbs? So if the issue are morons who put their phones in their back pockets, their weight will be over 100lbs, thus the bending.

Sure, so blame those morons for that, because if you deliberately sit on a flat piece of glass and aluminum, the problem is definitely you, not the phone.

You're knowingly sitting on a 6,9mm thin piece of glass and aluminium..

Who's the moron? The phone or the person?

Would you sit on your iPad?

Would you sit on a baby?

Would you sit on a cactus?
