So you truly believe phones are being bent by just holding them in your hand and using them? 9 people have reported this to Apple and you have this intimate knowledge about what happened?

No, they are being bent by putting them into/out of pockets and purses, from walking around in pockets, whatever constitutes normal use. Obviously they are not bending so dramatically, but even a little bend is unacceptable for what many people here call a premium product. Even the WIRED review reported bending.

http://www.wired.com/2014/09/iphone-6-plus-review/

He used it exactly as how Apple depicts their products to be used in their commercials.

You're not still jabbering on about "bending iPhones"... surely?

Wow... the net is an obsessive's nightmare - way too many people to bounce off and work into a frenzy.

Guys, drop it - this is lame.

I know a man who can dispose of your (supposedly) bent phones, to shut you all up:

YouTube: video

From bender to blender; the difference between annoying, tedious and overblown and hilarious... is just the "L"

Andorid L...case solved...well not...bent

Makes me think of those little plastic film fortune telling fish that curl up in your hand and give an insight into your personality (apparently)

How is the issue closed? The iPhone 6 is half as strong as the iPhone 5 and Note 3, which means it's twice as much likely to be bended.

Becuse iPhone 6 is much thinner and lighter than those others. If u need a brute force toy, the iPhone 6 is not for you

Unless YOU own one, and it happens to you, your going to deny any evidence. As you said, you doing believe everything your read on the internet.

I have another week in my 14 day return period, and I am very carefully checking how it is holding up.

Consumer reports seems credible enough. I know a few folks with pluses and regular 6s and they have not experienced the bending issue. They also don''t make money by generating traffic on their website either. js

So you'll believe Apple has only 9 reports and that this is overblown because of CR, but you won't believe evidence from real people....? Ok... Guess we won't be having a discussion. Moving along.

Notice how you didn't answer the question if YOU were experiencing this problem? Sounds like you jumped aboard the #BENDGATE wagon with no actual evidence on your own. Yep, moving along!

They don't make them like they used to! :p

Apple just needs to make the case bigger and use heavy duty plastic.

Fair enough, lets say one side is doing this to get ad revenue from traffic. Why are the Apologists doing it? They are investing a lot of time defending a product, a lot of them do not even own yet. The Iphone 6 plus is in very short supply.

So maybe both sides are talking BS?

As for Consumer Reports.... is that the same consumer reports that everyone on MR was slamming and calling BS during the Antennagate? They must have really changed..... oww wait, this time the findings were positive towards Apple ;)

Nice work, though you do realise Nokia's and BB do not run Android???

I do, but its the Fandriods making the most noise so I singled them out.

The point I'm trying to make is that while the 6+ is more fragile than some of its competitors, it not alone in bending. I believe apple should be held accountable for any design errors they've made, but within reason. This whole thing is just out of control and IMO blown way out of proportion by internet trolls and a gullible public that's addicted to negative news. The antenna problem with the 4, which effected way more people than this has effected, didn't build to near these proportions. CR even refused to recommend the 4 till Apple addressed the issue.

Sorry if I'm stating the obvious here man.

Please don't say "everyone" I accepted consumer reports views on the iphone 4 problems. I also accept their testing now because 3 point stress tests are a standard scientific test that stop buildings falling on your head every day.

You can think what you want but dont speak for everyone please.

You are right. There are some very rational and logical people on MR.

Very well put. I agree with you summary. I have another week to use my iphone 6 plus and decide for myself.

Kind of. doesn't seem like they broke down how much force and at what points would occur from 'normal use' like say if someone had it in a back pocket and sat on it, front pocket etc.

That isn't repeatable and therefore not very scientific. Who do they use as a model, how much does (s)he weigh, what brand of jeans, what size, what cut, what kind of chair, what muscular build, where in pocket is phone, etc., etc., etc. Far too many variables and hence the reason people are so confused about this. The phone can bend, yes, but under certain circumstances they really are applying a great deal of force to the phone. People are too focused on the black / white will it bend or not.

I already had doubts, but this new guarantee policy is the nail in the coffin. I won't buy a 6Plus unless this issue is resolved. Looks like Apple recently decided that Bending under normale use is impossible and starts to charge everyone with a bent phone 379$ or 79$ with Apple Care: http://imgur.com/gallery/CSSfH

Appe Care Support Senior Advisor: "... Our engineers have researched and inspected many devices and have come to the conclusion that a bend to the iPhone 6 Plus is not eligible for replacement under standard 1 year warranty. The iPhone did not encounter the bend on its own. So this is why we only have the option to replace it for 79$."

This even contradicts Phil Schillers interview with the verge: ""As we expected, it's extremely rare to happen in real world use," Schiller tells The Verge. "In this case, as in many things, we tell customers that if you think something's occurred that shouldn't have with your device, go to AppleCare, go to the Genius Bar, and let them take a look at it. And we'll see if your product is having an experience it shouldn't have, and is covered under warranty."

The sheer stupidity of folks on here and in the world in general saddens me. It's like people have have devolved into mindless drones that need to be pampered constantly.

An aluminum phone that is thin will bend if you attempt to bend or sit on it. This is not specific to Apple. This is common sense. Basic stuff learned in elementary school. Do you buy a $600+ and sit on it? Do you not take care of your valuables?

One time I left a fairly new plastic smart phone on my car dashboard during the hot summer. It's cracked with a long run across it. When I saw it, I didn't hop online and make a video to blame the manufacturer. I blamed myself for being careless. I dealt with with and moved on.

That's called being an adult.

I can't speak for the so called apologists but I think it's a major distraction for Apple and ultimately hurts the consumer. Since a few rotten Apples with the loudest voice this will now force Apple to take time away from other more important things to address an issue that is overblown. Then again, I'm not planning on buying a 6s so maybe its a moot point. They will probably give out free cases or something.

Not surprising. Scratch your screen, then bend your phone to get a free new one on Apple? Too easy to abuse.

I think Apple will quietly retool at some point to fix the defect. Too bad for me, because I only have until 9-30 to trade in my 4S for $200. I guess I'll get a Carved case and hope for the best.

This is still going on?

The funniest thing about this is that it will have absolutely no affect on Apple or the users who buy the iPhone 6. All it does is make a few Apple haters happy for a short while before they get on with their pathetic lives waiting for the next thing to complain about.

And Apple will sell record numbers of devices while their users will continue to give them sky-high customer satisfaction grades while enjoying their new iPhone 6's.
