hard to take what they say seriously anymore in fairness.

In fairness, we need a cynic sometime to point out the things we may not want to hear about Apple products and they do that from time to time. I do reference their comparisons and reviews at times. Its just a matter if someone chooses to believe/agree what they post.

Timing is questionable when it's released right after Galaxy S9 announcement and the iPhone X has been out since Nov 2017. Did they touch upon the glaring iPhone camera issues such as slow autofocus, mono sound recording, etc.?

8 better than 8+... 7 better than 7+?

6S Plus better than the 7 Plus.

I actually agree with it and have tested it. I actually returned my 7 Plus and went back to the 6S Plus because of how bad the 7 Plus managed certain images, including my kids.. it JACKED skin tones and had major watercolor issues.

Consumer Reports does a good job reviewing cars, power tools, household appliances.

But for reviews on cameras and hi-fi audio equipment, CR is in a bit over its head. For these items, go to sites that specialize in photography and high-end audio equipment.

that's a horrible/glaring missed on iPhones - they got plenty of horsepower to process stereo - hopefully this is something in their road map.

Just more CR click bait. There's more information at YOUR fingertips than CR could replicate even if they accepted advertising.

Seems to me like Consumer Reports is once again using Apple's name brand to get clicks / views as they try to remain relevant today.

They don't sell advertising. As such, clicks & views don't monetize unless someone buys a subscription from them. And they are giving away enough of this particular report for free to see where the iPhones rank vs. the other phones rated, so the "meat" of this particular info does NOT require anyone to spend a nickel.

As to "click bait," the point of click bait is to draw eyeballs to maximize ad revenue and/or sell something. We can imply that 1000 times in this thread- and probably will- but there is no typical point of "baiting" here. If we want to spin "click bait" we should be doing that with all of those other articles- including many pre-release "reviews"- that DO make much of their money on advertising and are thus highly motivated to stay on Apple's good side to get advanced peeks at Apple products to be among the very first with "reviews." Do we scrutinize that kind of press so very hard... even imply stuff with tags like "click bait" and similar? Of course not. Think!

The differences between these phone cameras are minimal.

I agree. I’m just an average smart phone camera enthusiast, however I think the major smart phone manfctaurers take excellent photo’s, and that includes Apple, Samsung and Google. It’s close in camera quality in comparison with smart phones today.

iphone 8 ahead of 8 plus? 7 is four spots ahead of 7 plus? pixel 2/xl didnt even make it when it should be top 2? This list is an insult to smartphone cameras...

I guess they haven’t taken any low light photos. The X takes awful low light photos and it has really ruined my experience with the phone. You either get red eyes or white eyes that are blurry. Apple should be ashamed.
