Right now I can think of a million things I can spend $1200 on. I used to be hyped for the Apple Watch but that hype is dying fast. Every day I wake up with less hype and I fear one of these days I'm just going to wake up and cancel the order (maybe ill find a cheap model when they're more available in June since that's how long I have to wait anyway!)

Plus, Apple's attitude toward this whole thing is very anti-consumer. So yeah, I'm a little salty.

If you can't wait for something that didn't exist previously then you never were ordering because you wanted it. You just wanted to be one of the cool kids to be among the first to have something new. I'd say go ahead and cancel if waiting a few weeks is too much stress for you.

One of the benefits of being forced to wait so long is that we get to see the issues and drawbacks from other users. It's a great way to determine whether or not to go through with it. Good luck in your choice, which ever way you decide.

Thank you. It seems like the drawbacks and issues are increasing steadily by the day... You would think Apple would want to make sure orders are shipped out as soon as possible before people start to cancel en masse.

That's the thing, I thought I could wait. But now all of these reports of the watch getting scratched easily and that the watch is useless is changing my mind. Plus a friend said it killed his iPhone battery which just sucks. I'm not stressed about it, I just think it sucks that so many people are getting their watch but the people spending the most (link bracelet & edition) have to wait until June. By that time anyone can just walk into the store and buy one. What's the point of being up at midnight to order? Smh

Apple messed up

this screams I need attention.
Cancel it and open it up for someone who really wants it

Cancel. Period.

Everybody wins in this circumstance.

That's how it works in a free market. If you don't like a company or product, don't give them your business. That's a far more reasonable response than the endless whining we hear everyday here.

I agree, you should cancel.

If your already upset about the product, I don't imagine you are going to enjoy it once you receive it. I suspect you will channel your frustration into finding issues.

I don't know that anyone should need to convince you to NOT cancel your order. If your already asking, then I think you know what you should do.

If it hasn't been made clear already, nobody really feels like "convincing you" not to buy the watch. If you're already being this way about it before you even have the thing, I would suggest you cancel your order. Having yet another person make yet another thread about returning the watch is so completely unnecessary.

The killer app for the Apple Watch, IF you bother spending some time learning how to use it, is that you don't spend nearly as much of your day staring at your iPhone like a zombie. It's always there if you need it, but you don't have to get it out for every little thing, therefore you spend a lot less time being distracted by it.

I wish I had a dollar for every time I have gotten my iPhone out to do one little thing (like check a simple notification), and then compulsively unlock it to check Twitter, play Words with Friends, read email, etc. Meanwhile, my kids are begging me to play with them and I keep pushing them off by saying "one more minute".

Smartphones and tablets have become a time suck and have made us all rude and inconsiderate. Apple Watch, if you set it up correctly, can go a long way toward alleviating that.

Well, in my case mine doesn't ship until at least the May 13. There are many things I'm critical of Apple over with this thing but my personal shipping date isn't one of them. Sure, it would've been nice to know choosing a different band would've resulted in a faster shipment but it is what it is.

I think you're right though, I'm guessing there are likely a lot of cancelling after learning about some of the issues.

Nobody NEEDS this watch. It's about WANT. I did not want this watch and did not see a need for it until I tried it on.

I have my phone in my purse (usually on vibrate) or on my nightstand when I'm at home. I can't tell you how many times I've missed messages. Now, my messages and calls go straight to my watch. Can't get any more convenient than that.

I'm female too, and I have the same problem with missed calls and messages you have. The Watch is useful to me. But only time will tell how useful it will remain.

My recommendation is the same I have given others: as this is a first generation product, I would NOT go and spend over $ 1000 on it, unless I was swimming in money. I bought the cheapest watch because I wanted to try it for a few months, a year, and if it becomes something that I won't want to miss, I will upgrade the next issue.

Hope this helps.

Exactly like my wife lol.. she misses most of my messages. It's my hope the watch will help with that. :p

Ask yourself this question...

Were you doing fine without the watch over a year ago? I was.

Do you have a burning desire to spend your hard earned money on a buggy, first gen Apple product with no track record?

Think about it... I do, and I returned the watch after seven careful days of intense evaluations.

For me, there wasn't any compelling reason to keep it ll

That's a lot of money!

This could be an option if you are unsure, by the looks of it you are buy a White SS sports band and see if it works for you if it does not return and refund if it does swap for the one you actually want. ##

I'm sorry but this sounds all too pathetic. Almost like some kid who can't get what he wants right now so he doesn't want it anymore.

It's a pretty fantastic piece of jewelry and tech. If you can't be patient then cancel the darn thing and move along with your life.

It's not that hard lol.

Thank you. This is exactly what I wanted to know. I'm not used to spending this much money on jewelry, and I wanted to make sure it's worth it.

Heh. It's frustrating. Apple advertised the wrong release date. If you can't see how they were misleading I'm afraid you're just too fanboy. But I agree with you on the second part.

I absolutely love mine, but having said that I wouldn't have spent $1200 on it.

I love it as a watch. I love the way it looks on my wrist. I love the taptic notifications. I love the activity tracker and the reminders to get up and move a bit every hour. I love being able to see any incoming messages without taking my hands off the keyboard, unless I want to stop and respond.

As for the drain on the iPhone battery, it did drain mine the first day, but after I rebooted both then it has no longer happened. I can end the day with over 50% battery on both.

Thank you Susan. This is also great feedback. I appreciate it.

Again, I'm asking what FEATURES from the watch make this stupid wait worth it?

OK, I will bite.

As for me personally, the biggest benefits so far:
  • My iPhone is almost always set to silent. As a result, I often miss calls and other important messages. I have configured Apple Watch to let only specific notifications to flow through. And since it's on my wrist with haptic feedback, I never miss a thing.
  • It is liberating not having to pull my iPhone out to see if I received anything new. iPhone just sits on my desk or inside the pocket most of the time, and I take it out only when I need or want to use it.
  • Not all notifications are important. I use it to triage incoming notifications. For instance, if I receive a text message, all I do is send a quick reply (e.g., yes/no, I will talk to you later, I am on my way, I will take care of it).
  • At home, my phone is usually not physically with me. And I sometimes cannot find it. Instead of using an iPad, my wife's phone, or Mac and fire up "Find My iPhone", I use Apple Watch's Settings glance, and tap Ping iPhone button to trigger my iPhone to ping on demand (much less annoying than "Find My iPhone" as it only pings once).
  • Checking time, upcoming event, and weather from the Watch face. It is surprising how often I need to do this on a given day.
  • Fitness tracking. I had two Fitbits before and I find Activity center and iPhone integration to be superior. And they always seem to be magically in sync.
  • Remote control, not only for Apple TV (which is actually far superior to Apple TV remote and iPhone app) but for controlling iPhone for music playback remotely.

Thank you Susan. This is also great feedback. I appreciate it.

by the way, I would also add that in looking at my steps in the Health app, I move much more than I did before I got the watch. I am not a very active person, so this change is great for me for many reasons. A cheaper fitness tracker with activity reminder (which they don't all have) could probably have done the same thing for me, but I don't like the way they look so I wouldn't have been inclined to wear it every day. Because I love the way this looks, and I also love watches (though I haven't worn one for the past few years), I wear it every day.

I also haven't noticed any scratches in the SS on my watch, though I have other SS watches and so expect that they will happen over time. I did buy Apple Care + on the watch, for first Apple product for which I have done that, because it is on my wrist and so more exposed to dings and such. So far, no dings, no visible scratches.

Wow. I didn't know the Remote worked to control the Music app. That's awesome. This whole list has convinced me that I'll wait and not cancel my order. I appreciate the assistance, everyone.

I love the fitness features of the watch. If I were to cancel my other order, I would have still bought a 42mm Space Grey Sport Band. I will get AppleCare since it's a good value.

i can't do that, i just cancelled my SBSS link bracelet 5 minutes ago. after having almost a month to think about it spending 1200+ bucks on a 1st gen watch is just too much. i had ordered a space gray with crappy sport band on the 24th in hopes that it would ship sooner than the one i had originally ordered but today decided that i wasn't going to spend that kind of cash on something that i was going to have to wait months for. i'm glad i had to wait in the end i think i will be just as happy with the space gray sport once i find a band that has a classic buckle fastener that i can replace the sport band with.

my advice do what i did, cancel the link and go with a sport and save $700.

Really? You want anonymous strangers to "convince" you how to spend your money? Seriously, do what you want. You have access to all the same information the rest of us do. Do with it what you will.

It's good, but not great. Useful, but not revolutionary.

The hype Apple has generated for the Watch since its announcement will have you believe otherwise.

I don't regret buying it, but the novelty wears off quite quickly.

Ultimately the Watch won't change your life, so if you can find better use of $1200 then do so.

Edit: I see you've already made a choice. This thread is now redundant.

Well, I have one, and I love it. I don't feel that it is my job to convince you of anything, though. If you can't say with certainty that you want the watch, then cancel.

I really don't get the waffling back and forth that I see all over this forum. There was never a doubt in my mind about whether or not I would get the watch. The worst struggle for me has been deciding which band to get first. (Ended up with Milanese, still waiting for Sport band).

I also don't get why so many people expected the watch to do everything but put away the laundry. Clearly a lot of people buying without really knowing what they are getting and why they should get it.

Okay. Again, I'm asking what FEATURES from the watch make this stupid wait worth it? I could care less about my spot in line, or if the watch will get scratched. What makes the Apple Watch worth it? Can anyone even answer this question?

If you don't currently see any value, definitely cancel. For me everything the watch does is a feature I am interested in.
