Brilliant! They probably just sit back in their chairs and laugh at us too (as the hit counter skyrockets).

Haha I think new MacBooks are coming! Best Buy removed one of the MacBooks off the list. They did the same thing in removing the MBP days before the MBP update. :D

yeah it worked. i never hard of slashdot. Thanks ;) . who care about core 2 MB anyway? other than people who don't want to buy old tech. It will not be anything very new. a little more battery life, fractions of seconds saved. There will be no dedicated graphics card, for there will be the GMA 965 in a matter of months. Most people (aside form us mac nerds) don't even know the difference between core and core 2 ( as if there was a big difference). The current mac book probbably runs better then the most recent power book. If you are waiting for core 2 because you want a new GPU it wont happen till santarosa platform is released. Mb is consumer level right, but consumers, not pros, play games. So why not put at least a 128 in there? that will bring in the wowers and the ffers, though i would just save up for a MBP.

So yes there will be new core 2 MB, will they matter? not really. It seems that people are just wanting 64 bit so they can run leopard. no point in buying a machine that will not be running new software at full strength.

LOL all thos people who bought " vista capable " are going to have very old computers by the time they are capable of buying vista. it kinda seems like vista is just a buzz word to make people buy computers that dont suck.

anything less than a mac is just uncivilized :D

At my university, the macbooks are now backordered for the first time -- as of today, November 3. :)

Um...it will be running the OS at full strength because Leopard will be both 64 and 32-bit. So it doesn't really matter if you own the 64-bit Core 2 Duo MacBook. People just need to get over themselves and buy the computer now when they need it. No sense in waiting. If you know for sure that the update is tomorrow, fine, wait, but no one does. Just buy the damn thing.

I'm interested to see what apple does with regards to the RAM support as well. I'm disappointed just a bit that the macbook pro can hold 2x2GB sticks and only accept 3GB out of it, but thats a great deal more memory than the previous model. hopefully the new macbooks see a jump in that department as well. as it is though, the macbook is a fantastic machine, even moreso to me than the pro because i can swap the HDD with practically no disassembly. it would be a pleasant suprise to see a new and improved integrated graphics chipset..but its not likely, and indeed unnecessary. macbooks arent gaming machines anyway.

I just got word C2D macbooks are coming out tomorrow. have all checkbooks and credit cards handy!

Wish I had waited

I think its almost unfair to those of us who were more enthusiastic about the switch and preordered the Mac Book Pro only to have it so upgraded as to make it less powerful then the macbook just 11 months later. I feel like mine is already 'low-end.'

It's bogus

if it had been real, with a real date and specs, Apple legal would have had them yank the page by now. So, the MBCD2 is coming, but the info from that site isn't correct.

Am I missing something? Isn't the 13th of November a Monday? i was under the impression that most big apple updates come on Tuesday

btw i'm REALLY hoping they release a silver/aluminum macbook. that would be the sweetest

Ok then ...

Some ONE said !!!! no difference between CD MB and C2D MB, well for me if it's running a litle cooler so u could work comfortably that's a great thing, if it have more ram for the same price, and goes a litle faster, what is the point buyin now ????!!!! ???? LMAO ???? :D
AND by the way who wants to buy tech that didn't change of price for the last six month !!! ???? None of us ... I guess ..... at least u like being ripped off ... !!!! lol

So let the waiting continue .... and apple will release a new MB cuz that is what they sell the most ... Not MBP that cost 1999 minimum

So give me a break !!!! a Kit Kat Break .... !!!

CHeeRs ... and be Patient ..... :D

If u look at the buyer's guide, it says the MacBook hasn't been updated in 173 days i beleive,,that's crazy,,i'm guessing it'll be out next tuesday, if not the tuesday after that the latest,,

If not, then it most definitely be the tuesday after that (of course unless it is destined to come out at the next, and in that case it will get another two week extension). When all the waiting is over, we'll get a new macbook! :(

It has to do with the chipset. Windows laptops have the same problem, although their manufacturers may not be honest with you about it. The problem is that the chipset can only address 4 GB of RAM, including video RAM and cache. So, until Santa Rosa, only about 3.2 GB of that RAM address space is usable, whether on a MacBook or a Windows laptop.

Black Beauty

Here's a thought - just in time for the holidays, Apple makes the premium for Black MacBooks justifiable by adding Core 2 Duo processors, and other assorted options. Ad campaign uses a Black Beauty theme - MacBooks in Black become the hot item, and Zune is forgotten.

White MacBooks update early next year, along with MacMini Core 2 Duo - 64bit from Stem to Stern, Steve glowing about Intel and 64bit - with 10.4.9 released and 10.5 coming out just in time to force early adopters of 64bit to pay the tax.

Ba da boom.

You must be someone who's looking to buy a Black Macbook then. It's not going to happen. When they update the Macbook, they will do all variations at once.

Impossible?

My current PowerBook will not be replaced for at least a few years. I "Think Different" - that a Black MacBook might see updates first. Certainly not impossible. :)

News from Canada...

I HAD a Macbook 2GHz (white) I just bought from Best Buy (in Canada) two weeks ago for $1449CDN which was the same price as the the Macbook on the Apple.ca store. At this time, all the other Apple resellers had Macbooks for the same price as Apple.ca

The reason why I returned is it is because I think an update is imminent. The Macbook that I bought was price dropped to $1399 (still $1449 on the Apple Canada webstore) on the Best Buy Canada webstore:

http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?sku_id=0926INGFS10075463&logon=&langid=EN

And they still have some in-stock at the time of this posting...

As well, all other major stores I checked out that are Apple Canada resellers do NOT have any more stock. They all HAD stock two weeks ago when I was shopping for my Macbook. But now, they have NONE.

Futureshop, $1449, no stock
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pr...angid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10075463&catid=23016

Compusmart, $1449, no stock
http://www.compusmart.com/Product/Default.aspx?SupplierPartNo=805302

There is only one major chain store that has stock, and that is Staples.

I truly think that the update will be (if not this Tuesday), next Tuesday. It's not because I'm desperately wishing for one (even though I am), but it's because it would be stupid to not go ahead and update the line before the holidays in enough time to start stocking the stores. That's my two cents...

The main reason I want this is because I want the top processor in my Mac without having to buy a MBP. The MBP is far too much for my average use...

When the light goes green for a core 2 duo macbook, i'm off to the apple store that day for sure. This is exactly why i've been waiting to get a Macbook, the next question is however, what color Macbook do i buy?

regards
