Just goes to show that what Apple says about how much faster stuff is a load of bull. How come the MBP is 39% faster and the MB only 25%. Theyre the same chips at the same speeds arent they?

What im trying to say is the MB should be 39% faster than the previous one right?

first of all, saying something like macboobs is the type of thing i would say (ie, faceboob instead of facebook), and set my gf off into fits of laughter, so kudos to you.

second, the MBP uses different chips internally, all together. they've dedicated graphics processors, different ram buses, etc. the way all the chips work together, will dictate the overall performance increase.

Thirdy, those numbers are BS

Wow...I didn't expect this announcement to be so early in the month. So what is left for the MacWorld?

I suspect we'll get a Leopard release date that is much sooner than anyone expected, upgrades to the Mac Pro, iMac, MacBook Pro, iLife and iWork updates, iTV, possibly iPhone, and the full-screen iPod. Some or all of those will happen.

Rev b MacBook hopefully fixed unexpected sleep bug and heat issues. :)

Well I haven't had any of these issues, so I'm good. Also I upgraded my HD to 7200RPM so really the only new thing in the MBs is the C2D but I don't see that being worth an upgrade at all.

My next upgrade won't be until the MBP is redesigned. :)

this isnt the type of upgrade they'd bother to announce at macworld...its fairly insignificant to them

People think that the only benifet for C2D is speed! Wrong! It also should come close to doubling the batter life, because it uses much less power. That alone is huge in regards to a notebook.

Also, I had 2 MBP's and got rid of them with all the trouble they had and exchanged it for a Mac Pro. The MB 13.3 is not even close to the bulkiness of the MBP, it sounds to me that there are a lot of assumptions here and people have not compared them.

As always, people want to be negative, the price for the MB is very reasonable for it's hardware. If you are disatisfied with the MB Hardware, maybe you should take the inards out of a Mac Pro and bind it by a string and tie it to your waist when traveling. Then you will have power and portability.
Seriously what do you expect from a portable consumer product? An ipod size notebook. Sheesh. Stop whining. You can always buy older PowerBook's now if that is what you like. In fact ..

I have a 12" 1.5PPC that is a year old, I would sell it for $600.00.

I don't want to sound mean to y'all, but there is always someone disatisfied. I guess you can't please 'em all.

I'd take all apples "Speed increase" claims with a pinch of salt, they rarely do a fair comparison, and fudge the figures and the way they test stuff to look good. That said their will be a small increase in performance in C2D But not enough to warrant swapping a CD MB for.

I have an idea for Apple. Use flash drive with 1.5" iPod drives and shrink the motherboard. With all the space, employ a larger capacity battery, and aggressive power management, and we could well see 10 hours of battery life! :) Why I don't work for Apple, I haven't a clue.

could someone ichat message me when the store comes back up? I'm at work and cant keep checking, but no one would notice a little ichat bubble :D

thanks!

1.83 Model is Very Poor

The 2GhZ models are ok with the small price drop and other upgrades, but the 1.83 model really is a p**s poor deal in my opinion, its pretty clear it only exists to get people to spend more money on the 2GHz models. Clever Apple.

A disappointing update in my opinion.

lol, and have ur harddrive run slowly as heck!

Nice update, I suppose. Would be perfect if they had put in the x3000, but even so it's a decent value. I suspect the EDU pricing for the middle model will be $1199 which is a good buy for a pretty well equipped laptop.

Would be nice to see the mini go to these specs and keep the current pricing model (with the lower 2 MB models). $799 would be pretty fair for a 2ghz C2D w/ 1gb RAM and DVDRW/80gb HDD, as opposed to what you get now.

You're wrong. It won't double the battery life - it won't do anything to the battery life at all. The computers are going to use the same amount of power.

Does anyone think we will see A NEW MacMini with itv? it seems that they could go together well and itv could be used to make your tv you moniter ( without cables). The mini has been so neglected, it could really be as cool as ipod only half as portable.
