Core 2 Duo MacBooks Announced

the UK site says there is a 3day delivery time, so whoever said that they won't be available until the 20th is wrong. Unless of course that is in the U.S.A

about me saying that battery life is doubled, I was wrong.. My MacBook Pro was a 2-3hr battery life, and I saw 6hrs on the MB ( I know the MBP HW is much more intensive.. ) but to make a good excuse, I was without coffee ;P
I humbly admit that I was wrong.

the merom chip is more energy efficient then yonah but I am not sure if that will be a significant increase in battery life or not. Sorry for the mis-information.

the us apple store is down still .. my mouth is dry from all the waiting and drooling!
 
Apple Store?

Can someone please help out an Apple newbie (Let's make my switch from a PC as pleasant as possible, shall we? :) )

...Does this mean I can walk into an Apple Store TODAY and walk home with this baby? If not, what's the quickest way to get it in my hands? Order it online w/ fast shipping? ...or when will it be in the store?

I can't quote benchmarks or anything, but anecdotal reports based on the c2d MBP indicate that there is some heat reduction from the cd models. Also, somewhere on Apple's spec page it lists a longer battery life for the c2d MBP (by about .5 hour, but still). Both are likely marginal, but also likely real.

The problem is that Microsoft couldn't start theirs until Apple was done - that way they could "borrow" the overall look and feel of the GUI. ;)

The site being down this long was not planned, Apple has some sort of outtage.
Now we get to wait in line for all of the purchases made all around the world on the bottom of the queue :(

Don't fret, I am busting open iWeb right now and building a new Apple Store, I should be done before they figure out whatever the hell the problem is.

I just got a CD2 macbook pro & the fastest for me was to wait until the local Apple store got them in...I was able to pick one up on Saturday of the same week they were released...

You aperently havent gotten a C2D 17" MBP. We said the same thing 2 WEEKS AGO. AND SHIPPING IS STILL DELAYED FOR NEXT WEEK.

I can't wait to see the new refurb prices for the CD MB's and CD MBP's once there is refurb stock on the C2D's. It's going to be sweet!!!! ;)

1 GB of RAM and an extra 20 GB of hard drive space in the $1299 model, and 1 GB of RAM and an extra 40 GB in the black, too.

I bought the $1299 model in mid-September, really, REALLY wish I'd gotten 1 GB of RAM, lol.

the macbook is a more consumer product tho...they hopefully have prepared stock in that regard. sadly, there is such a small number of people buying the 17"mbp that they are under less presure to keep them stocked
