I bet it still scratches when you put your phone in your pocket with literally nothing else in it.

I still can't believe that YouTubers will take knives and screwdrivers to phone screens and it doesn't leave a scratch, yet I take care and only out my phone in my pocket on its own and it's riddled with them.

Those reviewers simply don't understand that scratches are caused by how hard the material scratching it is, not how sharp the object is.

Knife / screwdriver / keys tests are worthless, Gorilla Glass has been strong enough to resist those for years.

Your pockets probably have minuscule pieces of sand that are way harder than metal.

I'd love to have a non-slip surface on the back.

I put a leather skin from Vaja on the back of mine. Makes for a great no-slip and handles the camera speed bump.

Whatever happened to sapphire glass on the iPhone? We have it for the home button and the camera glass, but not the rest of the phone. Apple even has a patent to bond gorilla glass to sapphire, so you get scratch and drop protection. When will we see that?

No, I've never gotten a scratch, even around the beach. I keep my phone in my pocket with nothing else besides maybe earbuds.
That may be true for you but if you follow this thread I guarantee the consensus will be different.

Otherwise there would not be such a big market for screen protectors.

Although progressively less each cycle. Every iPhone I had even the 6S+ had at least micro scratches on it.

But does it survive scratches. That has always and will always until proven otherwise be my issue with screens.

True... for me it's those hairline scratches that drive me nuts.

My 1+ year old Apple Watch is spotless even through I've accidentally banged it and scraped it against pretty much everything. Sapphire definitely rules in the scratch department.

In my experience, all the iPhones from model 4 onwards handled regular scratches really well. Of course, they can still be scratched with a knife, scissors, etc., but one needs to try quite hard.

Analyst predicts: Corning to Release Gorilla Glass 6 next year.

Bet cautiously, as "Corning's last Gorilla Glass product, Gorilla Glass 4, came out in 2014."

Do you line your pockets with diamond coated sandpaper?

I've had a 5S since whenever the 5S was new and put it in my pocket everyday, with no screen protector. I can't see or feel a single scratch on it. Granted, I rarely ever put keys or coins in the same pocket, but I routinely put other things like pens & pencils, iPhone earbuds, and glasses.

Grains of dirt and sand in your pocket literally act like sandpaper. It's hard to prevent.

Not sure what you're talking about. Just putting the phone in your pocket over time it develops scratches.

Pockets without keys or anything like that in them either.

Do you guys keep in diamonds in your pockets or what? I never use screen protectors and mine are pristine. So much so that I consider them a useless scam now, unless you are working/doing activity in an dangerous environment. What's needed is better shatter protection for people like my cousins, who are so careless they drop their phone nearly everyday.

Where in the video do they have all the clips of the the screens shattering with the newest version of corning glass? Where are the failed screens hiding? Lets see some honesty in ads. We certainly are not seeing any honesty with the political parties and their paid employees.

"We even had to jack up the height of our drop machine's release point..." That statement made me LOL.

I've always kept my iPhones naked and never had a scratch, yet my 6s+ seems extra prone to scratches. I swear I'm not doing anything differently.

Do people here wear skinny jeans or something? I don't know, I've never heard any real-world complaints. Also, screen protectors are for preventing cracks too.
