Well this plane is already on its way to Ontario so it will definitely be going there. If you look at the planes activity over the last month it has only been to louisville 2 times and never has it gone from Ontario to Louisville. I am not saying that they are not going to louisville but I think it would be pretty silly to bring the phone 40 miles from me(and many others I am sure) to take it off the plane its on and then send it to louisville so they can send it back to Ontario. I guess we will see.

The only problem is that you can't be sure your phone is on it. It probably hasn't gone through customs that quick...

Even though I think that this obsessiveness is quite stupid. Your iPhones are on one 1 of 3 flights.

Or it could not be going out until tomorrow?

But I think they took our phones off the plane for customers, and are going to put them on a separate plane to go to Louisville. Once they get there, they will sit there until probably Wednesday or Thursday, and then go to everywhere across the country. The rest of the non-iPhones probably continued on to Ontario to get sorted.

I don't think there is anything on the plane but iPhones. The Plane only landed in Alaska to clear customs that's why it was only there for about 2 hours. We will see in a few hours.

BTW customs occurs in one of the UPS hubs (Ontario, California for UPS59, Kentucky for UPS61) not in Alaska. They were never taken off the plane.

Custom Clearance is completed at the first port of entry into the United States, not at a HUB. Logistics is my business, it's what I do everyday, with that said I am sure UPS had already sent the manifest ahead of landing.

I am impressed how you people tracked it down to the plane tho!!

This make sense. iPhones that are going to the west coast, they are going to ontario. East-coast, going to Louisville ? That makes more sense to me.

What they do (FedEx and ups) is send everything to a large central hub for sorting like Memphis Super Hub for FedEx and St Louis for ups. Also major hubs in Indianapolis and Oakland for FedEx and Ontario and Louisville for ups are used for sorting as well.

Our packages will not be separated until they get to these hubs. I'm guessing they are being moved off the plane to the plane scheduled for Louisville. They would use the Ontario flight for international shipments scheduled for delivery tomorrow or the next day.

Peronally I think Apple would want to have complete control like they do over everything else. I think they take over a certain amount of planes and nothing but iPhones are on them. Think about it there has to at least a couple of million 1 pound packages on their way here from China. There is no time to have these packages mixed in with other packages. This is just my thinking. I could be wrong.(But I don't think I am:D)

I think the planes can clear customs quickly because there is not anything else on them but iPhones. The custom agents have the manifest of the plane before it lands so all they have to do is make an inspection of the cargo hold and that's it.

Seriously dead on. Do I care where my phone is right now? Nope.....Am I enjoying the fun and camaraderie? Absolutely. It's just a phone, nothing more. I'll get it Friday and even though I am not as excited this time around as others I'm still looking forward to it. The shipping games and all of this dumb quirkiness is making me more excited for my delivery. Nothing wrong with being a nerd these days, nothing at all.

Yes customs would have been delt with in Alaska. But there really wouldn't have been anything to do since the shipment has been previously scheduled. Customs could've cleared the shipment weeks ago.

If you don't have a departure scan, then your phone was probably taken off of that plane and put on one going to Louisville. They had over an hour in Anchorage to take cargo off. It could have happened.

Good Point I did not get a departure scan so maybe it was taken off the plane. Did anyone receive a departure scan from Alaska around 5:00pm???

I have ordered the last 3 phones through apple and it's going to Ontario, ca. I ave never had it go from Alaska to KY. It's always gone to ontario then gets shipped out from there.

We will see when the next scan shows up

It looks like the adjusted flight 69's info and if its now correct it left hong kong at around 7:00pm so it could not be our plane. It looks like if you have a departure scan from Hong Kong at 9:34 your iPhone is on flight 59. I updated the link below.

Lands in Anchorage Alaska at 3:33pm Local time(which might change). Here they come!!:D

**UPDATE** Plane is scheduled to leave Alaska at 5:05pm and land in Ontario, CA at 10:28pm. (that's like 40 miles from me!!!)

I'm in LA (Santa Monica) and wonder if my iPhone is also on that flight. My departure scan leaving Hong Kong was at 4.17 PM with onward travel to Korea and then departure from Alaska at 2.28 PM (September 17). It's going to kill me if I'm only an hour drive away (with no traffic of course) but have to wait until Friday!!!

Ah, Ontario, CA definitely makes more sense.

Actually, I'm in SC and I believe that my phone is on this flight.

Thanks for the geography lesson, but at the mention of simply "Ontario," one thinks of Canada rather than California.

And even worse, saying "Ontario, CA" doesn't exactly clarify it!

Read my post above

I did but I have a hard time believing they off loaded all the phones that came over. We will see.......

Apple ships UPS World Ease to prevent that sort of problem, though every now and then life happens and then your pallet has to wait.

But in general, World Ease exists to prevent these hold-ups because Apple pays the duties in advance and for the whole pallet rather than per-product.

http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/shipping/time/service/value_added/worldease.html

If you read my post it talks about an entire pallet (not per product) I have no idea why you would believe a company the size of Apple would do that.

Apple is who told me about a paperwork mistake, on their part. Apples very honest and provides excellent communications.

Apple products being shipped from China are sent via FedEx International or UPS World Ease. Apple would never put all their eggs in one basket. Both meet Apples very specific & strict policies. Both are also subject to Customs, over which Apple has no control.

For clarification, customs does not clear any shipment in advance. It doesn't matter what's "scheduled" it's based on what arrives at customs. Upon arrival Customs inspects, then releases the shipment for it's next flight.

If your phone went to Korea then it was not on this plane. This plane went from China right to Alaska. I was tracking some flights from korea earlier today and I think they were going straight to louisville.

Not saying your right...however, there is some evidence to support this,

1.) Lousville, KY has one of the largest UPS hubs, UPS Worldport, and there was an extensive documentary on it not to long ago, about how Worldport operates, and sorts through a TON of packages. Documentary can be found here if your bored :p ... http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/ultimate-factories/videos/ups-worldport/

2.) This pretty much matches up with my tracking info on UPS.com thus far and timestamps are pretty close.

FYI: For those who are curious as to what flight it is, it is right here, http://flightaware.com/live/flight/UPS61

I'm watching this right now. The bar code readers commit over 50 MILLION database transactions PER HOUR. Think about that amount of data? It's like facebook, but it would ACTUALLY matter if the system crashed....

Left AK

Mine left at 2:28 Local time, so around 5:30 CST. Guess it just got to Louisville.
