they are working on a AMD based solution (CPU+GPU) for 13" laptops? ( i know AMD not so good at mobile CPUs, hey they are picking up and lots of new laptops are released with AMD CPUs nowadays)

AMD sucks REALLY bad in mobile space, that's why there is no chance of a Apple-AMD connection anytime soon. AMD is ok for volume desktops, but we all know that Apple will never get into that market again.

Sprint sounds great!

If they released a Sprint phone, I would buy one today!

Sprint would be a truly amazing switch. Apple should seriously consider Sprint. Their networks are definetely strong enough to handle iPhone data usage and Apple can set up for 4G after it becomes available in many more areas.

Wouldn't be too happy about the metal back for the iPhone, if that's true. But who cares, as long as it's Verizon!

- Last And Most Importantly: Steve will unveil all these magnificent products in a hot neon green pair of tights, red hairbow, while assisted by 4 of Santa's Elves.

Please refrain from any attempt at sarcasm, as such an attempt may result in injury or a label of incompetence. Thank you, and have a nice day.

My wife bought a stylus for the iPad. It works great. They sell a lot of them on Amazon.
Must be a 'special' one on then. Good to know you can get then :p

3. AMD Fusion is a combination of an intel instruction set + AMD GPU on one chip.
.....However AMD will have proper integrated graphics with Fusion.....
Hattig is right, Fusion will be the first range of CPU's from AMD with built in graphics thank to ATi. Nothing to do with Intel.

EDIT:

You kidding? Apple are all over AMD at the moment. Granted it's though ATi but there one in the same now so any deals being done with ATi will help AMD's standing with Apple.

As for Fusion... how do you know it's bad?you've seen it action then?
Grated there current line up isn't cracking but no ones even seen Fusion yet so I'll wait till I've used a Fusion based set up to pass judgement.

I notice one little hitch with the AppleTV.. or it denotes a change..

1. AppleTV currently runs on a modified version of OSX Tiger (PPC?).

2. iOS runs on ARM which uses a completely different an incompatible instruction set to intel.

3. AMD Fusion is a combination of an intel instruction set + AMD GPU on one chip.

So this means... iOS makes the leap to the Intel instruction set?

When you build an iPhone app for testing in the simulator, I believe it builds for the Intel architecture. It wouldn't take a massive change to the SDK to enable developers to build "even more universal" deployment apps with ARM & Intel versions bundled.

If Intel versions of the iOS and iOS apps becomes available, it does make you wonder if it could/would be hacked to run on other Intel devices.

A 7" iPad huh? The iPad itself already has a problem with finding it's niche. Never mind a 7" version. To top it all off, a Verizon iPhone huh? Hasn't that been brought up every year since the iPhone has been out? Lol. I guess if you keep talking about it and wishing hard enough it may eventually come true?

Is this a joke, or are you trolling?

The iPad hasn't found it's market? Is that why it's suffering from such small sales? This is the fastest selling tablet computer on the planet. People who use it as advertised are thrilled, those who have tailored it for their own needs also seem to love it. Just because you can't understand why someone would want a small, portable, instant on, great batter life machine for media consumption is your own blinkered vision, not a problem with the device. Make this thing fit in a handbag and women will snap it up.

If it's having a problem finding a niche, then why are they always sold out at the local store and don't even offer employees discounts on them yet. My wife and daughter both have one and love them. Personally, I think they are too big, but also think my iPod Touch is a bit too small, so 7" might be ideal.

My thoughts exactly.

I do hope there is a 7" iPad. I need to read stuff on the go and 10" is too big and inconvenient, iPhone is too small. I want the smallest size possible that makes reading comfortable. I think it would also be perfect for kids...

Many don't think there is a market for this, but part of me thinks there is a silent majority out there who will pounce on this size format.

I absolutely agree with you. I would REALLY like to use an iPad to take and annotate lecture notes (PDFs). That would be awesome. Not just some random 3rd party app and pen... Saw a couple of people got iPads in class but that that's still read-only and still need pen and paper to jot things down.

Webcam as well... if Apple really wants to expand the FaceTime market this is pretty much how they should do. Stick a webcam onto all of its iDevices...

The iPad is not 'read only' and you don't need a stylus to make notes on an iBook or PDF within iBooks.

This is why I want a 5 inch iPod Touch. Seriously, I need something bigger than a 3.5 inch screen, but something I can fit in my pocket.

Ignorance, right... Tis so annoying.

the $$$$ to get same 512MB in a stick and near to CPU die is different, you know right?

I know, but that was not up for debate. The point was that 256 or even 512 MB RAM is not very much these days, especially for a device that is designed to have a much broader range of apps than a smartphone.

Even from this perspective the comparison to cache isn't a good one. 2nd level cache is a highly saturated performance factor, i.e., it hardly matters anymore if you whack on more cache for a new chip design. I haven't heard anyone bemoan the lack of cache for at least 10 years. It does matter very much though, how much RAM you give your device.

This RAM is on-chip. It is not "sticks". You are like complaining about how the C2D have only 4MB of cache.

Until you, nobody mentioned 'sticks'.

He knows. He's making a point about the current iPad's less than stellar 256mb of RAM.

Thanks! As you can see, some people cannot take criticism... I haven't even pointed out that the iPad had the same RAM as the 2009 iPod Touch...

So what? RAM is RAM, no matter if on-chip or off-chip. The comparison with cache is not applicable, cache isn't RAM, not even remotely.

They should complain to Macrumors about this. The article stated that "the report also claims that the new iPad will carry the same 512 MB of RAM as the iPhone 4, up from the 256 MB found in the current iPad". I used the exact term, yet some people correct me? No correction is needed. 256MB is small by any means. Will the iPad can see through another update or will the next major software update do the same as iOS4 did to the iPhone 3G?

Pfft, why not? The 1G iPhone was perhaps the most well built and longest lasting iPhone ever released. That design was idiot-proof.

I cant wait till gizmodo buys a lost VZW iphone... that way we will know for sure its coming out!

+1, i love the Alu back 1G iPhones, would take back if they offered the same again. do not like plastics or glass (easy to scratch)

Why would they bring out a new Apple TV just after the holidays? That's bad timing, which is not typical of Apple.
